Chapter 45: Chapter 45

"Oh, honey, I'm so proud of you", my mom hugged me after the ceremony was finished. Yes, it was my graduation.

"Thanks, Mom", I hugged her back then pulled away, turning to my dad.

"I'm proud of you, kiddo", he hugged me and kissed the back of my head.

"Thanks, Daddy", I muttered

"Oh, my baby girl is an adult now. It felt like yesterday that I took you to the first day of kindergarten", he said sadly.

"Dad", I whined, afraid that I might cry here. I then turned to Sean who was standing there awkwardly, watching our family interaction.

"Congrats, baby", he whispered lowly for me to hear.

"Thanks, babe", I hugged him close and he seemed taken back by my sudden action. I could feel my dad stare at us but I ignored it.

I told my mom about Sean just a week ago by phone and she was excited to meet him. My dad, on the other hand, wasn't too happy about it. Especially when I told them that we'd been dating for a while now and we had moved in together. But then I told them about my situation with Dani so they are kind of grateful that Sean was willing to let me stay with him.

They officially met Sean three days ago and Sean was super nervous, especially coming face to face with my dad. My dad kept his straight face and kept asking questions to Sean making him more nervous. But luckily my mom was very welcoming so it eased his nerves a bit.

We went to dinner together and that was when they learned everything about Sean, well not everything. He made sure not to mention his involvement in gangs, though he wasn't in it anymore.

After Sean left the gang, he moved out of the mansion and bought a house just for the two of us. He continued his non-gang-related businesses and my parents were impressed once they knew he owned many businesses like clubs, a hotel, a mall, even the restaurant where we were eating.

"Come on, let's take a picture", my mom exclaimed as my dad offered his phone to Sean.

I straightened my gown and fixed my cap as my parents stood by my sides, ready to pose.  I gave my best smile as I heard the shuttered sound.

"Perfect", Sean said as he examined the photo.

"Here, I'll take your picture", my mom took the phone, signaling Sean and me.

Sean had his arm around my shoulder, pulling me close, and once again, I smiled at the camera.

"You are so cute together", my mom chirped as she look at the photo. "Look, Ben aren't they a match?", my mom showed it to my dad.

"Yeah, they certainly are", my dad said, trying to sound intimidating but I knew better.

My parents stayed for another week before they went back home to Colorado. Sean mostly left us because he wanted me to spend time with my parents. They rarely visited so I was glad for that.

"Valerie", my mom called out as I ate the ice cream. We were in a cafe eating some ice cream after mom's shopping spree and my dad being her bag carrier.

"How are your feelings to Sean?", she asked making me stopped eating.

"What do you mean?", I asked nervously.

"I saw how you looked at him and him to you", she said. "You guys are going serious, huh?", she grinned.

"Well, yeah", I shyly admitted.

"I gotta be honest, I kind of like the guy", my dad stated.

"Right", I said sarcastically. "We all know that you don't like him, dad"

"What? Dads aren't supposed to be nice to their daughter's boyfriends when they first met", my dad said cooly.

"And who said that?", I raised my eyebrows.

"I did", he pointed himself and I chuckled.

"Well, be nice to him, then. You always made him nervous every time you're in the same room", I said.

"Good. That's my intention", he said playfully as he drank this coffee.

"Dad", I whined. "I'm serious. Be nice to him. He makes me happy"

"Alright, alright", my dad surrendered. "But if he hurts you or anything, I'm going to chop his balls off"

"Dad", I groaned.

"As a dad, it's my job to do that", he exclaimed.

I laughed. "He won't hurt me, I promise"

The next day, my parents would go back to Colorado. I and Sean came to their hotel to say goodbye.

"I'm going to miss you so much", my mom hugged me with teary eyes.

"I'm going to miss you too", I muttered. I wished they could stay longer but my dad had work.

"Take care of yourself, my baby", she patted my back and I nodded.

I turned to look for my dad and saw that he was having a conversation with Sean. I hoped he didn't embarrass him or something.

I walked closer to them and when Sean locked eyes with me, he smiled. "You have nothing to worry about, sir. I'll make sure nothing happens to her", he said as his gaze was still fixed to mine.

My dad just nodded then turned around to face me. "Oh, come here, kiddo", he engulfed me in a hug.

"Take care of yourself, OK?", he mumbled.

"Of course, daddy", I replied as he pulled away. "Alright, we gotta go now", my dad said as he lifted the trunk.

"Visit us whenever you can", my mom said before they drove away.

I waited until the car couldn't be seen anymore. I let out a sigh as I felt Sean's hands wrapped around my waist.

"I'm going to miss them so much", I whispered.

"I know baby, I know", he said kissing my cheek. "They love you so much you know"

"Yeah", I said.

We both walked to his car hand in hand when I remembered something.

"Hey, what did my dad talk to you about?", I asked curiously once we were in the car

"Nothing serious", he replied as he reversed the car and drove away.

"Which is?"

"Well, he mentioned about my balls being chopped off if I messed up", he scratched his neck nervously.

I laughed. "Yeah, that sounds like my dad"

"And like I said, he has nothing to worry about", he said.

"Why is that?", I asked.

"You're my only attraction, that's what", he winked and my cheek went red as he chuckled.

His only attraction. I like the sound of that.

The story is finally over!!!! Like I promised, I finished all the chapters this week and I'm sorry if the ending is so short. But anyway, I hope you like it though. It's been fun writing this book and as I said before, I'm trying to write another book but the problem is I haven't got the idea and I'm afraid it'd take a while for my little brain to come up with something LOL.

And lastly, I'd want to say thank you to you guys who's been following this story from the very beginning and have been so patient with my slow updates sometimes. I'm a student so you know how it is right?
