Chapter 44: Chapter 44
Me and Mrs. Rhodes entered the room, none of us talked and we both just stood there for a while. It's been two months since she was gone and today, me and Mrs. Rhodes finally got the time to clean her room. The whole process we were silent as we cleaned up.
Mrs. Rhodes was doing the closet, taking out all the clothes, and folded them nicely into one box. Me the other hand, emptying the drawers which mostly consists of scissors, pencils, measuring tapes, pins, and notches.
When I was cleaning the bedside drawer, I found a book. I opened it and I quickly realized that it was a diary. Her diary.
I knew I wasn't supposed to read someone's private thoughts but my curiosity got the best of me. Who knows I might find out why she wanted me dead.
I looked around, seeing Mrs. Rhodes was still busy emptying the content of the closet. I sat on the floor with my legs crossed as I read.
As I read further to the pages, my eyes grew wider and wider until Mrs. Rhodes called me, snapping out of my thoughts.
"Yes?", I answered as I hid the diary.
"Are you okay, dear?", she asked noticing my strange behavior.
"Yeah. I'm fine. I just finished here", I laughed nervously.
"Alright. I'm taking these boxes downstairs", she smiled but her eyes were still wary.
"OK. I'll be down in a second", I replied before she disappeared.
After she left, I slipped the diary behind my shorts then picked up the remaining boxes. I placed the boxes in the living room and was about to go upstairs when Mrs. Rhodes called me into the kitchen.
"Are you hungry? I can make something for you", she said.
"Uh, no thanks. I'm tired and I want to take a nap", I lied and she bought it.
I excused myself and quickly went upstairs to Sean's room. Luckily he was still in the office to take care of something before Larry officially took over the gang.
I closed the door behind me and climbed on the bed, taking out the diary from my shorts.
January 6
Sean brought a girl home and he introduced her as his girlfriend! I didn't like her instantly. Sure she looked nice and pretty but she has Sean. Sean's supposed to be mine.
February 8
I know it's the wrong thing to do, but I have to. I love Sean so much that it hurts seeing him kissing her right in front of me. I know I'll probably regret it and if Sean found out, he'd never forgive me. But if this is the only way to get her out of Sean's life for good, I'd do it.
April 2
I had a meeting with the bad guy. He told me to distract the crews so they could steal the bombs from the garage. I hesitated but I agreed anyway. They said if I did it, they'd take care of Valerie.
April 15
They wanted her as leverage and I gladly accepted. All I had to do was getting her out of the guards and I knew exactly how to do that. I've been waiting this moment to come. After all, she took Sean from me, the only person I loved the most. It's payback time.
April 18
Sean's a mess since she's gone. He locked himself in his office day and night. He doesn't talk to anybody, including me and I hated that. She's gone now. Why he's still thinking about her? Why can't he love me?
I closed the diary with full force. I can't read it anymore. All this time, she hated my guts but the worst thing was she never showed it.
She loved Sean, as a lover, not brother. I knew they weren't related by blood but this was sick, so sick that I tried not to throw up.
Did Sean know about this? Probably not because if he did, he'd tell me right?
I picked up the diary and headed to the door. I needed to tell Sean now. But before I could reach the door, it was already opened revealing the man himself.
"Hey, babe", he smiled as he approached me, placing his lips on mine.
"So, Larry's officially the leader now and I'll have nothing to do with all of these bullshits anymore", he chirped.
"That's great", I gave him a tight smile and he frowned.
"What's wrong?", he asked worriedly.
I showed him the diary and he just looked at it confused. "Uh, what's this?"
"It's a diary. Georgina's diary", I said and he tensed.
"What about it?", he scratched his neck nervously.
"Why don't you read it yourself?", I muttered. He seemed to hesitate but slowly opened the pages.
He read the whole book then closed it, pinching the bridge of his nose. He didn't seem surprised like I thought he would.
"Did you know about this?", I retorted and he avoided my gaze.
"You knew it, didn't you?", I felt my anger risen. He just stood there, not even denying it.
"How long did you know?", I asked.
"Not long", he answered.
"And how did you find out?", I asked again.
He was quiet again then he spoke. "You were taken by Jonathan. I was drunk and I.. kissed her.. "
"You kissed her?", I shrieked, taking a step back. I couldn't even look at him.
"I thought she was you. I was so wasted that I didn't know anything", he defended. "The next morning, I found her sleeping on my bed"
"Oh my God, did you.."
"Nothing happened", he quickly said. "She just fell asleep with me on my bed", he explained.
"Did you love her back?", I asked slowly and he looked at me like I grew two heads.
"She was my sister", he remarked.
"If she wasn't, you'd still love her?", I asked.
"Well, yes but as a sister, nothing more", he said and I nodded.
"Babe", he cupped my cheek. "I never loved anyone as I love you. And no one, especially Georgie can compare to you. You're beautiful, strong, and selfless. You changed me into a better man", he said lovingly and I felt butterflies in my stomach.
"You put up with all my shits. Normal girls, they'd be running down the hills already", he chuckled.
"So I'm not normal then?". I questioned playfully.
"No, you're special", he kissed my temple and I sighed in happiness as I hugged his body closer to mine.
Relief filled my body when we were able to talk about it without fighting. Even though it wasn't Sean's fault, I knew he still felt bad about her death.
"You wanna go out for dinner tonight?", Sean asked pulling me away. "I know I haven't been around these past weeks and I've been such a terrible boyfriend", he started to ramble nervously.
"I've been busy with the paperwork, and I left you all alone, I just don't.. ", his words were cut off as I placed my lips on his.
I pulled away as I let out a grin. "Of course I'd go out with you"
A smile formed his face, and his eyes lightened in excitement. "Great. Let's go", he took my hand, dragging me to the door.
"Wait, now?" I need to change", I whined.
"No need, you look perfect to me", he winked as I let him dragged me.
