Chapter 13: Chapter 13
I was sitting in the car with Sean driving me to campus. He insisted to drive me though I'd told him that I could walk. But then he'd say that a good boyfriend always drives their girlfriend. I just rolled my eyes at the ridiculous remark but I obliged anyway.
He turned off the engine and walked out to my side to open my door, something that I kept telling him not to do.
"So, I'll pick you up here like usual?", Sean said kissing my temple.
"I think I'll be late today. I have extra class at 3", I said sadly.
"Alright. Then I'll see you at 4", he rubbed my back.
"OK", I smiled then pulled away.
"Uh, aren't you forgetting something?", he asked. I looked at him confused and checked my bag and pockets.
"You forgot to kiss me", he pouted his lips. I chuckled and walked towards him to press my lips against his.
"That's better. Good luck at class", he said giving me another passionate kiss making me blushed.
I started walking to my class but then someone grabbed my arm roughly making me shrieked.
"Who was that with you just now?", Liam asked looking angry.
"Liam, what are you doing? You scared the hell out of me", I said yanking myself out of him.
"That guy just now. Who is that?", he looked serious.
"That's Sean, my boyfriend", I started to feel pissed now.
"You're kidding me, right? Your boyfriend is Sean Winters? The most dangerous man in America?", he started to yell making me flinched. I never saw him this angry before.
"What are you talking about?", I shivered.
"Your boyfriend Sean is the leader of the most dangerous gang in this country. Everyone in this town knows him, Val. He's a criminal", he said. I felt like my heart just stopped beating and I felt a tear felt down my cheek.
"Please tell me that you're joking", I whispered but Liam just stood there which answered my question.
"No, you're lying. He's not a criminal. He's my boyfriend", I cried.
"You know I'd never lie to you about something like this", he said in a serious tone making me sobbed harder. He hugged me, giving soothing words. We stood like that for a while until I pulled away and wiped my tears. "What should I do?", I asked.
"You have to break up with him", Liam said sternly.
"B-break up with him?", I stuttered and Liam nodded.
"He's a killer, Val. He kills for money and I don't want you to get hurt because of him", he said and I gasped. No wonder he was so rich and owned many businesses. It was blood money. I couldn't believe I was so stupid falling into his tricks.
"I want to get out of here", I said in a whisper but Liam heard it.
"Where?", he asked concerned.
"Can I go to your place?", I asked. My head was hurting because of the information and I could use some nap.
"Alright", he said putting his arm around my shoulder.
We walked to his apartment since it wasn't far. His apartment wasn't extravagant like Dani's but it was homey end comfortable.
"Sorry for the mess. It was Ryan's", he said tidying up the couch and the table.
"It's ok. I just need to use the couch to lie down for a while", I said.
"Go to my room then", Liam exclaimed.
"No, it's fine. I'll just take the couch", I insisted.
"No, Val. Just go to my room. Trust me, you'll get back pain once you woke up in here", Liam said taking me to his room. "Make yourself at home. Call me if you need anything", he said before closing the door, leaving me alone in his room.
I got on the bed and took one of the pillows to cuddle. I thought about what Liam just told me about Sean. Was he a bad guy? But he had been so kind to me and if it wasn't for him, I'd be raped by that creepy guy on the street.
I didn't realize that I slept until I was woken up by the buzz of my phone. I looked at the ID and it was Sean calling me. It was past 4 and he must be waiting for me at school. I was contemplated whether I should answer it or not. I decided to answer it.
"Hello?", I sounded hoarse.
"Valerie? Thank God. I thought something happened to you", he said relieved. "Where are you? I've been waiting for 20 minutes"
"I'm sorry. I don't feel well and I crashed at my friend's house", I lied.
"Are you okay? Where are you right now? I'll get you to the doctor", I heard him starting the car engine.
"No. I'm fine. Listen umm. We need to break up", I said sternly then I heard silent.
"What do you mean to break up? We're not breaking up", he sounded angry.
"Please, Sean. I can't do this. I need you to stay away from me", I was on edge of tears now.
"You can't do this to me. Please let me fix this. Whatever it is", he pleaded.
"No, you can't. I know about you and what you do. You lied to me", I was crying now and I heard him gasped.
"Val, I can explain it", he said.
"No, you don't. Just stay away from me", I said hanging up.
I threw away the phone and I buried my face into the pillow. I felt the bed dipped beside me and I felt a hand rubbing my back.
"I heard what happen. I'm so sorry, Val", Liam whispered. I looked up and saw Liam's worried face.
"It's okay. It's for the best", I forced a smile.
"Are you hungry? I made your favorite. Mac and cheese", he said trying to cheer me up.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world", I laughed.

SEAN POV
I was driving to her apartment at high speed. She knew about me. Of course, she wanted to break up with me. I mean, why would such an innocent girl want someone like me in her life? She could do much better. But no, I was too selfish to let her go and I wanted her for myself. I couldn't imagine her with another guy.
I got into her apartment and instantly hit the lift button to her floor. I waited for the lift impatiently that made me wanted to take the stairs instead.
The lift stopped signaling that I'd reached their floor. I quickly went to her room and knocked impatiently at the door. I knocked harder this time and the door opened revealing a brunette girl that I never saw. She must be Dani, Valerie's roommate.
"Can I help you?", she asked checking me from head to toe.
"I need to see Valerie", I said.
"Valerie? She's not home yet. And who are you?", she asked suspiciously.
"I'm her boyfriend", I answered.
"She doesn't have a boyfriend", she said confused.
"She doesn't tell you about me?", I asked surprised. Why did she do that?
"No. And she will need a lot of explaining once she gets home", she muttered to herself.
"Can you tell her to call me once she's home?", I asked her.
She looked at me doubtingly but nodded. "Sure"
I sighed once she closed the door and headed downstairs to my car. I thought for a while and I decided to wait for her instead. I needed to talk to her now.
I sat in my car with my radio on to kill time. I waited for an hour, two hours, three hours but still hadn't seen her coming. I felt uneasy, afraid that something happened to her.
It was almost four hours when I saw a figure walking towards the apartment building with a guy? I didn't know what came over me, but then I walked out of my car and walked towards them.
She saw me and panicked filled her eyes, so was the guy with her.
"Sean? What are you doing here?", her sweet angelic voice filled my ears.
"We need to talk", I said sternly while scowling at the guy.
"There's nothing to talk about", she said walking past me but I grabbed her wrist.
"Hey, let her go", the guy said pushing me away from her.
"Stay out of this. It's not your fucking business", I hissed facing him.
"It's my business when it comes to Valerie", he said huskily.
"Stop it, both of you", she placed her hands on our chests. "Liam, you should go home now. It's late", she said to the guy.
"I'm not leaving you with him", the guy gave me a death glare.
"It's OK. Just go home. Thank you for today", she hugged him making me wanted to punch him
"Are you sure?", he asked again.
"I'm sure. Don't worry about me", she assured him.
"Call me if you need anything", he said before leaving us alone.
She watched him went away then she turned around facing me.
"Well? What do you want to tell me?", she crossed her arms.
I let out a big sigh before I told her. "Valerie, I'm part of the most dangerous and powerful gang in America and I'm the leader"
