Chapter 39: Chapter 39

"Do you think something is wrong? Did boss tease her again?" Aiden asked Kyle while walking down the staircase. "Not sure but I did not see him teasing her. But do you think the boss will be angry at us for fixing the door?"

"That's hard to tell. Now it seems it would be better if two would not use your little brain. Anyway, it's getting late. You two should go back." Hearing Mrs. Elisa both Kyle and Aiden looked at her. Until now they forgot that Mrs. Elisa was walking behind them.

"Ahh ok. Then... We are leaving."

Pastel pink-colored pants with a blazer and a black crop top. Sanaya was ready to walk on wearing pump heels. Pulling the rubber band she looked at the mirror, her long black hair fell on her back gorgeously.

She glared at the wedding ring on her finger that she was happy to keep looking at before, that was a symbol that she belonged to Nick and she was his wife. She never thought of taking it off before but now? Sanaya closed her eyes and sulked in a deep breath. She needed to get over the fake lies. Still keeping her eyes off she took the wedding ring off her finger and then opened her eyes.

Not even a single glance at the ring, she had put it in the drawer and turned her head. 'Time to go.' With a stony smile on her face, Sanaya walked down the stairs like a queen.

She walked to the breakfast table and sat exactly at the opposite of the chair Nick always sat on. "Sanaya... Good morning." Mrs. Elisa beamed at her.

"Morning." Sanaya had a serious look at her face even when she was gaping at her. Strange! She seemed to be different than she was before. Not only was the way she wore her office attire but her behavior was also different.

"Will I get my breakfast now or are you waiting for him?" Mrs. Elisa was looking at the second floor when Sanaya's serious tone made her look at Sanaya. "No, actually..."

Seeing Sanaya get up Mrs. Elisa walked to her. "What happened?"

"Nothing happened. I am going to work, bye Mrs. Elisa."

"But you haven't had your breakfast yet."

With a thin smile at her, Sanaya asserted, "It's ok. I will have it outside."

"No no. Please take a seat. I will tell them to serve right now." As Mrs. Elisa said so Sanaya replied, "That won't look good. Since Ni... I mean he did not come to the breakfast table yet I can not eat because... Because it will seem like I am eating before my boss." Smiling at her faintly Sanaya walked away slowly with her purse, her cell phone in her left hand when her purse in her right hand.

Mrs. Elisa kept looking at her confusingly, why did she talk that way? She used to wait for Nick before saying, "I am his wife. If he is not eating, I won't be eating either. I want him to have his stomach full first, it gives me happiness."

As Sanaya walked out of the mansion she closed her eyes. It was not her usual self, she was feeling suffocated... Touching her chest she tried to take a deep breath. Then she remembered him kissing that girl the other day, her eyes shot open.

She raised her head and walked on her pump heels.

"Good morning, Mr. Davis." As everybody saw Nick they bowed their head to him and greeted him. His hand at his pockets when Kyle was following him behind. When they got in the elevator Nick questioned Kyle in a calm voice of tone. "When is the next meeting you are going to attend?"

"Ahh ... In... In ten minutes." He answered. He did not expect to see Nick going to the meeting today but after getting out of the elevator he walked into the meeting room when Kyle followed behind.

As Nick entered the meeting room he gaped at Sanaya first who stood just like any other person present there. The Sanaya from other days and this Sanaya today he kept looking at her and only her, the whole time his gaze was fixed at her only.

"Mr. Davis?" Someone called out but Nick was too busy to stare at Sanaya. "Boss, should I say it?" He could hear Kyle's whispering, he nodded his head at Kyle.

When the meeting was over and Sanaya was packing her things Nick was sitting in the same pose and still looking at her. But when Sanaya prepared to leave he ordered in an authoritative tone, "Everybody except Mrs. Sanaya, you guys can leave first."

"Thank you, Mr. Davis." Along with everybody Kyle also left. Sanaya did not want to stay there so she walked towards the door to leave.

She touched the door to pull open and Nick pushed the door, not wanting to let her leave. As she pulled it again he pushed it off. Wearing a wry smile on her beautiful face Sanaya glared at him. "I need to leave. Please move."

As she touched the door, without wasting a second Nick grabbed her hand. In a minute Sanaya found herself pinned against the wall. "What are you doing? Mr. Davis."

"That again, don't call me Mr. Davis."

"I will call you whatever I want. Don't tell me just because I am your employee I don't have that..." She was pissing him off now. "You are not! You ain't my employee, you are my wife. What's wrong with you? Why did you this morning without having breakfast?"

His warm breath smooched her forehead gently, she found it hard to keep pretending but what could she do? "I was not hungry that's why."

"You haven't eaten yesterday night and also this morning, don't you know you are just..." He saw her chuckling. "Mr. Davis, I know what I am doing. Please move, I have a lot of files to..." She moved forward, thinking he could move but Nick moved more closer that their chest touched each other. Sanaya kept her eyes lowered as she did not want to feel her stupidity anymore. Stupid to think she meant something for him.

"Look at me." She heard Nick but she still kept her eyes lowered. Her silence was making him enraged more and more, hitting on the wall he said, "What the heck did I do? Why are you treating me coldly? You are not answering me, you don't look at me, you treat me like I am not your husband. I told you if I did anything then I can change it. Please don't stay quiet. It's making me lose my patience, Sanaya."

'I can ask you, will you answer me? If I ask you do you love me? You will be silent. If I ask you do you love someone else? You will say no just like you told me before that you did not have any girlfriend. I don't know what can I ask you anymore... Can you read my eyes? Can you give me all my answers and stop me from getting sad?' She raised her head and glared into his eyes. Her teary eyes, he did not know what did he do now that she had tears in her eyes.

Touching her face gently Nick kissed her forehead, "Please don't cry."

She held his arms, could she forget what happened before, what she saw? "I want to ask you something, can I?"

As Nick nodded his head slightly she moved some inches away. Wiping off her tears she swallowed. Clenching her fists gently she asked him, "I want you to be honest... Why did you propose me for marriage?"

"..." He remained silent. "If you want us to live like friends you can tell me... Anything it is, I can accept. If you want us to stay away from each other then please tell me the truth."

There was no meaning of just tossing around, it was better to know the truth so she could be sure. Taking a gulp Nick answered her, "Because you are beautiful..."

"Ohh... Ok, so after we get married, did you fall for me?"

"... No," Nick answered shortly.

"Do you love someone... Else?"

"No, I don't." Sanaya thought he would answer honestly but this was his honestly. 'Lair' she uttered.

Nodding her head slightly, trying to gulp all his answers today she asked him one last question in a low voice, "How about now? Do you... Do you think... Do you think that you have a few feelings... Feelings for me?" Sanaya had her fists clenched, asking him those questions was not as hard as hearing his answers and getting her hops trampled every time.

"Do I need to answer this?"

Sanaya nodded her head without looking at him, she was waiting for his last answer that was going to decide everything from now on. Putting his hands in his packet he answered her, "I think no..."

Sanaya felt shaking, she closed her eyes as one last drop of tears crawled down her eyes. Clearing her throat Sanaya had a tremulous smile on her face. She looked up as tears were getting hard to control. She wiped off her tears by the back of her palm.

"Thank you for answering. Have a good day." With that Sanaya walked towards the door when Nick asked her, "How about you? Do you love me?"

Turning back to him she let out a wistful smile, "Does it matter anymore?"

"Answer me, do you love me?"

With a mournful smile, Sanaya looked at him, "I don't." 'I wish I never loved you...' Her inner self answered him, only if he could hear it. Then she left.

As she left Nick felt extreme anger and frustration in his heart. He threw everything away, chairs here and there, he could not feel pain in his hands or legs but he was extremely angry.

On the other hand, Sanaya was hugging her knees and crying, she felt her legs weakening, she could not continue putting on a fake smile and keep walking. She did not know what was she going to do now.

"Miss... Sanaya..." Sanaya was crying but a suddenly not so familiar voice interrupted her. Wiping off her tears she looked up. "Mr. Selvano..." It was a month ago she guessed when she first and last time met him but she had a good memory, once seeing a person she could remember their face. Though he called her Miss instead of Mrs. It did not matter to her anymore.

Mr. Selvano smiled at her and extended his hand towards her. "Thank you." She took his help and got up.

"Are you okay?" He asked her. Sanaya never liked anybody to see her at her weakest time but today, she forgot that she was outside, anybody could see her crying.

Trying to hide her sadness she smiled faintly, "I am ok..."

"Is it because of breakup?" Sanaya was confused as he asked her such a question. She stared at him confusingly. "Your wedding ring is missing." He gestured at her finger.

Hiding her hand she smiled hesitantly then again she became sad. 'He did not even notice if I was wearing the wedding ring or not... Do I really not matter to him even one percent?' She remembered the whole time Nick saw her but he did not ask her anything about her not wearing the wedding ring nor vermilion. But here, Mr. Selvano saw her just for some hours in a day but he remembered she had a wedding ring on her finger. How strange! Her husband was less attentive towards her when an outsider remembered even little details about her.

Mr. Selvano cleared his throat, pulling her out of her trance. Sanaya and Mr. Selvano were walking side by side, both were silent. Usually, Sanaya would go back to work if it would be like before but now, she did not find it necessary.

Mr. Selvano's phone rang suddenly. Staring at the screen he took a glance at Sanaya quickly then he let out with a cheerful smile. "See you soon, Miss Sanaya."

"We won't meet again..."

"Who knows? Maybe we will meet the next day after tomorrow? Take care, bye." With that he turned around and waving his hand he walked away.

"Bye."

Sanaya looked at her shoes, she came to work not to be sad. She reminded herself. With a positive smile on her face, Sanaya took a deep breath and walked towards the elevator.
