Chapter 30: Chapter 30

"I don't want any excuse from you. Keep it in mind, don't be late again. I won't tolerate it." Nick told her, more like he warned her in a cold tone when everybody looked at her. Some felt bad and some felt unfair... They thought Nick was just too much. Even if she was late but she tried to explain her reason and far more she was not even informed that the meeting time has been rescheduled. But nobody could dare to say anything.

"Hey, are you ok?" Someone asked her. With a nod Sanaya smiled and grabbing all the files from the table she left from there...

Flashback

It was morning. Sanaya woke up when the rays of sun peeked through the curtain. As she woke up she found herself lying on the bed on her stomach. Rolling over the bed Sanaya walked towards the door. Her hair was messy, she did not brush her teeth yet.

When she opened the door she was surprised. Patting her chest she spoke in a low voice, "You....."

Nick's sudden hug made her startled and shocked. He just wrapped his arms around her, making it hard for her to move. He patted her head and kissed, "I am sorry. I was wrong, I was a damn bad husband..."

"How are you feeling now?" She asked him, not letting him finish. Nick looked at her, then he touched her shoulders. "I am ok. I..."

She interrupted him. Gently she touched his face and smiled. Somehow Nick did not get that vibe from her smile, he could see the sadness in her eyes. Sanaya glanced at him as she asserted in a low voice, "I just want one thing from you... "

"What is she going to ask for?" Nick tried to read her eyes.

"I don't know much about you yet. If there is... if there is anything like your dark secrets, I want you to share them with me... I will be your audience and listen to you... I just hope that you will share your sadness with me just like your happiness, do not keep everything to yourself only. You have a wife now, share your worries with me, Nick. That's all I want from you." Sanaya grinned and brushed her thumb against his face slowly. But seeing him silent she moved away, "It's ok if you can not tell me now, take your time. Remember, I am always here. By your side..."

With that, she left him alone. Nick turned to see her walking out of her room. He touched his cheeks, the warmth that he felt when she touched his face was gone along with her... That warmth, he felt long ago even it was kinda blurry but he could recall...

Sanaya got ready for work as fast as she could. When she was doing her ponytail she got to hear the notification sound of getting a message on her cell phone. She casually checked it and she was surprised. "Oh shit!" She ran out of her room immediately while hugging her bag tightly over the chest.

Wearing sneakers she walked towards the breakfast table. Seeing her gasping for breath Nick gaped at her, "you... Oka?"

Sanaya bobbed her head and sat on the chair. Without wasting her time looking at anybody around her Sanaya cleaned her plate as fast as she could. "Take it slow. You will choke up this way..." Hearing him she gazed at him. "I can handle it."

"I see." Nick was not yet done but as he saw her getting up he gazed at her. It did not happen like he thought, without bidding goodbye or anything Sanaya ran out of the grand foyer.

"Strange! Where is Aiden?" She looked at her wristwatch, "I will surely be late today. Where is Aiden?" She looked around. As she saw a Bodyguard Sanaya walked towards him. "Ahh, did you know..."

He answered without hearing her question, "He did not come yet."

"What?" Sanaya widened her eyes. When she was yet to understand what was going on she saw Mrs. Elisa walk towards her. "Mrs. Elisa..."

Walking to Sanaya she announced, "Little Nick told me... He told me that..."

Sanaya could not understand why Mrs. Elisa was hesitant. Looking at her wristwatch Sanaya asked her, "What did he say? Aiden won't send me to the office today?"

Mrs. Elisa looked at her, "Not only today..."

"What do you mean?" Clear confusion was reflecting on Sanaya's face. "He said that you want him to treat you just like he treats any other employees so... He said that from today on you will go to work alone, he said he won't help you anyhow in anything." True to say, Sanaya was disappointed. Yes, she did say that but what was wrong with just dropping her to work? Sanaya sighed and said, "Ok I know. Thanks for informing me..."

When she was about to leave Mrs. Elisa held her hand, "How will you go now? Do you know the way?" Sanaya seemed nervous. She nodded her head, "I... I don't know but I will surely do my best."

"Wait, I will talk to him..." Sanaya held her hand, "No, please. He... He did it right. I told him that I won't take special treatment from him. So he is just doing what I requested him to do. You don't worry, I will find the way and reach at work at the time too." With that Sanaya left with a smile. Mrs. Elisa could not do something, she felt bad for her. But as she told her not to talk to Nick, she did not talk to Nick.

"Did she leave?" Nick asked Mrs. Elisa as he saw her. She answered, "Yes." "Just like that?" Nick thought Sanaya would go back to him and request him to let Aiden be back but here, he was surprised.

Mrs. Elisa took a break, "She shouldn't have?"

Getting up to the chair he said casually, "She wanted this so she should be prepared." Mrs. Elisa kept looking at Nick when he was walking away. "Why do I feel like he wanted her to regret what she told him to do? As if he was waiting for her to come back to him and request her to send her to work?... If this is the case then little Nick is being childish!" Mrs. Elisa thought so.

"Change the timing of the meeting ten minutes before its scheduled time." Nick was sitting in the car while he called Kyle. "But Boss..." He was cut off by Nick. With pure annoyance in his tone, Nick told him, "No but. And I am going to attend the meeting. You don't need to go."

Kyle was surprised. What was wrong with his boss? He could not understand nor figure out anything.

Sanaya looked at her wristwatch and again at the Google map in her phone. She was seated in the bus while counting on the times continuously. Kyle informed her that the meeting time had been changed, that's why Sanaya did everything as fast as she could so she could get at the time there. But she did not expect to meet with troubles so soon. Aiden was not going to send her to work.

As the bus stopped she ran out by her legs as fast as she could. She had been one minute late already, she needed to reach there. "I will apologize to him for getting late. From tomorrow, I won't be late again..." Thinking so she got in the elevator. She took a deep breath as she ran fast, she was short of breath.

But the surprise she got was seeing that Nick there. She glared at Kyle and everybody. Was she late? Did she do something wrong? She did not know.

Nick glared at her coldly then he whispered to Kyle something. Sanaya walked ahead but seeing Kyle walk towards her she stopped and looked at him. "Please wait outside," Kyle told her.

"But..." Sanaya did not get a chance to speak up. "Please continue." She saw Nick say so, he did not even have a glance at her. What did she miss? Was he angry at her because she was two minutes late? Sanaya clenched her fists nervously and stood outside just like Kyle told her to do so.

After almost ten minutes Nick came out when Kyle was following behind him. To say something Sanaya opened her mouth but she had to keep her mouth shut again as Nick told her, "What do you want to say?"

"I am so sorry, I was two minutes late. I.." she was cut off easily by Nick. "Not only two minutes but twelve minutes..."

As she heard him her eyes widened, "Two.. twelve minutes?" "You know I hate unprofessional people. You are not punctual at all."

"But I..." She looked at Kyle who seemed sorry for not telling her about the timing. "What is it?"

Sanaya grabbed her fingers at her back and looking at him she explained, "I was late because I did not know the way. I mean I was searching for the direction to..." Nick chuckled. She looked at him with a confused gaze, "...."

Nick's smile was still there but the tone was different, "Do you have any better excuse to give me?"

"It's not an excuse. I..."

"I don't want any excuse from you. Keep it in mind, don't be late again. I won't tolerate it."... Sanaya was left behind. Without hearing her anymore he just left like that. Sanaya needed to gulp yet what just happened.

People were concerned about her but her husband? He did not give a damn about her! "Right, I should not have been late. From tomorrow I will be here at times. But I don't know why did not Kyle informed me beforehand?"

Kyle looked at her from the elevator before the door closed, "I am sorry. I was told to not let you know about the change of meeting time... I could not help you..."

Taking a deep sigh Sanaya decided she would not stay sad. Trying to think that nothing happened Sanaya focused on work only.

"Is she working?" His eyes were glued to the computer screen when Nick asked Kyle so. Kyle put the file in his hand on the table, "yes."

"How did she look?" Nick took the file and questioned him. "I did not notice." Kyle just saw Sanaya once and after that, he did not see her.

"Ahh, I see."

"Boss, are you concerned? I can go and take a... Look." Kyle stopped talking as he saw Nick look at him. Kyle lowered his eyes. Taking a sigh of annoyance Nick signed on the papers and threw it towards Kyle. "No need."

"As you say." When Kyle left Nick started feeling impatient. He did scold her this morning but after that, he started feeling bad, he was thinking of what she might be doing...

It was evening. Sanaya was done with work, she was going to go home when Kyle went to her. "Ma'am..."

"You wanna say something?" Sanaya did not want to hold a grudge against anybody. Kyle was hesitant to utter a word, he grabbed his wrist by his other hand as he said, "I am..."

"If you want to say sorry then don't say it." Hearing Sanaya Kyle was astonished. "You know..."

As Sanaya walked he followed her. "Boss has told me to get you. He will be waiting for you in the car." He let her know. Sanaya smiled and announced, "Tell him that I will be going alone."

"What? No ..." She cut him off, giving him no chance to talk. "I will meet him at the mansion. Tell him I will be at home at the time." With that, she walked away. Kyle was left alone. Itching his head he went to Nick in a hurry.

"I knew it. She will surely be tired and go back home with me..." Thinking Sanaya might be coming with Kyle Nick smirked but he was disappointed as he saw only Kyle but not Sanaya. "Where is she?"

With a sad face, Kyle answered him, "Tell him that I will be going alone. I will meet him at the mansion. Tell him I will be at home at the time. That's what she said."

"What?"

"Yes..." Kyle was worried about Nick. He was surely going to burst out right now. He would surely be very angry at Kyle, he was concerned about it.

"Boss, I told her that you are waiting for her in the car. But she... She left..." Kyle told him with a trembling voice. Nick loosened his clenched fists and took a deep breath, "ok, I got it. Get in."

"Huh?" Kyle's eyes widened, trying to believe what Nick told him. "Fine, the driver let's go."

Hearing Nick he got in the car immediately.
