Chapter 44: Chapter 44
I didn't want to make her scared or anything, but I think her ex boyfriend finally found us . There should be different explanations for everything that's happening because we took the normal precautions necessary for us to keep ourselves well hidden.
Michael would do anything to keep Precious safe and that was something I admired greatly about their relationship.
Thinking of it now, I should even suggest that she tell Michael so he could look for a solution to keep her safe.
I love her, and I'll do everything to make sure she's safe but at this point I don't think there's much I could do.
If it was possible, I wanted us to move to a new environment but with the pay at our present job, it'll be hard to stop anywhere and Precious was finally doing something she loves. It will be hard to leave.
She is the only family I have and it doesn't imply that my real parents are dead or anything because they are very well alive.
I am the first born, and I have a younger brother but because my parents wanted a son who would take over their company and me being a girl didn't help matters so they poured all their attention on my brother. Don't get me wrong, I love my brother but I hated being left aside and treated like I committed a crime for being a girl.
Since the day I left home, I don't think they looked for me well because they thought I probably wouldn't be able to survive and I'll come back home but I surprised them. I missed my brother but I wanted to prove that I could survive well without them.
"Are you still thinking about what happened?" Precious asked.
"Of course not, I'm just thinking of something else."
We were taking a break for a while, that was the reason we were able to start a conversation.
Another thing I liked about this place is that they were considerate of their workers, giving us breaks in between.
"You're sure?" She asked again.
"I told you before, there's nothing to worry about and it's most likely a secret admirer."
"If you say so."
"Don't worry." I assured her.
When the break was over, we went back to our duty so that we wouldn't take their generosity for granted.
Throughout the day, my mind kept drifting back and forth about the whole thing but anytime I noticed precious looking at me, I'd offer her a small smile which seemed to calm her down a bit.
In no time, we were done with work and it was time to go back home and I actually couldn't wait to get on my bed and relax my whole body.
"I couldn't wait to finish today." Precious said beside me.
She didn't know, but she just spoke my mind.
"Why?" I asked.
"Mr Richard wouldn't stop asking and checking up on me like I was pregnant." She murmured.
"He still hasn't given up with his match making?" I asked again.
"Sadly, I think he wants me to get married to his son who I still don't know."
"Maybe you should meet up with the said son, who knows, you might become friends."
"Michael would beat up someone's son. You needed to be there the day I told him about it. Trust me I don't want to try it again." She said.
I understand even beyond what she was explaining to me as I've seen the way Michael is with her.
"Today's work is over thankfully right?" I said.
"Yea." Was her response.
When we got home, David was standing in front of the house and I actually hissed at the sight….don't judge, Precious might have forgiven him but I haven't because if anything had happened with Michael and she was left heartbroken it wouldn't be funny.
"Hmmm….hi." Precious greeted suspiciously, eyeing the flowers he was holding.
"I know you said you'll think about it, but I couldn't help it so I got you this." He said.
He handed her the flower he was holding and a box I knew contained chocolate. He also offered her an awkward smile when she didn't say anything.
"You didn't have to." She said.
He totally has to, and she better not return that chocolate because I didn't care about the flowers.
"I wanted to, and it's no big deal." He said.
"You're also sure you didn't drop the flowers in the morning?" She asked hopefully.
"I didn't, when you asked me in the morning, I felt I should do the same, that's why I got it." He explained.
"That's fine, I just thought you were playing a prank on me." She told him.
"Can we enter our house now?" I asked, not because I really wanted to, but I wanted to devour that delicious chocolate already.
"Okay." He said and shifted away from the door.
"You didn't have to be rude." Precious said glaring at me but I think I look cute doing it.
"I wasn't rude, I just want to eat that chocolate he gave you."
"I'm not giving you out of it." She threatened.
"You wouldn't dare." I said.
"Don't underestimate me sister."
Before she continued, I started tickling her which made her laugh loudly.
"You can have it." She said, amidst laughter.
"I thought as much."
"You're mean sometimes."
"You love me." I said, sticking my tongue out.
"So mature." She said sarcastically.
"Whatever."
The next morning, as we went to work, I felt like we were being watched so I turned back but I didn't see anyone and I didn't mention it to Precious.
"Hi, can I talk to you?" We heard a girl say and boy, she's beautiful.
As I made an attempt to move towards her, she shook her head and pointed to Precious who looked at me in confusion.
Precious moved towards her, but I didn't make an attempt to move.
"Alone please." The unknown lady said.
"Who the fuck is she and what does she want?" I thought
