Chapter 37: Chapter 37

When Michael left, I didn't want to disturb Comfort who had her boyfriend over so I came back outside only to be met with David….. just perfect.

"Hy David." I greeted.

"Precious." He responded, then we both fell into an awkward silence.

I didn't know how to start a conversation with him that wouldn't be worse than this silence, so I started coughing.

"We didn't get to finish our conversation the other day before your friend came around." He said.

"Yea…" I said, not sure how to tell someone you know has a crush on you that the person he thinks is your friend is now your boyfriend.

"I saw you with him, you know." He said.

"He comes here almost every day." I replied.

"I know that, I'm talking about the fact that I saw you guys kissing in his car." He continued and I froze.

"Oh, that." I said, chuckling nervously.

"Yea, that."

"He's my boyfriend now, and I really like him, you know." I said.

"Wow... that's surprising, I expected more from you. I thought you were different." He said, clearly disappointed but I don't get all this "I thought you were different" speech he was giving.

"What do you mean by that? I don't understand." I asked.

"You didn't look like a girl who'd date a guy because of what he has." He said.

"Was he talking about the car Michael drove which belonged to Noah or something else I didn't know about?" I thought.

"He's just an average person, that car belongs to his friend if that's what you're talking about." I explained.

"You're really naive, aren't you?" He asked.

I was practically confused, I didn't understand why David was talking to me like this.

"What do you mean?" I asked, but he didn't reply, he just looked at me.

I loved being his friend before he asked me out, but this is going to make things awkward for us. I wanted to explain myself, so probably we could go back to being friends as that's the closest thing to a family that I have.

"Nothing." He replied.

"It's definitely not nothing, just tell me." I begged.

He didn't, he only went on about how right from the beginning he had always had eyes from me and that he told his friends about me which they teased him about and all.

"I liked you too." I told him.

"Liked huh?" He asked, smiling sadly at me.

"I'm really sorry David." I apologised.

"I'm sorry too." He said, but I wondered why.

"Why are…." I started when I felt him place his lips on mine. I was shocked as to why he did it when he knew I had a boyfriend.

"What the hell?" I said, and pushed him when I realized what was happening.

"I just want to prove that I really like you." He said calmly, while I freaked out.

"Is that how to prove that you like someone?" I screamed at him.

"You didn't give me a chance to, how else do I express how I feel?" He asked, not remorseful.

"Respect my decisions for instance." I said.

"What's going on here?" I heard Comfort ask.

"When did she get here?" I asked myself.

"Nothing." David answered.

"She's crying, what did you do to her?" She asked, and I didn't even realize I was crying.

"I kissed her, I don't know why she's making it look…." He started explaining, but Comfort's hand on his face kept him shut.

"She slapped him."

David stood there, looking shocked and the same with George who couldn't believe his eyes.

"You did what? Are you crazy?" She asked. But just as she raised her hand to slap him again, George wrapped his hand around her waist restraining her from doing so.

"Leave me, let me show this dickhead what he gets when he wrongs my sister." She screamed, drawing the attention of other tenants.

George whispered something to her ears, before she calmed down and let her go. She came over to me, hugging me and immediately more years started dropping.

I didn't know why I was crying, but it definitely seemed like I just cheated on Michael and in just what? a day into our relationship.

"It's okay." She murmured, leading me to our room not without glaring at David.

"I cheated on Michael, what if he breaks up with me?" I asked her, the tears increasing at the thought of it.

"I'm sure he'll understand when you explain it to him, and maybe he can do justice to David's face since someone I know wouldn't let me." She finished, throwing a glare at George.

"Ok." I said, wiping my tears off with my handkerchief.

This wasn't how I planned to meet Comfort's boyfriend but I guess the earth had something else in mind.

She introduced us, and after a while he decided it was time to leave so Comfort saw him off, leaving me to think about the best way to tell Michael….or is there a need to?

I made up my mind to tell him tomorrow, so in case he wants to end it, it wouldn't be this night

"I'm sure it'd be fine, and David would be on the receiving end." She said.

"I hope so." I thought.

"I have some explaining to do."
