Chapter 18: Chapter 18

THIRD POV

After the meeting’s events, Dominic figured out a way to prove that he was the father of Scarlett's children. He got the children’s stuff to DNA it because, even though he believes he is the father, he wants to ensure Scarlett can’t lie to him.

“Mr. Stone?”

Dominic took a deep breath and looked at the doctor before standing up to speak with her.

“W-what are you doing here?” asked their family doctor.

He was determined to do this, so he grabbed the envelope containing Scarlett’s children’s belongings.

He also knows that what he is about to do will frustrate Scarlett, but he believes that if they are his children, he has rights as well.

“I just want to be certain of something,” he said. It took aback the Doctor and hesitated to let him into her office.

“Mr. Stone, what do you want me to do?”

He exhaled and set the envelope he was holding on the table. “I’d like to do a DNA test,” said Dominic, and because of what he said to her, the doctor’s eyes widened.

“D-DNA?”

“Hmm…” He nodded and turned to face the doctor. “I want to make sure we’re a good match for the kids who use it,”

The doctor just looked at him, but she just nodded, held the items, and smiled.

“I’ll take care of it, Mr. Stone,”

He gave a nod. “I’ll wait for the results,”

While the DNA is being processed, his only hope is to remain positive so that if they are his children, he will not lose them again.

He wanted to be close to Scarlett’s children, but he couldn’t because they’re kept away from him, and Scarlett didn’t want them to be close to him, either.

He can’t blame her for what she’s doing because he had a sin, and he knows Scarlett is only trying to protect her children, so he understands her feelings.

Not only that, but he also regrets the sin he committed. If Sophia hadn’t blackmailed him, perhaps the family they had built before would not have lost.

He hoped it wasn’t this messy now.

It’s been a month, and the DNA he’s been waiting for has arrived. He exhaled and entered the doctor’s office. The doctor smiled at him and motioned for him to take a seat.

“Are you ready for the results?”

He just nodded, unable to speak because of his fear of the results.

“As a result—”

He closed his eyes and prepared his ears for the results.

“--99.9% certain that you’ll match with them, Mr. Stone; congratulations!”

His eyes widened because he still couldn’t believe what the doctor said. But when the doctor nodded to him, he felt relieved because he was right that he was the father of Scarlett’s children. Even though his hand was shaking as he handed over the DNA test, which he read again to be certain.

He cried after the reading of the test because he knows the results will be accurate.

Dominic rushed to the Knight palace after leaving the hospital because he was eager to see his children.

“DA—Uncle!”

“Uncle…”

He came to a halt and stared at the two of them as those who whispered to each other.

“H-Hi?” said Dominic, and when he saw his children in front of him, he realized he was crying again.

“Why are you crying, uncle?” asked Carrie, and Dominic noticed Carrie was concerned about him.

While wiping away his tears, he laughed and shook his head. Dominic smiled and patted them on their head.

“Can I hug you?” he asked, opening his arms to confirm that he could.

Carrie and Agustin exchanged glances before Carrie nodded and hugged Dominic, who hugged Carrie while closing his eyes because he was only now going to experience hugging his children.

He feels nothing else, not even by blood, with Tara, Sophia’s daughter, but he will still stand by his responsibility to Tara, even if it goes against his heart.

He believes neither Tara is his daughter from his connection with Sophia, but Sophia has already spread the word to everyone that they had a relationship, and she got him pregnant. So, he has done nothing but stand up for his responsibility.

“Mommy!”

It took aback, him when Carrie screamed, but he just knelt in front of his children. He clenched his fist and took a deep breath before turning to Scarlett when he didn’t hear a response from her.

“Carrie, Agustin, go to your rooms right now.”

The children hesitated, but they did nothing but obey their mother's orders.

Carrie even looked at Dominic, but he just smiled and nodded, so Carrie smiled back before following her brother.

Dominic stood up and wiped his tears away before confronting Scarlett once again.

Scarlett asked, “What are you doing here?” He clenched his fists.

“Can’t I go see my kids?” asked Dominic, a grin on his face. It took a back, Scarlett but shook her head.

“You are not the father, Dominic; please do not disturb my children,” said Scarlett as she walked towards their room, but Dominic grabbed her arm and she came to a halt.

“No, Scarlett. I am their father. They are my children, our children,”

Scarlett chuckled as she removed his hand from her arm.

“Do you hear what I’m saying? How many times do I have to tell you they are not your children?” Scarlett shook her head, not wanting to argue with Dominic, so she inhaled and looked at Dominic. “Open your mind, Dominic, so you know what I’m saying is true,” she said before walking away when Dominic stopped her again.

“What? Are you listening? You're hurting me!”

Dominic was stunned by what he did, so he let go of her.

“Don’t fool me anymore, Scarlett, because I already know! I know they’re my children!” Dominic yelled as he threw the DNA test results in front of Scarlett.

Scarlett widened her eyes as she examined the contents of the envelope.

“N-no. T-the result just lies—” Scarlett froze before dropping the envelope and covering her mouth.

“Enough lying, Scarlett,” said Dominic, shaking his head as he approached the woman, but Scarlett moved away. “Can you just admit it? I have a right to them as their father as well.”

Scarlett was stunned, as if she had just awoken, and couldn’t believe she was looking at him.

“You have no right to them!” yelled Scarlett, pushing Dominic. “You have no rights over my children because you cheated on me!” she ripped up the DNA test result in front of Dominic.

“You have lost the right to my children because you cheated me!” she glared at Dominic. “And you claim you have the right?”

She slapped the envelope to him and took a few deep breaths before turning to face him again.

“Yes. They are your children. Yes, we had a child, and yes, we created our dream, but that also disappeared when you cheated on me.”

She's hitting Dominic, who caught her wrist, but Dominic let her do it because he was aware of all his sins.

Scarlett closed her eyes and took a deep breath before pulling away from the young man. “Just leave, Dominic. Don’t disturb my children. I don’t want them to feel whatever is going on between the three of us,” she said as she wiped her tears and turned away from him. “Please, I beg you, don’t involve my children because I don’t want them to get hurt,” her fists clenched.

“Scarlett,”

Scarlett didn’t look back at him. “My family has many problems, so I would rather not add any mess right now,” said Scarlett as she entered the room.

“Damn it,”

He stomped and messed up his hair. When he discovered the truth, he expected to fix everything, but the situation only worsened.

He couldn’t even say what he wanted to because he had hurt Scarlett so much. He is familiar with the woman, who is difficult to forgive when someone is involved here.

Dominic didn’t even speak because he knew Scarlett was right, that he needed to clear up any mistakes between him and Sophia before trying to atone for his sins in the face of his children.

When he got down the stairs, he noticed Sophia waiting to bother him again. He just sighed and ignored the woman, but Sophia didn’t stop.

“Are you the father of those bastards?”

He came to a halt and turned to Sophia, who seems to have overheard what they were discussing. “So, what if I am?” he asked Sophia.

Sophia’s eyes widened, and she moved closer to Dominic. “What? No! Tara is your only child, Dominic, not the bastards—” it took aback Sophia when Dominic slapped her, so she grabbed her cheek in surprise while staring at Dominic.

Dominic glared at her and said, “Don’t call my children bastards, Sophia.”

“You hurt me just because of them?” yelled Sophia. “I will be your wife, Dominic! We will be your family! Forget about them.”

Because of Sophia’s desperation, he only laughed and shook his head.

“It seems you’re forgetting that I’m not going through with the marriage,” said Dominic as Sophia was taken a back. “You’re the only one who cares about keeping our wedding.”

He kicked the sofa before leaving, but he stopped when Sophia spoke to him.

“OK, choose them; don’t blame me if anything bad happens to them.”

He turned to Sophia, but there was no sign of the woman's shadow.

“Try me, Sophia, and you’ll see how I get angry.”

He looked back again before he exited the mansion.

He sighed before getting into the car. All he needs to do now is to calm Scarlett’s rage to continue his plans to decide on his family. He will not let them leave his side again.
