Bang! Bang! Bang!

Attorney Chris jerked when he heard the not-so-subtle knock on the door. His previously lewd expression froze.

He frowned deeply and looked to the side to think.

' Who could be at the door at this hour?' Attorney Chris wasn't expecting anyone for the rest of the day. He'd messaged all of his clients that he had a flight to catch tonight and therefore would not be available for business.

' Nosy neighbors perhaps?' Attorney Chris gritted his teeth in frustration and annoyance. He had been so riled up just now, only for someone to disrupt his moment of ecstasy.

Attorney Chris grumbled as he rose from atop Val who scrambled to hide in the corner while covering her body with the towel.

Attorney Chris scoffed as he grabbed his saggy pants that he'd prior unbuckled from his waist, he held it up and buckled the belt while he muttered. " Worthless neighbors!"

Bang! Bang!

" I'm coming!" Attorney Chris called out when the knocking didn't stop. His voice was still hoarse as he still hadn't gotten over the excitement that surged through his being. He walked out of the bedroom after having warned Val with a raised finger.

" We're a couple okay? And do not move an inch, you stay here!"

He had to inform Val of her role just to be careful. It was obvious that the neighbor came knocking with the excuse that they were being disturbed by all the noises made by Val. Not that they would inquire about his relationship with Val but seeing the state she's in and with the fright written all over her face, Attorney Chris couldn't take the chance. He wouldn't risk getting reported to the police by nosy neighbors after coming such a long way.

' It's high time I move to a single apartment. By the way, I'll say Val got scared after they banged at the door that way if they ever ask why she looks so scared. Tsk!' He thought knowing Val would most definitely try to ask for help from whoever it is.

" Whooo!' Attorney Chris exhaled to shake off his excitement, regaining his professional character.

" Who is it?" Attorney Chris asked out of habit as he crossed the living room and headed towards the door to the apartment.

" San Francisco PD, open the door or we'll be forced to barge in!"

Hearing this, attorney Chris stopped on his walk. His expression froze and he stared at a loss as if his ears were playing tricks on him.

' P-police?' He frowned.

Val who peeked from the door of the bedroom beamed in delight hearing that the police were there. She heaved a deep sigh in relief but didn't let it show on her face. Just now she thought she would be defiled by attorney Chris. Val was only fortunate that someone came just in time to stop him as she wouldn't have been able to do so otherwise. She was pinned down and vulnerable. Val shuddered still when she recollected how helpless she'd been just now.

She still didn't believe that her prior actions had caused the police to be here now, Val felt the need to confirm that it was really the police before she acted.

' Why are the police here?!' Attorney Chris noticing Val peeking with a pitiful expression and wet eyes by the door to the bedroom couldn't help but shoot an accusatory stare at her. However, seeing how helpless and bereaved she was, he discarded the thought that it was her. After all, she had no means to contact anyone since he'd kept a watch on her and she couldn't have contacted them while she was in the bathroom. He had made certain that she had nothing on her when she had gone to the bathroom after all.

' Or could it be?' Attorney Chris' eyes widened when a thought occurred to him. Could it be that she and the driver, Aidan, had a secret phrase to convey discreet messages to themselves? Attorney Chris thought it was plausible as that was the only time Val had contacted someone. Her acts of stalling afterward were also very logical.

Attorney Chris' veins bulged realizing he'd been fooled. He wanted to pounce on Val and tear her into pieces for what she did. He knew he shouldn't have trusted her words in the first place.

" Open this door now, or we'll be forced to barge in!" The deep loud bellow from outside resonated once again in a thick muffle through the tight-shut door.

Attorney Chris panicked on the spot. He thought to grab Val and threaten to harm her to get his way out but he had nothing on him to carry out such a threat.

He glared at Val who stared back at him with a scornful expression as he thought of what to do.

Before he could grab anything, Val would have locked herself in the bedroom and by then, the police would barge in. He'd have no way to vindicate himself anymore as he'd be deemed a criminal.

" Calm down. It's just the police" Attorney Chris convinced himself. He planned to finesse his way out as the well-respected lawyer that he is.

' When this is over, I'm so gonna deal with Val...' He swore as he composed himself to answer the door. Attorney Chris feigned his trademark professional smile as he calmly walked towards the door.

" Coming" He called and reached to unlatch the lock. He grabbed the handle and turned it to open the door

" Good evening, gentlemen" Attorney Chris greeted the officers who stood by the door just as he opened it.

" Good evening sir. We got a distress call from this address about a woman being held under threat. Is it fine if we make a quick check-in?" A tall officer with tanned skin and dark eyes stepped forward to ask. His face was stoic and devoid of compassion as he towered above Attorney Chris. He flashed his badge quickly as he spoke.

' Distress call?! That wench, she really went and done it when I warned her not to!'

Attorney Chris didn't show emotions riling from his thoughts on his face. Instead, he smiled and pointed behind him,

" Please" He invited them to come in.

The officer nodded and signaled to the other two officers behind him; one male and the other female.

The tall officer walked into the apartment and just as the other two walked past Attorney Chris, Val showed up in the foyer wrapped in the white towel, her clothes that she'd left in the living room were now in her hands as well as her bag.

" His phone! Grab his phone quickly! He's a blackmailer!" She screamed alertedly. She had been waiting all his while to see if it was really the police. After hearing the tall officer introduce himself, Val didn't stay behind any longer.

As if already planned, the female officer went towards Val while the other male officer moved towards Attorney Chris,

" Sir, you're under arrest for suspected acts of blackmailing and forceful abduction..."

Attorney Chris' eyes widened hearing this, his heart raced wildly, perplexed as to whether he should flee. He was standing by the door after all.

However, he knew there was a chance that an officer was standing outside just in case, and he would only be proving suspicious then.

Attorney Chris never thought Val would come out to expose him like this. He had mentioned that he had other means to leak her nudes even if she did anything to her phone, and he never thought she wouldn't buy his bluff.

' The e pictures on the phone!' For a moment, attorney Chris was at a loss as to what to do. If the pictures were found on his phone, then that would prove he was really blackmailing Val.

The attorney panicked and looked about in search of a way out. All prior plans he had in case this scenario ever happened became distant in an instant.

' I-its fine, I can play as though we were once couples' Attorney Chris held unto his last line.

' Yeah, that's right. She has no way of proving that I blackmailed her. After all, I never touched her

Attorney Chris who shook in spot, held out his hands for the officer in surrender. He planned to play it by the book.

" Ma'am if you'll calm down and come with me please," The female officer said.

" Ma'am stay cool alright? Everything is under control" The tall tan officer assured Val.

Val, who was in a state of frenzy and dismay, had her eyes on Attorney Chris the whole time. The way the officer cuffed him wasn't enough to assure her that she was safe. After all, he might have other ways to leak her nudes that she might not know about.

" H-he still has those pictures of me with him. You don't understand, he'll leak them. Please, please help!" Val literally begged with reddened eyes while pointing at Attorney Chris. She faced the tall officer and pleaded with him to do something.

" Val? What the heck is going on? You said it was fine to take those pictures of you!" Attorney Chris complained, acting as though he wasn't certain what was going on. He planned to act as though he and Val were a couple.

' If she's using the opportunity, then I'll do the same. Fuck! This dumb bitch! I should've known she's ill-lucked!' He cursed in his mind.

" Calm down miss. He won't be able to do so." The tan officer said again. He still wasn't sure what was going on as there have been numerous cases where couples fighting used everything they have against themselves, including using nude pictures of themselves on the other person's phone to claim being blackmailed.

But of course, it could also be a genuine case of blackmail and forceful abduction.

The tall officer was confused as to whom to believe. They had only gotten a brief detail of what was going on during their patrol about a distress call made by a woman under threat.

However, he leaned more toward the respectable attorney. He wouldn't risk his profession for such a petty thing as blackmailing right?

' Who knows if she is only faking it and just wants this guy in jail in revenge. Lots of crazy women out here!'

" Alright. Have them taken away and figure out what's going on. Bring in Tarveski, we need to search this place for any clue" The tall officer ordered. He had a job to do and he wouldn't discriminate between the parties.

The other officer nodded and escorted attorney Chris out of the apartment.

Attorney Chris glared at Val dangerously as he was cuffed and taken away first by the other officer. Though, he maintained his calm and complied with the arrest.

Val seeing attorney Chris being taken away heaved a deep sigh of relief. Her breath became heavy and her whole body weakened. Val held the female officer for support as she caught hold of herself.

" It's okay now," The female police officer consoled her.

Val trusted the police and didn't argue with them any longer. She wiped the tears on her face and followed the female officer out of the apartment after putting on her clothes.

It was finally over. The threat and torture she faced was over. However, Val was traumatized.
