Margarette was still looking at Courtney with a gaze that asked a million questions as to what she was talking about when she heard her say with an evil grin,

" There you are"

Margarette became even more confused, why was Courtney looking right at her?

' Or wait...' Margarette slowly turned her head and she visibly trembled setting sight on a figure standing behind her. Maggie was so shocked that she just stared dumbfounded at Val. She was simply without a reaction, baffled as to whether to stay put or flee. To think someone was in the office hiding behind the sofa where she sat all along.

However, Maggie soon frowned when a thought occurred to her.

' How did she get in?'

She could very well remember swiping the key card to the office with her own hands.

' Unless...' She raised her brows when she realized something about what was going on.

Val walked out into the open from behind the sofa with her head lowered but with a resolute expression. Though nervous and anxious as to what was going to happen from here on, Val still decided to act tough. She'd been caught now, she could only find out how and negotiate her way out.

" Hahaha! Good. I wasn't expecting that you'd really try to do this. You did it all for Bob?" Courtney chuckled as she asked. She seemed amused and most importantly wanted to make Val fall into more despair.

" What? Y-you knew I was going to do this?" Val shot her gaze up and asked. A deep frown was worn over her pretty face. Courtney's words just now indicated that she already knew Val infiltrating her office.

' It couldn't be that Bob and attorney Chris sold me off right?' Val's eyes widened in disbelief.

" Why am I not aware?" Maggie who'd basically figured out what was going on muttered to herself in a dejected manner.

She had been in the car with Courtney just a while ago along with that other person, about to go to the airport and get aboard their scheduled flight to Seattle when Courtney suddenly received a call. After the call, Courtney said she had forgotten something upstairs and wanted to get it.

At first, Maggie didn't get why she would come upstairs to come get it herself when Courtney could have had someone else bring it to her.

But anyway, Maggie followed behind her back to her office. And that was why they were here now. Only that there was a hidden scheme behind all of Courtney's claims.

' It must all have been that man's plot' When Courtney spoke about having her stay in the company in San Francisco and not coming along with her to Seattle, Maggie had forgotten that the third person hadn't entered with them. She had also been so occupied with trying to convince Courtney to allow her come with her to Seattle that she didn't notice he had stayed outside the door for an unknown reason.

" You can come in now" Maggie heard Courtney call out towards the door and she couldn't help but sigh while looking at Val who had been fooled.

Val was still baffled but she had a conjecture of what had happened. Could it be that one of the people that Chris had hired from the security team to keep an eye on the camera had betrayed them?

However, Val couldn't be any wrong and couldn't have felt any more bereaved when the door to the office opened and she turned around to see who walked into the office with a different attitude from what Val knew.

Her eyes widened and trembled in shock, and her jaws slacked as her mouth dropped in utter disbelief.

Dressed in a formal blue suit, with his blond hair neatly combed back, Standing by the door with an evil smirk was Bob's lawyer,

" Attorney Chris!?" Val exclaimed both in shock and confusion. He was the last person she could have ever expected to see.

Isn't he a lawyer, what about his license, wasn't he afraid of losing his professional career?

' Did Bob know about this too? No, he probably didn't.' Val thought. Not that she trusted Bob blindly, but because she knew Bob knew nothing of this at all. This was all Attorney Chris' plan from the start. And Val's mistake was not contacting Bob to confirm.

" Haha! I like that look on your face. You'll have to make that for me later as well..." Attorney Chris chortled as he said. His kind and professional countenance had disappeared at this point. He seemed more like a scheming friend.

" So now Val, I guess you already realize what's going on as you could figure this out yourself without anyone here having to tell you right?"

" I'll only say one thing, show up in court tomorrow and be a witness to you having been intimate with Bob," Courtney demanded in a cold tone.

Val whose widened gaze was still on Attorney Chris' figure, staring a hole at him and feeling the urge to lunge at him and tear him to pieces heard Courtney say and couldn't help but shoot her gaze towards the CEO,

" What!?"

" You heard me... After all, you'll only be speaking the truth?" Courtney chortled evilly and peered a gaze at Attorney Chris whose grin widened.

Val was slightly taken aback and she stared at the desk that Courtney sat behind, at a loss as to what to do or say.

She opened her mouth to speak but she found herself with nothing to say. She just stood there, feeling flustered and defeated. Where was Bob at this moment? It was only him that Val had in the heart that he was capable of saving her in this situation.

" Tsk! That look on your face, irritates me!" Courtney hissed as she stated coldly. " You're still thinking of sticking to Bob's side? I don't get why you'd want to stick to the side of that loser" Not that Courtney hated Val's trust in Bob, but she actually hated that she couldn't be like her.

" It's none of your damn business!" Val retorted coldly, her eyes had become reddened and moist.

" I don't betray people who have helped me and I don't hurt people who don't deserve to be hurt" Val was furious at Courtney. She didn't get why she would complicate things for everyone. She could have just divorced Bob if that was what she was after, But no... She had to do all of this to achieve her goal. Ruining the lives and relationships of those involved.

Val was just tired. If it meant her dream would be ruined just so Courtney's goals would be foiled, then so be it!

Courtney clenched her teeth hard and rubbed her index finger against her thumb. She had a frown on her face as Val's statement just now hit a certain spot in her.

Realizing Val wouldn't give in that easily, Courtney waved her hand a few moments later and said, " Attorney Chris, please."

" Haha! See I knew she would be stubborn and wouldn't succumb to petty persuasions. That's why I told you only I can make her submit in the first place." Attorney Chris stepped forward to face Val.

Val frowned at this and couldn't help but step back a bit. She had a feeling that this creep was up to no good at all. She could tell from the lewd expression on his face that this time.

" You see my dear Valerie, remember the first time you were at my place and had a little shut-eye, waking up in my bed?" Attorney Chris grinned and Val's prior resolute gaze broke into that of sheer despair.

Val could definitely remember how she had seen Attorney Chris' face before her view went pitch black as she fell unconscious back then. Also, Val could never forget the weirdness that crept All over her body after she woke up that day as well.

Connecting the dots, Val realized she had been a fool for having not trusted her gut feelings back then. Hell, she even spoke with the attorney plenty of times afterward as though nothing happened. Though she instinctively knew something happened but decided to push it aside.

Now it has come to haunt her!

Seeing the smile on attorney Chris' face now, she visibly trembled and felt tiny itches crawling all over her skin. She felt naked and subconsciously covered her body with her hands.

" Hahaha! I only took pictures, I didn't do what shouldn't be done... yet" Attorney Chris grinned evilly.

Val's heart sank and she fell into despair, her legs weakened when attorney Chris pulled out his phone to show her what he was talking about.

Val's eyes shook and her whole body trembled.

" So, Val. what do you say?" Attorney Chris asked with a cold smirk on his face still. He knew he had Val right where he wanted.

Val was simply broken at the moment. she was speechless, and without a single thing to do at this point. Nothing to do, nothing to say.

" I thought as much too." Courtney nodded with a short chuckle and propped herself up on the table, rising from her seat.

" I guess that's that about that. I have a flight to catch attorney Chris. I trust you know what to do" she stated as she walked towards the door.

" Yeah, leave everything to me." Attorney Chris nodded whilst his condescending gaze still fell on Val who stood dejected and devastated in place.

Maggie who had watched everything from the side stood up from the sofa to follow behind Courtney as she walked out of the office. She felt bad for Valerie finding herself in such a situation. Not that she pitied her or anything but that she couldn't see herself in her place, doing everything she could for her mistress only to be betrayed by some creepy dude. She couldn't understand why Courtney would get involved with such a dirty and two-faced creep, but she guessed it was necessary. Maggie tried to envision what to do in such a situation but she could only shudder in rejection of it ever coming to reality. She wouldn't know how to bear it.

As they walked away through the small corridor towards the elevator, Maggie stared at Courtney's back and couldn't help but wonder just how cruel this woman was.

' B-but I love her. I do" Margarette was concerned.

Back in the office, attorney Chris drew close to Val and brushed a strand of her hair with a finger.

Val who was still in shock from all that had happened couldn't help but step back in fear and apprehension evident in her gaze when she felt the attorney's touch on her.

She couldn't let such a filthy person touch her, even if he had a leeway on her.

" Relax. I didn't want to do things this way but it's to come to this due to your stubbornness." Attorney Chris chuckled.

" Since when?" Val blurted out in question in a broken tone that could barely be considered deep. Her throat tinged and felt sore as she was about to break into tears, being overwhelmed by emotions.

" I guess it won't hurt that you know. Uhh... after the first trial. She reached out to me with an enticing offer and a threat." Attorney Chris looked up with his hands clasped behind him as he stated.

Val's eyes widened in shock again. So attorney Chris had been working for Courtney ever since then? Besides,

' What threat?'

Attorney Chris spoke in answer to her thought before she could ask

" At first I was really for Bob, believe me. But later I had no choice but to switch sides... You see, it turns out that she learned about my past blackmailing of female clients and likes. Haah!" He grinned as he said while letting out an exasperated sigh afterward.

Val's heart strung and she could only put a hand to her mouth that had dropped open and wouldn't close.

" Nonetheless, we're flying to Seattle as well tonight. But before then you'll be with me at my place. Hehe, If you don't mind?" Attorney Chris chuckled and peered a lascivious gaze at Val like a predator eyeing its prey.

Val swallowed and her reddened and moist eyes shook in a gleam, knowing she was in danger.
