Chapter 52: Chapter 52
The next day...
Bob stood in front of a club in a rumpled business suit. He'd removed a few buttons of his shirt, and loosened his slanted print checkered tie, making him seem like an alcoholic employee in search for where to get their heads off after a long day at work. He wore an unkempt brown wig that covered the upper part of his face and placed rough brown fake beards around his chin and mouth to match.
As he approached the club, Bob laid eyes on several men and women with their gazes focused on either their drinks or searching through the crowd that streamed into the club as they leaned on the walls, hanging around.
In disguise as Gary Shay, Bob didn't find it hard to last the two body guards at the entrance of the club. It wasn't his identity as Gary that got him in, rather his character. People dressed like him were potential contributors to a club's wealth and affluent source of income, so they are always welcome.
The place was quite a lively place with men and women being all interested in certain activities that shouldn't be seen by kids.
Soft rock music blasted in the room as the ladies danced and people calmly had fun with drinks in hands. The club was quite big since it was for common and uncommon visitors, so everyone else could get in here. However, Bob had a different place in mind.
The club flashed different hues of light in a disco amidst the darkness. Faces could barely be seen so it was easier to do a lot of things without giving a care as to who was looking and how one looked doing the act.
Bob shook his gaze away from all of this. He struggled through the crowd and eventually got to the bar counter.
A young man with tattoos all over his neck and left side of his face stood cleaning wine glasses with a serious expression on his face when he wasn't busy serving drinks.
" Want anything?" the bartender asked.
" Oh yeah, a shot of gin will be fine" Bob responded shortly. Bob took his acting serious and didn't request for a drink that'd cost too much, considering he gad other things in mind. He reached into his pocket to fish out some money in his wallet to pay for the drink.
" Hey umm... I'm looking for a little bit of adults and fun. Heard there's a strip club somewhere around here?" Bob already knew there was a strip club but it was too crowded for him to figure out anything. So he thought to ask the bartender.
The bartender who was pouring gin in a glass looked at Bob with contempt as if to ask "Really?". But then he seemed to realize he probably was new so he replied nodding towards the stairs right above the stairs, behind where the DJ was.
" Over there. Follow the rules." He warned as he passed Bob's glass across the bar counter.
" Thanks man" Bob nodded his head and quickly gulped down his drink. He seethed his teeth from kick of the gin at his throat. Bob shook his head vigorously to shake the feeling off before heading towards the stairs where two bodyguards stood behind an arc opening with a crystal beaded string curtain.
Bob feigned a bit of sway in his steps as he walked past the DJ who bopped and shook his hands in the air to rhythm of the music. He hoped there wasn't any need for verification to get in the strip club.
' They're just body guards right? nothing else.' The information he had prior gathered about the place had no mention of a need for verification either so he was quite confident.
" Stop." One of the bodyguards put a palm forward to Bob's chest to stop him.
" Gentlemen, I'm just here to have-"
" Spread your arms real quick man" the other bodyguard standing around 6'5 and massively built stepped forward to request.
Bob was cut off his words but he didn't complain. Realizing what was going on, he quickly raised his arm above his shoulders as if surrendering.
The other bodyguard who was less bulkier and seemingly of calmer temperament stepped forward and patted Bob's cloth up and down, conducting a quick body search.
" Good to go" The bodyguard informed after, both Bob and his colleague. They both stood aside for Bob to pass.
" Thanks" Bob greeted and waved his hands as he passed through the curtain into the dim pink illuminated room that had a disco flashing on the stage.
The stage platform being the center of attraction was round with three poles each before three segments of clubbers. Men sat in the plush seatings surrounding the platform in accordance to their choice of professional pole dancers, while there were other regular seats behind the plush seatings which were probably the VIP section.
Bob had been in places like this before earlier in his life when he was still a youngster, and it brought back a feeling of nostalgia that he so much detested. He and his deceased friend would mess around hiring strippers whom they eventually wouldn't have anything to do with, then they moved to hookers, until Bob decided to put a stop to his wayward ways and got too busy. The last time he was in a club, he met Courtney. And he'd ever since then lost interest in this kind of life.
Bob shook his head in pity, he could see his younger self in a young man gawking with a lusty gaze at one of the pole dancers.
There were a few men with one of the ladies in only their thongs dancing on their laps, and curling like a snake around them as they drank and chuckled in delight.
Bob squeezed his face and tried his best to never look towards the fat lady in front of the pole dance stage. He looked around the stage to find Mae and decided to proceed further into the club.
"Hey there mister! We have some amazing dancers tonight who would love to show you a good time that you're here for" A short petite blonde suddenly appeared in his view and informed with a provoking smile.
' She must be the waitress' Bob realized.
" Yeah, I want a VIP ticket and a private room. Is Mae here?" Bob leaned over to ask, looking around for the said person as well.
" She should be around today," the waitress said. "If you'd like to hold on while I quickly make a check. In the meantime, have a seat, and perhaps, consider other choices if you like"
" Alright," Bob pulled out his wallet and pulled out 500 bucks. He'd already received information and needed to act regularly as he could to prevent being suspected.
" For a bottle as well" Bob added.
" Very well, sir. what would you like?" The girl took the money with a sly smile, thinking Bob was a regular class worker who just cut the paycheck and was here to squander a fair amount. Not that she was complaining anyway...
" Cognac" Bob replied calmly.
" Alrighty. We'll have our bottle servers attend to you in a bit. If you would pick a seat of your choice in the VIP table section while I speak to Mae about the private room and have it arranged sir!" She spoke politely.
Bob nodded and watched as the waitress left to fulfill her duty.
He passed by a table where some young guys were ogling at the ladies dancing in the pole upfront. He wished he could tell them to stop dreaming about worthless things that would never even come true. These ladies are professionals and only here for money, nothing else goes down. But he was not in the best position to say this, they'd probably just ask him what he was still doing here then, looking like an addicted worker.
' However, they'll learn... I hope' Bob thought as he shook his head.
Soon he noticed a bronze-skinned lady at the other side of the pole-dancing stage and slowly went over to the side.
Fortunately, there was a free space on a VIP couch. Bob took a seat and peered a gaze at the platform.
Of course, the bronze-skinned lady glanced at him noticing a new customer. However, Bob didn't show any interest and she being a professional knew to not push it. He didn't seem like the type with enough to spend anyway.
The waitress came a few minutes later and bent to speak in his ears.
" Mae is waiting in the private room, if you'll please follow me in. We have everything prepared" She said.
Bob nodded and followed behind the blonde petite waitress to an open arch around the back of the stage where a single bouncer stood. The bouncer stepped aside and allowed them to pass seeing that the waitress led the way.
They entered a corridor with open-arc on each side of the walls only covered by curtains. The lights in the rooms were dim but one could still see the activities going on in there. Especially with the moans, grunts, and giggles that came from in there.
This was done to rile up the excitement in potential clients and improve business. Nothing more, nothing less.
" Here sir!" They soon arrived in front of a room and the waiter gestured that in there was Bob's private room.
" Thanks!" Bob nodded again and went through the net curtain inside the room.
Once he got inside, he sucked in a breath of sweet scent along with the sight of a tall slender woman with sensual curves and a tattoo of a purple butterfly on her cleaves. She lay in a seductive way on a rigid table in the middle of the room that had a pole connecting it to the ceiling.
The lady put a finger to her lips and stared at him seductively. Her face was just as flawless as Bob remembered but with a different shade of makeup.
Bob smiled. He looked behind him and seeing that they were now alone, Bob turned to face Mae and said.
" Hey Mae, remember me?"
...
Heath pulled on his black leather jacket and looked around as he approached the bodyguards standing in front of the door to the club. He frowned and walked in haste. His short but muscly build was noticable amidst the darkness of the street.
Getting to the club, he didn't speak to the bodyguards as he just walked into the club, obviously, he was of significant influence.
...
" Is that the same guy we're looking for?" In the dark street way, a little far across the club, Detective Taylor asked Inspector Roosen as he watched Heath Wolfe walk into the building. Noticing his brown hair that was combed back and his unmistakable facial features that looked like that of a hideous rat, the detective couldn't help but call to notice.
" Yeah, I suppose. We should wait until he's out again... We don't wanna spook the birdies" Inspector Roosens said as she watched Heath walk into the club as well. She suspected that the night club was only a distraction for something else going on underneath.
' A lot is going on in the city behind the police's knowledge for real'
" Have to be extremely careful. Those guys must be ready to gun I believe" Detective Taylor agreed with his partner.
