Khushi's P.O.V.

Hearing my question, Kaki got all silent and I said again with teary eyes, “Kaki, please tell me. I don't remember anything just about that day. Though I was 8 years old but it's not like I don't remember anything from that time. I still remember many things regarding Ammi before that day and every single thing after the day she died but not a single thing about that day.”

When I saw Kaki hesitating, I spoke up while sobbing and giving her a pleading look, “Kaki, please.”

“Khushi, your Ammi died in a road accident.” hearing kaki saying this, I uttered, “I know that Kaki. And you also know very well that I am not asking you that but”

Interrupting me, she spoke up, “It’s not your fault Khushi. Don't blame yourself.”

Hearing her, I hold her and asked her, “Just tell me what happened that day and what did I do, Kaki?

Kaki, please. Don't leave anything but tell me everything. I want to know everything. Why I get to have a severe headache whenever I try to remember something about that day? What is it?”

Hearing me saying that and giving her a pleading look like nothing more, she made me sit on the bed and started telling me about my childhood.

“Khushi, when your mother informed your father that she was pregnant with you, he was so happy so as Kowshik as he always wanted someone to play with.

But when the doctor said that there was complications with her pregnancy and her life would be in danger if she wouldn't abort her child.

Your father likewise wasn't allowing your mother for this but she didn't listen to him for the first time in their married life till then.

And for this, they kept arguing always which didn't go unnoticed by little Kowshik as they were never like this before.

Like this he got you in his bad terms even before you were born.

Though you were born healthy but your mother got very critical that time and it took her a long time to be normal and these made your father and brother like this.

Understanding this, your mother tried hard to make them accept you heartily only to get them more agitated. At some point she stopped trying and kept bringing you up with her utmost care only.

And that day your Ammi took you to the park as per your demand. Kowshik was asking her to stay home for some reason but she somehow managed him and took him with you but unfortunately she died on that day in a road accident.

According to Kowshik, she got into that accident while saving you and this got set on Kowshik's mind that it was you. Because of you that happened.

When you two were back home with the death body of your mother, you two were all silent and all of a sudden Kowshik pushed you harshly while uttering, “It's all because of you. I will never forgive you.

You fell on the floor and got hurt your head. You were senseless then for the rest of the day.

But when you wake up, I was beside you. Getting me all shocked, you asked me then, “Kaki, where is Ammi?”

Hearing your way of talking, I got that you didn't even remember about the accident.

Since that incident, you have started to have a severe headache whenever you pressurize your brain.”

When Kaki was saying all that, I was just staring at the photograph of Ammi with teary eyes and at last uttered, “Then Vai is right. He was always right when he said that I was at fault.”

Kaki got near me and spoke up, “No Khushi. It wasn't your fault. It was an accident. And you know anything can happen when it has to happen.”

Kaki kept trying for a while to make me understand that I didn't do anything wrong but nothing was getting through me.

Even after she left, I kept sitting there like that for a while. Being unable to handle all that, I took out the sleeping pills which was prescribed for me to take one in time of having headache and being unable to sleep.

I was about to take all the sleeping pills left in the container at a time but got stopped as my mind chided, “Suicide is a great sin, Khushi and it's not the solution.”

I kept staring at the pills for a while and then kept them back in the container while sobbing only to get two pills again. Taking the pills, I got on the bed to remain asleep for a while.

When I woke up, it was already the morning of the next day. Getting freshen up, I was about to go the balcony but got stopped hearing some noises.

Getting curious, I got out of my room and found the hall room was being decorated and I immediately remembered that the next day is supposed to be my engagement with Arhaan.

Getting back to my room, I kept sitting silently for a moment. Then I called Arhaan. It kept ringing for a while and then he received the call but before I could say something, he spoke up, “I am busy, Khushi. I will call you later.” and cut off the line.

I wasn't sure why Arhaan was behaving like that. It was like all these were happening normally. I was trying to talk to him from yesterday but didn't get to do it.

I was being confused whether he purposefully ignored me. I wasn't sure what he was thinking.

Knowing all that from Kaki, I was sure of this much that I am not willing to leave the country anymore but to stay with my family.

When I heard the voice of vai, I got out of my room and went towards downstairs only to get totally ignored by him.

While thinking whatever I had done to them, I was already worthy of getting the treatment, I have been getting all along from them, I got back to my room.

Now I don't want to escape from it but I also don't want to do this to Arhaan but he isn't ready to listen to me now.

I kept thinking all day what to do while waiting for Arhaan's call but when he didn't, I myself called him in the afternoon only to find it switched off.

Before getting to sleep, I again called him for several times. Though it kept ringing for a while, he didn't answer it. I sent a text to him and lied on bed while staring at the phone in expectation of his call.

I didn't get to know when I fell asleep while waiting for his call.

I woke up at fazar time and immediately checked my phone in case Arhaan answered my text or called me back but to my disappointment, there was none.

Making ablution, I said my prayer and then got to the balcony with my phone. I was thinking should I call him now.

What if I disturbed his sleep!

But he should be up for prayer this time. Thinking this, I called him but he didn't answer it but cut off the line.

I kept sitting there for a while until kaki came to call me. I got downstairs only to find Vai and Abbu on the dinning table. I got surprised like seriously they were waiting for me to join them in breakfast.

I kept taking my breakfast while trying to control my tears. They kept silent for the whole time and when we were done, they started again with the left of preparation for the engagement.

Seeing that, I was getting utterly confused about what should I do with all this. Going back to my room, I called Arhaan only to get again disappointed.

Taking a deep breath, I decided to leave all these on my fate and I wasn't worried for I wasn't expecting something good happen to me anymore.

When it was almost evening, a girl entered room after knocking. When I gave her a confused look, she said, “Ma'am, I am Jiya. I am sent here to help you getting ready.”

Before I could say anything, my phone started ringing. Seeing the caller ID, I answered the phone and Esha spoke up, “Aunty?”

Hearing her sweet voice, a small smile crept on my lips as I uttered, “Yes, dear.”

She asked me cutely, “What are you doing? Are you ready?”

When I answered, “No dear.”She spoke up being all excited, “Get ready first, aunty. I am all ready to go to your house. But Mummy isn't ready yet. We will leave as soon as she is done. Okay?”

With a smile, I uttered, “Okay.” and she spoke up again, “Okay. Get ready then. Bye bye.”

I really liked Esha very much from the very first day I met her.

My thought got broke as the girl spoke up, “Ma'am?”

Giving a nod to her, I got changed into the dress which Esha selected for me and sat in front of the dressing table.

When she was done with my makeup and left my room, I got the photograph of Ammi and kept staring at it with teary eyes.

Hearing a knock at the door, I wiped my eyes and uttered, “Come in.”

Esha entered my room smilingly and uttered, “Aunty.”

Api also entered following her. Esha got near me and uttered, “Aunty, you are looking beautiful.”

Api smilingly uttered then while caressing my face, “Mash_Allah, you really look beautiful, dear.”

After sometime Api took me out and made me stand in front of Arhaan. I couldn't get to look at his face immediately.

But before I put the ring on his finger, I looked up at him only to find him smiling a little which made me utterly confused of the meaning of that smile of him.....
