Chapter 17: Chapter 17
Author Pov.
Stepping out of the car parked at the front of the building, she raised her head and looked at the sign placed at the top of the building.
"Tomaso Enterprise." She read out loud before putting on her sunglasses and making her way into the building, swaying her hips seductively and elegantly.
Reaching the front desk, she placed her bag on it before taking her glasses off.
"I would like to speak to Mr. Alfonso Tommaso; it's urgent." She said it, smiling politely.
"Do you have an appointment?" The man snapped, looking at her arrogantly.
Raising her eyes at the little girl in front of her, she really wanted to give her her mind but decided against it, knowing what was at stake at the moment.
It took her a whole day to get Matteo off her back. The old lad had people follow her in case she tried to do anything funny.
Honestly, she didn't think he was a fool; she agreed way too easily, so of course he had his little doubts.
"No, I don't, but as I said, it's urgent." She said it, the smile still plastered on her lips.
"Well, of course, ma, every meeting is always urgent, as we don't waste our time here, but I still can't let you in without an appointment." The lady said she was clicking her tongue and rolling her lips.
Wow! Just wow. SheForght, for acare, tomer care this company sure as it bad.
"Look, miss." She said, pointing at her, that she really had enough of the young lady's sh*t; her goddaughter was being held captive and some bitch was standing in the way of her saving her, and just that thought angered her.
"No, you look miss; we don't play here, so please take your ugly-looking ass out of here. Besides, Mr. Alfonso isn't even into old ladies." The young lady said she was looking at her with disgust in her eyes.
"He's more into young, fresh blood like me, so I advise you to leave now before I get the security miss." The lady shouted the last part, getting a little bit of attention from them.
Moving her bag aside, the woman bent down a little to match the height of the bimbo standing behind the desk.
"Look here, Miss Aurora." She read the name tag placed on the desk before looking back up at the lady.
I am not here for you; I have important business with Mr. Alfonso, so kindly tell him someone downstairs is looking for him, and it's about the whereabouts of Miss Rose." She glared at her.
"Please take your leave. "Please take your leave, ma'am." The bimbo insisted on crossing her arms.
"Didn't you just hear me? I swear if anything happens to that woman, I am coming back here with the police to get it, and I am sure your boss will wholeheartedly support me, as he would not also like to know you stopped such important information from getting to him." The woman screamed at her.
She was really getting frustrated with this young woman. Why can't she understand that a lot is at stake here?
Glaring at her, the lady picked up the phone and made a call before slamming it back down on its holder.
"You can go in on the first floor." She said
Picking up her bag, she put on her eyeglasses before leaving the elevator.
"Wait mam." The young lady called, making her turn her head to the side a little.
"Don't you ever try threatening me again. I would just let you off today because I can see that you are clearly depressed." She said it arrogantly.
Scoffing, the woman shook her head before making her way to the elevator.
Getting off the elevator, she went straight to the door at the other end of the hallway.
Seeing another desk placed beside the door, she rolled her eyes.
Not again, she thought. How many more rude receptionists does she have to encounter just to see a man?
She marched towards the desk, a serious expression masked on her face. She cleared her throat to get the attention of the lady behind the desk.
"Good afternoon, mam. How may I help you?" The lady smiled.
The woman quickly covered up her surprised expression and smiled back.
"A call came from downstairs. I am the lady who is here to see Mr. Alfonso." She said.
Alright, ma'am, please give me a moment." The lady said this before pressing the button on the device beside her, informing him she was around.
"Good afternoon." She greeted him, nodding her head a little towards him.
"Afternoon, please have your seat." He said this, pointing at the seats at the front of his desk.
"I came here for a really important business, Mr. Alfonso, and we don't have much time on our hands." She said she took her seat immediately.
Alfonso's brows furrow together in confusion. He doesn't even know who this lady is; all he knew was that a call came in and that someone was looking for him.
"Who are you?" He placed his hands on the desk.
"You can call me Miss Anna. I am Rose's godmother." She offered her hand for a handshake, which he took.
"And how may I help you?" He asked again, looking at the woman suspiciously. Rose never told him about any godmothers; if anything, she said she had no one left for her. So it was weird to see a so-called godmother all of a sudden.
And why was she here only now that Rose has disappeared?
A lot of questions were roaming about his mind, but he needed to settle down if he wanted to get to the bottom of whatever was going on here.
"Rico is missing." Picasso said he was barging into his office.
"What!" Alfonso exclaimed, getting up from his seat.
"He was last seen at the mall; I'm going over to check it out." He said
"Wait, are you sure he's missing? He could have gone somewhere or something." Alfonso said, picking up his suit jacket and walking around the table, ready to follow his friend, forgetting about the guest that was still in the room.
She crossed her leg and placed her hand under her chin, looking at both of them.
"I'm not sure if he's the one, but I don't think you can find him easily if he is." She said she got both their attention.
"Who are you?" Picasso asked, glaring at her.
"Rose godmother." Alfonso answered, waving dismissively.
"And how does she know who we are talking about?" He asked, looking at her, before turning his gaze to his friend beside him.
"Because a guy was kidnapped with Rose at the mall two days ago." She answered the question the two friends were curious about.
Picasso's eyes widen immediately after the words leave her mind.
"And Rose is about to get killed, while the other guy is going to be sold off." She continued, standing up.
Picasso rushed to her side.
"Where is he, and how do you know this?" He asked.
"We don't have time for this, okay? We need to come up with a plan before it's too late." She said she was looking at them with a serious expression on her face to show them how serious the matter on the ground was.
"How do we know we can trust you?" Alfonso asked, also walking towards her.
"First, it's not like you have a choice, honestly." She said this, folding her arms across her chest and raising an eyebrow.
"And second, Rose sent me to you because she trusts you, apparently." She said.
"We don't have enough time; Mr. Matteo is going to get the papers ready anytime soon, and he's going to make me sign them, even if I don't want to." She looked at them with a horrified expression.
"Who's Mr. Matteo?" Both the guys asked.
"Rose, greedy uncle. He wants me to sign some papers for him, as I am the only close guardian Rose has left for now. " She said.
"Did you see Rose? Is she alright?" Alfonso asked.
"Yes, and is Rico also alright?" Picasso asked.
She looked at both of them before taking a deep breath.
"They are both okay for now, but as I said before, we don't have much time, so let's act now while he still trusts me." She said she was getting frustrated at both of them already.
They were supposed to be planning how to save her goddaughter by now, not going over the same thing over and over again.
"Alright, what do we need to know about this Mr. Matteo of a guy?" Alfonso asked, going back to his seat.
"He's his father's friend; I don't really know why they separated, but he called me recently, saying he had a deal for her." She said.
"What deal?" Picasso asked, taking his seat beside her.
"He wants Rose to sign some documents that say he gets to look over her property in case anything happens in the future."
"But that future is soon, as he plans on killing her immediately she signs those documents."
"We need to get Rose out quick; he's already gathering the documents." She said fear was evident in her voice, proving she wasn't lying.
Alfonso's mind raced at a million degrees per second, looking for a solution.
He looked at his friend to see that he was also deep in thought.
I guess everybody was thinking of a way to save their own.
