Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Author's Pov
She laid her head against the moving vehicle, both hands and legs bound together by a chain.
She took a deep breath before puffing it out. Just when she thought it was over, they just had to get caught because of her stupid ass.
She tried to turn around a bit, looking at the unconscious man placed carelessly on the other side of the van. She felt remorseful; if she had listened to him, they both would have been back at home already.
She laid her head back on the van, willing herself not to let tears flow down her cheeks. She really doesn't like showing her weakness to her enemies.
The van suddenly stopped, and the back door was opening, not bothering you to turn around to look at them, as she already knew that whatever was waiting for her behind was definitely nothing good.
She was grabbed and dragged out of the van before she was placed on a shoulder carelessly, like she was some potato sack bag.
She was placed in a very dark room, which contained a single chair and a small window at the far end of the room.
Hearing the door slam close, she laid her body on the floor and finally let the tears fall freely down her cheeks.
Was this how it was going to end?
She never really got to enjoy the fun of youth. She was always locked up in her father's office, trying her best to understand the business even at such an early age.
Her father wanted the best out of her. He wanted to prepare her for this world, which was filled with criticism and inequality.
He always praised her; he told her she was capable of anything, no matter the circumstances.
She really misses him and wishes he was here right now to comfort her and tell her everything was going to be okay.
She also misses Alfonso; she misses the small fights and arguments they always had.
She really hopes she gets to see him again before she dies, to tell him how grateful she is to him for saving her life and letting a mere stranger like her into his villa.
She had a lot of people she needed to thank and a lot of things she needed to do.
She stared at the door blankly as those thoughts clouded her mind.
Wow! She thought, Is this how it was?
Was this how it felt to know your ending? She couldn't help but ask herself.
She always thought that her end would be great and that she would have accomplished everything she needed to.
She thought her end was with that bastard who betrayed her. She always imagined the both of them growing old together and watching their great-grandkids play on a beach while they held their hands and looked at each other lovingly.
Fantasy is really a bitch. She thought as she chuckled bitterly.
Ahhh! She exclaimed.
Enough of this pity party already; she was feeling tired. She thought, bringing her knees to her chest and hugging them before falling asleep.
Back in the other room, he woke up groaning a little, placing his hands on his head and rubbing it slightly.
Wow, they really knocked him out.
Was that really necessary?
They could have just pointed a gun at him and asked him to move nicely. He thought, rolling his eyes, before scanning the dark room he was in.
"Wow, how cheap! I can't even place a bulb or candle in the room." He said it again, rolling his eyes.
Struggling a bit, he sat down and stretched his sore muscles a little bit.
His stomach grumped, making him groan out loud. Using the light that came from the little window on the other side of the room, he looked around to see if food was left anywhere for him.
"Talk about stingy," he thought.
Looking down at his bound hands, he struggled a little, trying to free himself.
Deciding it was no use as he couldn't see anything, he laid back down on the floor to get some rest and continue tomorrow.
"Are you sure it's her?" A familiar voice asked
"I thought she was dead."
"Well, apparently she isn't; that's why you are here." Uncle Matteo said.
She sat up as she heard a familiar voice conversing with her uncle. Looking around the now bright room, she realized it wasn't a dream and that it was already morning.
The door to the room opened, and Mr. Matteo stepped in, followed by a lady behind him. Her eyes widen as she sees who is standing behind Matteo.
She shook her head, chuckling bitterly.
What a life, really. She thought as she kept her gaze trained on the new guest.
"So? " Uncle Matteo snapped at the lady, who kept staring at her on the floor.
"Do we have a deal or not?" He asked.
"We do, but I would like to speak to her. There's something I would like to clear up with the bitch before she dies." The woman said this, handing her bag to one of the guards before making her way to the only chair in the room.
"Fine, make it snappy; I will be waiting outside for us to sign the deal." He said this, turning his back to leave the room.
Holding the door open, he turned around, looking at the ladies in the room, then bringing out a gun from behind him and pointing it at them.
"Try anything funny, and I swear, I will gun both of you down. Don't think I can't, because it makes my job easier." He threw a glare at them before leaving the two of them alone.
Rose turned to look at the woman, who took her seat on the chair, crossing her legs and folding her arms around her chest.
"Well, well, well, I can't help but wonder how you got yourself into this mess." She said mockery laced her voice.
"But of course that's not my problem; I'm waiting for a day when karma will get you back for what your father did to me." She said this, slamming her fist on the arm of the chair.
Rose looked at the woman in front of her with confusion written all over her face. She doesn't understand; her father treated this woman in front of her like his sister; he provided everything she needed, so what exactly is she talking about?
"My father has been everything and nice to you; he treated you like his goddamn sister, woman." She shouted in disgust, not minding the hoarseness in her throat.
She hasn't said anything since she was captured yesterday, making her throat a little bit hoarse. She was also tired from all the crying she had done beforehand, forcing herself to sleep.
But however much the woman in front of her disgusts her, she doesn't care for all that.
" Exactly! " The woman yelled, getting up.
"Your father treated me like a sister, like I was some little unattractive girl, even though I had been by his side from the very beginning." The woman continued pointing at her in anger.
"You've got to be kidding me right now," Rose thought, letting out a dark chuckle before glaring at the lady.
"If you couldn't handle that fact, you could have left." She said it with venom in her voice.
"You don't know what it means to love a little girl, but it's alright because now he's gone and I get to see his little girl die in front of my eyes, helplessly." She said, chuckling a bit before closing her mouth and whispering a whoops.
"I'm sorry, I chuckled. I wasn't supposed to show you I'm having a great time, considering the position you are in right now. How shamelessly of me." She said it in mockery, batting her eyeslashes at me before winking.
"You are really disgusting; you know that, right?" She asked her.
Well, if she was about to die, she might as well pour her heart out to her betrayers.
Honestly, her last few days on this earth taught her a lot. The people close to you are the ones who can easily betray you.
They can hurt you so much and destroy you, leaving you with nothing but a broken mindset and a depressed feeling.
But it's okay; lesson learned. It might be too late, but at least she gets to see the cocrodice in her life.
She raised her head as she heard the clicking sound of heels against the floor.
The woman approached her. Standing in front of her, she bent a little and whispered into her ears.
"Do you have anyone that can save you here? I can make a call or two, but I don't have strong allies here to help." She said before standing back up, looking at her, nodding her head in confirmation, that she was in fact still with her.
