Chapter 9: Chapter 9
"Sit down, honey, there's no need to panic," Dad said. "We have a business meeting and he just requested your presence for today."
"Dad! Are you insane? What do you think of me? I won't come with you." I said and turned around.
"Cami! Whether you like it or not, you are coming with me. Now, don't make this harder than it is already. You don't want to be dragged just to get in the car, right?" He said. "Act as I say, will you?"
"Dad! Please don't do this. I am not comfortable with all this!" I said. "Dad! He's way older than I am. Please don't do this to me."
"Don't be so difficult now, will you? You'll just sit there and nothing else." He said. "Eat now, I'll wait for you in the car."
"I don't wanna eat. I think I lost my appetite." I said. "Let's just go and get this over with."
'Good girl," He said as he stood up and went outside. "Come on."
"Actually, can you go ahead? I forgot something in my room and I'll just get it. I'll be there in five." I said.
"Alright," He said. "Be fast."
I nodded and went hurriedly towards my room. I need to get my spare phone. I'm not yet sure on how or to whom I will use it but I know I'm gonna need it. I put it inside my bag and went out of my room.
"Come on," Dad said when he saw me approaching his car. "We don't want to be late on our appointment."
"Alright," I said.
I hurriedly entered his car and sat next to him. I know that nothing good will come out of this so I must be ready for whatever may happen in this meeting.
We reached our company's building in no time and Dad was looking so excited and enthusiastic about all of these. He helped me got out of the car and guided me towards the elevator. We were greeted by our employees and I was the only one who responded to them. Now I can see what kind of a boss my dad is. I pity his employees.
Dad opened the door to his office after his secretary gave him his schedule for today. He sat at his swivel chair and motioned for me to take the couch.
"Make yourself comfortable," He said. "Do you want anything? You didn't eat breakfast so you might be starving by now."
"No, I'm fine," I said. "I just want to get this done."
"Alright," He said. "He'll be here any minute now. I'm sure he's very excited to see you and so he won't be late for today"
"Yeah, right," I said as I threw myself on the couch. "He better."
Just as I said those words, Dad's secretary spoke on the intercom.
"Sir, Mr. Yakumo is here, shall I send him in?" She said.
"Yes please," Dad said.
I rolled my eyes at this whole situation. The door opened and I saw Mr. Yakumo entered the room. He was all smiles as he was scanning the place. His eyes darted to me and his smile became bigger and bigger that it is starting to get creepy. He then turned to my father and nodded.
"Good morning, Mr. Yakumo," Dad said. "It's a pleasure having you here."
"No, the pleasure is all mine Martin," He said. "Camierre, you look as stunning as ever. It's good to see you here."
He came near me, took my hand, and kissed it. This man is disgusting. I've met him a couple of times already during parties but I never thought he had this interest in me.
"I hope I could say the same thing to you," I said. "But I can't."
"Camierre!" Dad said. "Please."
"I'm sorry," I said with sarcasm as evident as the annoyance in my face.
"Well, it's alright," Mr. Yakumo said. "You'll get used to me soon."
And this man even had the guts to wink at me. What an ass!
"I am looking forward to that," I said. If I want to escape this situation, I need to act as if I am really into this. I need them to trust me that I am on their side on this.
"Good girl," Mr. Yakumo said. "I promise you, you'll never regret marrying me."
"I am delighted," I said. "I actually can't wait."
"Well, I'm happy to tell you that you won't have to wait for too long. Your father and I agreed to do the wedding in two weeks." He said.
"What?! Two weeks?" I said in disbelief. "Wow, that's too soon."
"I know," He said. "But why would we delay it, right?"
This asshole! I turned to look at my father and he said nothing. I guess he did sell me off already. I cannot believe him!
"Is that enough of a time for all the preparation?" I said trying to calm myself. They cannot know that I am looking for a way to get out of this wedding.
"Don't worry about the preparation," Mr.Yakumo said. "My secretary will take care of it all. All you have to do is to be there when they call you, especially for the fitting of the gown."
"Wow, you got everything figured out already," I said. "That's good. I am busy with work too so I wouldn't have time for all the preparation."
"Yeah, I know, that's why I took everything in my hand so you won't have to worry about anything.
You're wrong! I am worried about everything.
"That's good," I said.
Mr. Yakumo nodded and then turned to my dad.
"Anyway, shall we go down to business?"
"We should," Dad said.
"Do you still need me in here?" I said impatiently. I can't stand being in the same room as them any longer.
"Well, that's for Mr. Yakumo to decide," Dad said. "Do you have any plans for the both of you today?"
"No, nothing for today but tomorrow, we'll go out for dinner, if that's fine with you?" Mr. Yakumo told me.
"Of course," I said." Just send me the details. Can I go now?"
"Sure, I'll have the driver bring you home." Dad said. Oh, yeah, I forgot I am grounded. I stood up and went to the door. I was opening it when Mr. Yakumo called me. He stood up and went near me and then kissed me on my cheeks. What the hell! He then smiled and walked back to his chair. Disgusting!
I went out of Dad's office and headed straight to the parking lot. I was greeted by Dad's driver together with what I know are my bodyguards. They brought me straight to Dad's car and drove me home and that is a good thing. I felt so dirty and I needed to get a shower to get rid of that old man's touch. I cannot believe Dad can stomach all of these. He was there when that asshole kissed me and he just watched. Is money that important to him? Now, I am wondering what it would've been if Mom was still here. I am sure she won't agree to all of this and I could finally have someone to defend me from Dad.
I cannot go back to the house and be on house arrest while they are preparing for my wedding. I need to escape and there's only one way I know how.
"Can you please stop at the next convenience store? I really need to pee." I said.
"Ma'am, you are not allowed to go anywhere else other than your house." My bodyguard said.
"Did you hear me? Or do you want me to call my dad and tell him that you're depriving me of my comfort and get you fired? You choose." I said. I hope this works for them.
"Alright ma'am," He said. "But be quick and we'll accompany you inside."
"Are you insane? There's no need for that. Just wait for me outside. I'll be fine. It'll just be for a few minutes." I said.
"Alright," He said. "Just be quick."
Gotcha! I took my bag and jumped out of the car.
I hurriedly went inside but I did not enter the restroom. I went out from the back door and hailed a cab. I am sure my father would look for me so I need to be safe and I can only think of one person to call.
I took out my phone and Wade's calling card. It's now or never. I waited for him to pick up his phone.
"Hello?" I heard him said on the other line.
It's him! Oh my God! Am I ready to do this?
