Chapter 62: Chapter 62
"Hey, guys!" Drake called out everyone's attention when we came near the group. Now I could clearly see what they were up to in here. They have set up a barbecue station on the side together with all the alcoholic drinks and other foods that were served. There were many candles on the sand which were the only things that provided light around aside from the LED lights on the coconut trees not far from us. I saw almost all the models here as well as some members of the organizer's team. I can also see that we weren't the only ones who were having a beach party since I could see from the other resorts beside us that people were dancing to the loud music too.
The music stopped and everyone turned to Drake and me. "Miss Camierre here wants to join the party, what do you say if we give her our welcome drink?" Drake said loud enough for everyone to hear. Everyone's attention was on me and that made me a bit uncomfortable but I never thought that they would welcome me warmly. Everybody clapped their hands and yelled my name. It was like they were cheering for me while someone handed Drake a glass with a blue liquid on it. Drake handed it over to me and motioned for me to drink it. Everyone shouted my name again and they were all cheering for me.
"What is this?" I asked Drake.
"That's our welcome drink for you," He said. "Come on; drink it. That's just some drinks that the bartender made earlier. People are waiting. Go!"
"Alright," I said as I looked around and saw them encouraging me to empty the glass. I closed my eyes and starting drinking from it. I almost spit it out due to its bitter taste but I didn't want them to think of me as a weak person so I endured it and drank all of it. Everyone cheered and screamed my name once again as if they were welcoming me. It was so bitter but it actually tastes good at the same time. The Dj put the music back on and everyone went back to whatever they were doing earlier as if nothing happened.
"That's my girl!" Drake said.
"Oh no, I'm not your girl," I said.
"Come on; what do you want to do?" He said. "Do you want to dance?"
I scoffed. "Dance? Really?" I said.
"Why? Don't tell me you don't know how to dance at a party?" He said.
"Me?" I said and laughed. "Of course I do! I am just not up for it yet. I need more drinks!"
"That's not a problem." He said. We were talking while our faces were closed to each other since the music was a bit loud. "I'll just get us some; I'll be back in a few."
I nodded and moved in the rhythm of the music. It was so lively in here that I feel like I could get drunk and forget about my problems for a while. It was a good thing that I didn't wear a dress today since it would give me a hard time dancing.
Drake came back a few seconds after with two glasses with him and handed me one. "What is this?" I said.
"Do you really have to ask me that every time I give you a drink?" He said and laughed. "I'm not going to do something bad, you know."
"I was just asking; I didn't say anything about you doing anything. Don't be so guilty!" I said and laughed too. I figured out that Drake could be a great company but only and only if he stops hitting on me. "Cheers!" I said and banged my glass with his. I drank all of it in one go and Drake looked surprised.
"What?" I said.
"Didn't know you drink like that?" He said.
"Oh, you don't know a thing about me," I said.
"It must be that heavy huh?" He said. I creased my forehead. What is he saying? "Won't your husband be mad that you're here with me and this group of people instead of being with him?" He asked. We were just standing there and looking at everyone having the best time of their lives.
"Nah, he's busy anyway," I said as I walked towards the table where the drinks were placed.
"Hey, where are you going?" Drake said behind me.
"To get some drinks," I said. "Aren't we here for that?"
"Are you planning on getting yourself drunk?" He said. "We're here to party, have fun, and not just get wasted just like what you're doing."
"I want to drink some more, okay?" I said as I took whatever was on the table. I took two shots of what I think was tequila. Oh dear, it's good to be this free.
"Now tell me you and your husband didn't fight," He said as he shook his head.
I took another glass of red liquor and drink all of it. It tasted good. I think whatever drinks they put in here are all expensive.
"No, we didn't, I told you already," I said. "My husband and I didn't fight."
"Then why are you like that?" He said. "Why are you getting yourself drunk?"
"I'm not!" I said as I took again another shot. "I just want to have fun, as you said. "
"Can you stop drinking already?" He said as he took the glass from me.
"Why? You were the one who told me to have fun and not mope around, remember? Why are you acting like that?" I said as I took another glass. "I just need this tonight, okay? Don't stop me because you won't be able to."
Drake sighed and shook his head. I laughed at his reaction and pulled him onto the dance floor. I wanted to dance.
"Are you drunk already?" He said as if he was examining me. Drunk? Me? Is he kidding me? I only had a few shots and those definitely won't make me drunk.
"No, I'm not," I said as we were in the center of the dancing crowd. I put my hands up in the air and swayed with the music. "It would take more than that for me to get drunk, you know."
I already had a few drinks but I was still sober though I felt a little bit dizzy it's nothing I can't manage. Tonight, I will let everything out. I can't keep these emotions to myself and partying and getting drunk might be able to help; just for tonight, just one night. I just want to forget about the heartaches and the disappointments that I am feeling right now. I want to forget about the pain just for tonight.
