Chapter 61: Chapter 61
"A Bad guy with trust issues, will love you more." [Remo]
[Rohan]
The day was finally here. Today was the massive annual function day. And I was looking forward to dancing with Jacqueline. After those gruesome practice sessions where she practically pressed my ankle with her weight millions of times before learning the right step. I was her counselor for days and I should not have been thinking about her; there should be rules against that kind of thought. I believe. But I still did. She was stripping in my dreams and gyrating to a dirty song, eliciting emotions even more than I have.
Our families would be attending the function, not that mine would be coming but many students were excited for the same reason. The Celebrations were bound to be grand considering the stage was well equipped and beautifully decorated. The planning of the annual day was done with the school faculty model to ensure that all the aspects were to be done with effectiveness.
The stage was fully included audio devices well equipped with music mix function and lighting equipment to create an effective atmosphere.
There was a little technical issue that the teacher was sorting out. But what struck me the most was her, it was illegal how she looked after getting ready.
She seemed happy the days following her. She didn't show me any attitude on that blood outburst days ago. And I didn't ask her if she felt hurt about it or not. I had seen Tina staying away from us at every chance she got. Despite knowing we were not directly involved in hurting her. But it was good. Good for Jacqueline.
"So? What are you aiming for?" The guy beside me asked as he placed his arm around my neck. His name was Abhinav, and for a few days, he had been helping me through the homework and anything that I needed help with. He was one of the members of the faculty responsible for carrying out the responsibilities.
"Her Heart," I said as I walked swiftly through the racks towards the hairstylist.
"Seriously? You like her bro?"
I wanted to tell him that I don't even know the answer to that because I did not know. My response earlier was subconscious or something I said in a joking manner.
"No."
"Dude, your eyes haven't left her for a second. And you are saying you don't like her?" He asked as he squeezed my shoulder. I threw him a bored glance to which he shrugged.
"Dude. Look no offense. I mean she does look beautiful in black, but you are staring at her like a guy who is practically telling everyone to stay away from her. At least 10 meters away."
I wanted to tell him she would look beautiful in anything she wore because it wasn't the clothes or the makeup or her hairstyle which made her look attractive, it was her heart, it was who she was, cute and lovable. Lately, she has been making some dishes for us, Me and Nina. Even telling me indirectly how my father could eat those because they were of minimum oil content. Maybe that's what I have started to like about her, it struck me how understanding she was of the problems of her friends, how my problems affected her in a way that she put effort into doing something for someone who was in no way she would call a friend any day. Perhaps That's what a good person does.
"Calm down boy, your girlfriend will get a hole by your concentrated glare." The hairstylist said as he laughed at his own words.
'Stupid man.'
"Ummm...She is not his girlfriend. Sir." Abhinav responded in my place. Since I was too tired of always being put in the spot of every other guy.
"Hush. Don't lie. I have eyes and I am not going to report you guys. So just chill. And one more thing I cherish is School Romances.".
"It's not like that. You got it all wrong sir..." I attempted to clear the misunderstanding but he stopped me from saying anything at all.
After my hairstyling, he moved to the next kid, giving me encouraging smiles. Like I needed it.
Stupid Teachers.
"Tada. How do I look?" Nina said as she emerged in her black a-line dress? She twirled for extra effect and Abhinav and I laughed at her behavior.
"You look beautiful Nina," Abhinav said and waited for her to realize, and the second she did. She just stared at him and I could feel her eyes burning holes in him.
She liked him. Shit! I just realized this now!
Composing herself she finally spoke, "Thank you. Do you say this to every girl you find?"
It was one of her escape routes and he took it not realizing what was happening.
"It's all in my genes to appreciate beautiful things." He said with a fake accent as he reached for her hand. He kissed her knuckles and I watched as she went deep red from ears to cheeks.
"Oh, Yeah I am coming Jackie."
Yeah, Right. Like we were deaf. Jacqueline was unmindful of how her friend just used her name to get out of a situation she might have ended up falling deep into.
Abhinav was pretty dense to not understand what she was doing.
"I didn't hear Jackie's voice calling her, how could she hear it? Did you hear her?"
"Yes, Of Course, I did."
"Oh, I must be zoning out to not hear her."
I nodded.
"Yeah. That might be the case."
His phone beeped, "Sorry, I need to go, I still have some last-minute arrangements to do. Dude being perfect is so hard." He said as he left in a hurry.
"Hey, how is your father now?" Jacqueline said as she made an appearance from behind me with her super sensitive understanding and empathy.
