Chapter 95: Chapter 95
Mia was scared and panting as she followed her mother into the enchanted forest in search of the sorcerer.
Stella knew exactly what she was looking for, but Mia was confused as there wasn't any building that would give them hope the sorcerer indeed lived here or was still alive.
"I have found it," Stella announced as she approached two trees standing big and tall opposite each other like a gate, but you could easily see the forest just continued after it.
"What is it that you found, Mom? There's nothing here except trees and bushes. How exactly are you sure we're in the right place, Mom? We're taking time; Alex is in danger; the demon is stronger and will kill him," Mia complained, almost in tears.
"Mia, I know exactly what I'm talking about; these trees are the gate to the place where the sorcerer resides. Mia, we're on track," Stella explained to Mia, trying to cheer her up.
"But, Mom, nothing is there after the trees, not even an abandoned house," Mia pointed out to Stella.
"Just wait, stand close to me," Stella instructed.
She began to murmur some words Mia couldn't understand, and immediately, they were teleported into another strange-looking place.
The sorcerer appeared behind Mia, her heart pounded in her chest as she stood before the sorcerer, his eyes glowing with ancient wisdom. She knew that her decision would have far-reaching consequences, but the thought of losing Alex, the love of her life, was unbearable. If there was even a sliver of hope that giving up her powers could save him, she was willing to make that sacrifice.
The sorcerer, a tall and enigmatic figure draped in robes adorned with intricate symbols, regarded Mia with a mix of sympathy and solemnity. His voice resonated with power as he spoke, filling the room with a mystical aura.
"Mia," he began, his words hanging heavy in the air.
Mia nodded, her eyes brimming with tears. "Can you save him? Can you bring him back?"
The sorcerer, his eyes filled with wisdom and compassion, sensed Mia's inner turmoil. He spoke in a voice that carried both power and gentleness, "To save Alex, you must be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Your powers have connected you to the magical realm, but they have also tethered you to its dangers. There is no other way."
Mia's hands trembled at the weight of his words. Her mind reeled with the enormity of the decision before her. Her powers were an integral part of who she was, and she was just getting to know about it, without knowing what she carried within, but it had always been her source of strength and protection. To relinquish them meant stepping into the unknown, a world stripped of the familiar, where she would be vulnerable and defenseless.
But then, she thought of Alex. The image of him, lost and corrupted, flashed before her eyes. She couldn't bear to see him like that, to imagine him perpetuating acts of darkness and destruction. The tears that had welled in her eyes spilled over, tracing a path down her cheeks.
Yet, the vision of Alex haunted her mind. She had seen him, through the sorcerer's spell, committing unspeakable acts against innocent people. Men in black cloaks surrounded him, constructing an altar and a throne. It was a darkness she couldn't fathom, a twisted reality that threatened to consume everything she held dear.
Mia took a deep breath, her gaze steady as she met the sorcerer's eyes. "I am ready," she said, her voice resolute. "If sacrificing my powers is the only way to save Alex, then I will do whatever it takes."
The sorcerer nodded, his expression tinged with admiration. "Very well, Mia. Your determination and selflessness are commendable. Your courage will be your greatest strengths. But know this—the path you tread will be fraught with challenges and sacrifices beyond measure. Are you truly prepared for the consequences of your decision?"
Mia hesitated for a moment, uncertainty flickering in her eyes. She thought of the battles she had fought, the lives she had touched, and the person she had become. But the image of Alex, consumed by darkness, shattered her doubts.
"I am," she answered firmly, her voice laced with determination. "I will face whatever comes, for Alex and for the greater good."
The sorcerer extended his hand, and Mia placed hers within his. Their palms met, and a surge of energy passed between them. "Prepare yourself, for the process will not be easy."
Mia took a deep breath, steadying herself for what lay ahead. The sorcerer raised his hands and asked Mia to repeat after him everything incantation he'll be saying.
Together they began to weave a spell, a complex incantation that resonated through the chamber.
Mia felt her powers receding, flowing out of her like a river returning to its source. It was a bittersweet sensation, a farewell to a part of herself that she would forever cherish.
As the powers enveloped Mia, she felt a surge of power rushing.
