Chapter 93: Chapter 93

Exhausted and emotionally drained, Mia left the chambers with a heavy heart. The news she had received had shaken her to the core, and she desperately longed for the comfort of her mother's voice.

However, as she walked down the dimly lit corridor towards her room, she couldn't shake off the sense of foreboding that hung in the air.

The elders' decision not to allow her to stay in the chambers was not only for her own protection but also a reflection of their fear that she might break down upon learning the truth.

Inside her room, Mia sank onto her bed, the weight of the world pressing down upon her. She reached for her phone and dialed her mother's number, her trembling fingers struggling to find the right keys.

As the phone rang, Mia's mind raced with the events that had unfolded before her. She couldn't shake the feeling that she had stumbled upon something momentous, something that held the key to everything, including her identity and her purpose.

Finally, her mother's voice came through the receiver, filled with a mix of concern and relief. "Mia, darling, are you okay? I've been worried sick about you."

Mia took a deep breath, trying to steady her voice. "Mom, something incredible happened today. I stumbled upon a secret, I can't say it over the phone. It's... it's overwhelming."

There was a pause on the other end, and then her mother spoke, her voice filled with urgency. "Mia, my dear, I can sense the weight in your words. I'm on my way to you right now. There's something very important that I need to tell you, something that can't be said over the phone right now. It's time for you to know the truth."

Mia's heart raced, a mix of anticipation and anxiety flooding her veins. What could be so crucial that her mother felt the need to travel to her in person? The secrecy only added to her curiosity and apprehension. She trusted her mother implicitly, knowing that she held the answers Mia had been seeking all her life.

As Mia awaited her mother's arrival, she paced restlessly around her room, her mind a whirlwind of questions. The hours felt like an eternity, but finally, a soft knock at the door broke the silence. Mia rushed to open it, her eyes instantly finding her mother's comforting presence.

They embraced tightly, their bond as mother and daughter an unbreakable thread. "Mom," Mia whispered, her voice laced with a mixture of longing and trepidation, "what is it? What is this important revelation you have for me?"

"You go first, honey. What was it that made you so scared over the phone? What happened?" her mother questioned.

"Mom, I know you'll reprimand me for this, but just listen to me first, okay?" Mia pleaded.

"Okay, I'm all ears. You can tell me what happened," replied Mia's mum.

"I was feeling uneasy about Alex going out without knowing about his whereabouts and why he was taking eternity to come back home."

"I sneaked out of the pack house and went into the woods following his smell. I tried to mindlink him, but I couldn't because there was an obvious thick barrier, so I followed the smell deep into the forest, and his smell became thicker when I got close to an abandoned pack house."

"I looked into the building but couldn't find anything, so I went inside."

Mia's mum gasped in shock, but Mia was quick to reply her.

"Mum, I'm still explaining something to you," she queried.

"Sorry, you can continue," her mum replied.

"When I looked inside, I saw Alex standing with a lifeless body lying close to him, Mum. Alex's hands dripping blood, and he was emitting a very dark Aura."

"I made my way close to him without anyone noticing me, Mum, and tried calling Alex. He turned, but it wasn't my husband. He hit me, and I passed out only to wake up this morning. I got back into the pack house without anyone noticing, and my chambermaid came to tell a very shocking news that Alex and his warriors were dead." Mia finished telling her mum what happened, leaving out some parts.

Her mother's eyes glistened with unshed tears, a mixture of sorrow and determination etched on her face. "My dear Mia," she began, her voice quivering with emotion, "the time has come for you to know the truth about who you are, about your heritage, and the destiny that awaits you."

Mia's heart pounded in her chest as she listened, her breath caught in her throat. Her mother's words hung in the air, laden with a weight she could barely comprehend. In that moment, as the room seemed to hold its breath, Mia knew that her life was about to change forever.

With a mixture of anticipation and fear, Mia waited for her to continue speaking but she didn't start speaking immediately.

She let her head down in sadness as she couldn't comprehend why it must be her daughter.

"I knew this day would come, but I never thought it would happen this way or I'd be scared and short of words to explain everything to you, Mia."

"Your father and I love you so much and don't want anything to happen to you. That's why we kept it a secret all this while, Mia. Please don't hold it against us; I know it'll hurt, but we're sorry. It's what any parent will do."

Stella bent her head in tears as Mia tried comforting and preparing herself for the news her mum wanted to deliver.
