Chapter 91: Chapter 91

Mia Heartman

Mia couldn't shake off the worry as she paced in her dimly lit living room, her heart racing with concern for Alex. His prolonged absence fueled her anxiety, and the fear of losing him after all they'd been through overwhelmed her.

Unable to contain her worry, Mia decided to venture out into the cool night, following the faint scent of Alex. Using a cloak to conceal her movements, she stepped through the hideout at the back of the pack house.

The moonlit surroundings were eerily silent as Mia treaded cautiously, guided by the breeze carrying Alex's essence. Her senses heightened, she felt a sense of danger. The scent led her deeper into the woods until she arrived at a decrepit, abandoned building on the outskirts.

Despite recalling reading about this building in the Alpha library, Mia pushed the thought aside. Her focus was on finding Alex.

Driven by love, Mia approached the derelict structure. The pungent stench of decay filled the air as she peered through a cracked window. The sight before her was unimaginable – Alex in the center of the dilapidated room with blood-stained hands, surrounded by people bowing in allegiance. Terror washed over Mia as she realized the magnitude of the scene unfolding.

Filled with desperation, Mia knew she had to reach Alex. Pushing open the creaking door, she crawled silently toward where he stood against the walls.

"Please, Alex," she whispered. "We need to leave. This isn't you."

Her plea went unanswered. When Alex's eyes snapped toward her direction, a flicker of recognition broke through. But it was quickly extinguished by rage.

Without warning, Alex lunged at her, delivering a violent slap that sent Mia crashing into a gnarled tree. Pain seared through her as consciousness slipped away.

Unbeknownst to her, Mia's powers awakened. As her body lay still against the tree, energy surged through her, mending her broken bones. It was evidence of her resilience, a glimmer of hope in the face of despair.

As Mia opened her eyes, disoriented and dazed, a great pain exploded through her skull, and her vision blurred. The others, consumed by loyalty to Alex, assumed Mia was dead and turned away. Lying amidst the fallen leaves, she drew upon her inner strength, the dormant power that resided within her.
