Chapter 89: Chapter 89

Alex grunted from the pain and stood up sluggishly.

"Hendrix, I swear by my birth that I'll kill you even if it will take my life," Alex swore before picking up the sword beside him to fight.

Hendrix smirked and walked closer to meet Alex, raising his sword at him, he made a move to stab Alex again but the latter shifted and dodged, cutting the sword through his back, he kicked Hendrix's steps back.

Another group of cloaked men rushed to the duo, attacking Alex.

"Mia!" Alex exclaimed in his weakened state, his strength was failing him, and he made a move to escape them.

He ran around in circles and stopped when he realised that he couldn't run out of the circle Hendrix had drawn around him.

"Hendrix, what have you done?!" Alex shouted, making more attempts to flee the circle to no avail.

"Alpha Alex, I'm sorry, but my pledged allegiance to you ended moments ago," Hendrix said to Alex.

"You're no longer, my Lord, and I'm not your subject. At this moment, you're nothing but an ordinary man who's in the hands of a demon messenger," He laughed evilly, still trailing the circle around.

"Get me the chains, I need to unleash my Lord from the confines of where he's been held captive," he ordered the cloaked men.

A minute later, they all encircled Alex, encompassing him with the chains. Alex growled at the anger of being overpowered.

"Hendrix," he roared in anger.

The chains were tied around him, making him unable to move.

" Why are you doing this, Hendrix?" Alex asked exhaustedly.

"Because I need to free my master, Alex. I need to let the demon inside you escape the confines of your chest. I want my one true lord to come back to life, " Hendrix replied.

"The demon in me is your lord, Hendrix?" Alex asked, puzzled.

"Yes, he is. Haven't you wondered why I am the only one who can make you return to your normal state whenever it feels like you're about to erupt?" Hendrix eyed Alex and continued, "I'm the demon's keeper. Its protector. Your people have harmed my demon, and that is why I would ruin them."

"It's you, Hendrix. You're the one who has been killing the wolves, taking them to the platform, isn't it? I trusted you Hendrix, but what did you do? You killed wolves of your kind in the name of serving a demon, perhaps your demon had ordered people like you to take lives, that's why my people killed him," Alex retorted, angrily.

"No!!!!, It's a lie, your people were greedy, searching for power and wealth. The demon was the only one who had it and after their agreement, your people betrayed my lord by killing it, " Hendrix replied, losing almost all his patience.

"Get me the demon's soul water, " he said to the cloaked man behind him.

Alex's thoughts were filled with how to escape to meet Mia, his newly found love, the light in his life after years of darkness. If he became that monster again, would Mia be able to save him like before?

His shoulders sagged. There seemed to be no hope this time around.

He smiled in self-ridicule, how long had he waited for the moment when he would self annihilate himself, to wipe himself from the face of the earth, but now, he so much despised the thought of death, he didn't want to leave his beloved Mia alone.

Alex thinned his lips as he thought about Mind-linking her.

"Don't you darw think about linking your mind to that wife of yours, Alex," Hendrix said, cutting his thoughts short.

"Why, are you scared?" Alex scoffed.

"Why would I be scared of an ordinary woman, Alex? I can just have my men have a nice time with her," he said with a devilish grin, still waiting for the demon's soul water.

"Don't you dare, Hendrix, or I swear I'll make sure your lord burns you to death, Hendrix," Alex snarled at him.

"Where's the demon's soul I asked of you?" Hendrix shouted from where he stood. "Quick or the ominous time runs out," he added.

A cloaked man walked towards Hendrix, handing him the demon's soul water.

"What took you so long idiot?!" Hendrix yelled, kicking him in the knees to the ground.

The man grunted in pain, apologizing for his lateness.

"Now, I need all of you to come gather up here and hold him, make sure he doesn't flip or make any large movements," Hendrix commanded.

"Don't do it, Hendrix, Hendrix!" Alex shouted, trying to free himself from the chains.

His body shook violently against the chains in a bid to free himself. His heart pounded in his chest, and sweat glided down his body, soaking his attire.

"You'll injure yourself, Alex. These chains are used to hold down the monster, and you're just an ordinary mortal. You can't break the chains," Hendrix uttered mockingly.

"It's too late, my future lord," Hendrix said, signalling for the cloaked men to hold him.

His hesitance made no difference as Hendrix shoved his head backwards, holding tightly. He poured the water into his mouth.

Alex held his breath, refusing to swallow the water. He felt his stomach ripple, and he scrunched his eyes in pain.

"You don't have to swallow the demon's soul water for it to take effect," Hendrix mocked.

Alex's head was bowed, and his heart stopped for a second.

"I'll miss you, Mia," he said softly as his mind got hazier and was kept awake by Mia's memories.

"I want you to be here, Mia. I want to have you in my arms one last time before I lose myself," he muttered to himself.

His skin started rippling, and his fangs elongated.

"My Lord, I await your full arrival," Hendrix beamed, clapping his hands.

His claws elongated, and his eyes were changing their colors to that of a complete dark hue.

"No!" Alex exclaimed from the pain racking through his body. His hands were scally and full of furs.

Hendrix's eyes shone with accomplishment when he saw what he had done.
