Chapter 117: Chapter 117
Mia, Heartman, and the sorcerer left Natalie behind at the sorcerer's place because she was already injured during the clash.
Mia and Heartman ran towards the building where the final sacrifice would be made, and the sorcerer stayed behind to distract Alex while they destroyed the altar and exorcised the demon.
Standing before the main room where the altar was set up, Mia and Heartman felt their hearts pounding with a mixture of anticipation and fear. They had finally located the place where the demon intended to fully possess Alex, and they knew they had to act quickly to prevent Alex's servants from catching up with them.
Heartman's hands trembled slightly as he clutched the ancient book of exorcism chants, its pages worn and fragile with age. Mia stood close to him, holding the little dagger the sorcerer had given her.
With a deep breath, Mia took the lead, stepping cautiously into the room. The low lighting and flickering candles cast eerie shadows on the cold stone walls. The atmosphere was suffused with an otherworldly energy, prickling at their skin as they ventured deeper.
Heartman followed closely behind Mia, his heart pounding in his chest. He had never thought about this before jumping into it, but now it was too late because Mia's mind was made up.
As they neared the center of the room, Mia and Heartman discovered the main altar, a grotesque structure adorned with esoteric symbols and surrounded by charred remains. This was where the demon would attempt its final ascension, seizing complete control over Alex's body and soul.
Without wasting a moment, Mia and Heartman began the ancient chants, their voices harmonizing with an ethereal resonance that filled the chamber. The words reverberated through the air, a powerful incantation designed to weaken the demon's grip and dismantle the altar.
But just as the chants reached a crescendo, the ground beneath them began to tremble. The stone floor cracked open, and Alex emerged, flanked by his loyal followers who had been twisted and corrupted by the demon's influence. Their eyes glowed with a sinister crimson light, and the air crackled with malevolent energy.
A tense battle ensued, with Mia and Heartman fighting against Alex's possessed men. Meanwhile, the sorcerer appeared, and Alex groaned.
"You're too slow. How do you think you can conquer all the wolf clan and be the leader of all wolves?" Alex charged towards the sorcerer, forgetting what he was doing.
The clash of steel and supernatural powers filled the chamber as they battled for control. A few of Heartman's warriors fought delightfully with Alex's men.
Mia and Heartman were also attacked by some men. Despite the overwhelming odds, they fought with unwavering determination, channeling their strength and skills, pushing themselves to the limit. Their bodies ached, and their movements were fueled by sheer willpower.
Reaching the altar again, they continued their chants. The foundation of the building shook heavily, and the lines on the altar shone bright.
"Stop this!" Alex's voice boomed. "You cannot prevent what is meant to be."
"Nothing of this is meant to be. The moon will never allow someone to destroy her hard labor; the werewolf clan is her family, and she'll always look over us," Mia shouted.
Summoning every ounce of strength she had left, Mia focused her energy and stepped forward. "Take my powers," she offered. "Use them to exorcise the demon from Alex's soul."
With a nod of agreement, the sorcerer channeled Mia's powers, amplifying them with his own. The combined energy surged through him, filling the room with a blinding light. The force of their united efforts sent shockwaves through the chamber, shaking the very foundation of the altar.
As the light reached its peak, Alex's body convulsed, writhing in agony. The demon's hold weakened, its power slipping away. Mia could see flickers of her husband returning, his eyes clearing as the darkness receded.
Heartman and the other warriors ran out unable to stand the power surging from the light.
"I offer my powers," she cried, her words piercing through the chaos. "In exchange for the exorcism of this demon!" She cried again despite all the pain she felt.
Her offer hung in the air, and time seemed to stand still. The possessed soldiers paused, their expressions shifting as they considered her proposition. Even the demon seemed momentarily taken aback by Mia's act; he never thought anyone would do this, not even family; this is the main reason he hated love and family bonds.
With a final surge of energy, the light exploded outward, disintegrating the demon's presence and shattering the altar into dust. The room fell silent, the weight of the battle finally lifted.
Mia stood, weak but triumphant, as the sorcerer approached her. "You did it,"
Mia collapsed to the floor, drained and exhausted from the immense energy she had expended. The sorcerer rushed to her side, concern etched on his face. But Mia smiled, her heart filled with a sense of fulfillment.
She watched Alex lying on the floor unconsciously; she hoped and prayed he was ok since she had completed the sacrifice.
Mia couldn't drift off even when she had no strength left in her. She wanted to see if Alex was fine before she could decide on anything.
The sorcerer held her close as he rubbed gently on her head in assurance that everything went well. Mia, with her last strength, looked up at him to see if he was sure Alex is fine or just saying it so she'll be ok. The joy in his eyes gave Mia all the answers she needed; Alex will be ok.
Just as she was about to drift off into unconsciousness, Alex moved his body, raised his hand to pull himself up. Mia smiled and accepted, "I did it."
