Chapter 116: Chapter 116

Outside the sorcerer's abode, Mia and Alex's parents chatted as they made their way home.

"Heartman, I told you the place looks familiar; now you believe me, right? I can't miss it; I know the place so well, and it still hasn't changed a bit all those years," Natalie said.

"I believe you now, Luna Natalie," Heartman said, laughing. He went ahead and teased her.

"Why would you want a sorcerer to change his place? It's not a rented apartment or a palace," Heartman said, laughing out loud. Mia couldn't help but join in the laugh.

"Heartman darling, are you mocking me?" Natalie did a baby face, trying to win Heartman.

Heartman looked at her and refused to fall for her trick. Mia just looked at both of them, happy that they weren't crying or blaming themselves for how Alex turned out to be.

She misses her mom too much; it hurts really bad. Her mom would have known exactly what to do right in this situation. She missed all the time she ran away from home to play with friends. If she had known, she would have stayed with her mom to enjoy her presence and embrace.

Natalie noticed it and tapped Mia's back gently, "it'll be okay, dearest. You'll get past this phase; we'll be happy again soon, and we'll be complete with Alex with us," Natalie assured her.

Right there, where they were trying to cheer Mia up, Natalie remembered the sorcerer's word.

"Mia, what does it mean? The sorcerer said you should be healthy to save Alex."

"It's nothing of great importance, Mom. Just, I'll be giving up my powers to save Alex and destroy the demon forever," Mia explained.

"No, I thought you just had to use your light to save him. Why take your powers away? Isn't it too much? When did you agree to it?" Heartman asked.

"The light can only work when the demon hasn't fully bloomed. But now it's out and using Alex already, so to destroy it, we'll need more than just the light," Mia said to them.

"Oh, I now understand. But Mia, are you ready to make such a sacrifice for Alex?" Heartman asked again.

"Alex is my husband, and I won't want to lose him or anyone to the wicked demon. I have lost so much already. After all, it's my destiny to save Alex," Mia said, smiling.

As they emerged from the treeline, their peaceful conversation was interrupted by the sudden onslaught of men emerging from the shadows, their faces masked with malicious intent. The attackers outnumbered Mia and Alex's parents, surrounding them with weapons glinting in the fading light.

Mia's father came out from the shadows with any mask. "Stay behind me, Mia," Heartman commanded, his voice firm and protective. He tightened his grip on the sword, his eyes scanning the men, searching for any signs of danger. But before he could react, the attackers lunged forward with their weapons.

Fear gripped Mia's heart as she watched her father fiercely fighting against Heartman. His sword danced through the air with deadly precision.

In the chaos of the battle, something within Mia began to stir. A power she had never felt before surged through her veins, awakening a force deep within her.

Her father's sword sliced through Heartman's shoulder. Mia remembered just the way he had stabbed her mother to death.

Mia's eyes flashed with an otherworldly glow, and her body seemed to radiate an ethereal aura. Pain and hatred ate deep within her as she watched her father fight with Heartman; she didn't want what happened to her mother to repeat itself.

Without warning, Mia's Mundara powers took over, engulfing her in a raging storm of energy. She moved with a grace and agility that surpassed her own understanding; her every motion was a blur of lightning-fast strikes. The men attacking her and Heartman faltered, their expressions morphing from confidence to confusion.

Caught in the grip of her newfound abilities, Mia turned her attention toward her father, unaware of the danger that lurked within her. Her eyes locked with his, and she charged at him, sword raised high. Henry's face contorted with shock and disbelief, unable to comprehend what was happening to his beloved daughter.

Heartman, recognizing the Mundara powers that had taken hold of Mia, swiftly intervened, moving with speed towards Natalie. He dragged her towards the covering as they hid themselves behind an oak tree that could deflect her strikes.

Meanwhile, the remaining attackers found themselves no match for Heartman and the other warriors who had joined the fray. In a display of skill and strength, they fought back, their determination fueled by shared camaraderie and a sense of duty to protect their own.

As the clash of steel echoed through the air, Heartman finally managed to subdue Mia, disentangling her from the clutches of her powers. He held her tightly, whispering soothing words in her ear, assuring her that she was safe. The storm within Mia subsided, and she collapsed into Heartman's arms, her body trembling with exhaustion and grief.

The battle came to an end, the attackers lying defeated on the blood-stained ground. The sorcerer, a wise and enigmatic figure, watched from a distance, his eyes filled with a mix of sorrow and grim satisfaction. He had foreseen this dark turn of events, knowing that Mia's powers held the potential for both salvation and destruction.

"Well done, child. You've unleashed a power you can't control because of fear and rage; you'll be fine," he said to Mia, who was being held down by Heartman.

"Gather up their corpses and set them ablaze so the demon won't add them to his army of the dead," he instructed Heartman and the few warriors remaining.

In accordance with the sorcerer's instructions, Heartman and the other warriors collected the bodies and piled them together in a heap. A solemn silence descended upon them as they set the gruesome heap ablaze; their
