Chapter 70: Chapter 70

Around 11 am the following morning, Angie woke up sluggishly on the bed. She opened her eyes slowly looking for Jessica beside her but couldn't find her.

The ray of light shone through the window and she closed her eyes again, feeling lazy to stand up.

“ Are you still sleeping? What time did you go to bed last night?” Jessica asked with raised brows, staring at Angie on the bed.“

Around 2 am I guess umm-umm,” Angie answered, yawning.

“ Wow, were you able to complete the work? Jessica asked, walking toward the bed.

“ Yes, I did. You cook?” Angie asked, darting her eyes, as she perceived the smell of a delicious meal.

“ Yes, I did. Hope you remember the appointment?” Jessica asked, sitting beside her friend.

“ Of course I do. Have you taken your bath? Angie asked with narrow eyes.

“ Yes, stand up and go take your shower while I set the dining table,” Jessica said, running her hand through Angie's hair.

“ Okay mama,” Angie said with a smile. Jessica left the room to set up the dining room while Angie walked to the bathroom.

After thirty-five the two friends walked out of the apartment and headed to the car park.

Angie drove them to the city hospital and they arrived after ten minutes of driving.

They came down from the car and walked toward the Hospital entrance, Angie pushed the glass door and the two walked to the receptionist.

The receptionist confirmed their appointment and directed them to Dr. Emma's office down the corridor. Once they got to the direct office, Angie confirmed the name on it and knocked on the door gently, the two were ushered in a voice and they walked in.

" Good afternoon Doctor Emma," Angie greeted, holding Jessica's hand firmly.

" Good afternoon Miss, I must take it, are you Angie?" Doctor Emma said, looking at them through her glasses.

" Yes Doctor, and this is my friend, Jessica, the one I made an appointment on her behalf," Angie replied with a smile.

" Welcome you both. Please have your seat." Doctor Emma said, pointing to the available couch in her office.

Angie and Jessica sat down. Angie couldn't help but look into her friend's eyes. Jessica leaned back, looking around the office with hunched shoulders. Angie held onto her hand, trying to calm her down and giving her an assurance look.

" How far are you, Miss? Jessica?" the Doctor asked, walking toward them."Six months." Jessica and Angie said at the same time.

Doctor Emma could not help but adjust her glasses, to glance at the two and said, " Are you two coupl_"

"We are friends, doctors. Just friends." Angie said calmly with a smile.

" Oh, I can see you too are very close then. Have you been to any hospital ever since you confirmed you are pregnant," the doctor asked and Jessica shook her head in No.

The doctor stood up and arranged a bed. She gestured for Jessica to lie on it. Jessica did as was told. The doctor started the ultrasound machine and she started to examine Jessica while tubing her stomach with a liquid substance.

Angie stood up and she was beside the doctor looking at the screen. The doctor smiled looking at the screen and the two friends wondered what the result was.

When the doctor was done, Jessica stood up from the bed and the two walked back to the couch, waiting for the result.

"Miss Jessica!" The doctor called while sitting across from them and the two waited patiently for her next statement, darting their eyes.

" You are expecting two babies. A boy and a girl precisely." the doctor said with a smile.

" Two babies?" they shouted with wide eyes." Yes, two babies. And you need to register for antenatal as soon as possible." Doctor Emma replied, giving Jessica a brown envelope but Jessica sat there, staring into space.

Angie quickly collected the envelope from the doctor. She opened it and found a printed picture showing the result of the scan.

"Babe, look at them," Angie said, turning to Jessica.

She collected the picture from her and stared at it for a long time without saying a word.

" Doctor, what is the procedure to register for antenatal? " Angie asked with a narrow eye." You can go to the receptionist. I will forward the necessary information from my side.

Just fill out a form and get your card and make sure to bring your friend here without skipping because the baby might decide to come early." Doctor Emna explained, looking at Angie.

Angie thanked her and dragged her friend along with her and they walked to the receptionist.

They filled out the form and did all the necessary tests. Jessica was scheduled twice a week.

After they were done with all the procedures, the two friends walked out of the hospital and headed to the car park.

"Are you okay?" Angie asked worriedly, seeing Jessica not saying anything since she learned she would be having two babies.

" Do you hear what the doctor said? Two babies? Really? How am I going to survive that?" Jessica asked, blinking her tears away.

Angie quickly hugged her and said, " Don't worry. Since you granted my request for feeding you yesterday, I will feed you more food, and guess what, we are taking care of them together." Jessica could not help but smile at her.

They entered the car and Angie started driving.

" I'm hungry," Jessica said, darting at her friend.

"What do you want to eat my dear friend? Angie replied with a smile.

"Chinese food!"

"Wait, you are not tired of that?"

" No, that's what I am craving," Jessica replied.

" Alright, Let's go eat some Chinese prawns," Angie said.

Angie drove them to a nearby Chinese restaurant. They order for themselves. Jessica ate a lot of food and Jessica tried to calm her down to eat slowly. She bought some takeout for her just in case she asked for it again.

After spending a few minutes at the restaurant, they headed to their apartment and started debating the baby's name. When they got home, Gary called Jessica through video call and Angie broke the news to him about Jessica expecting two babies.

Gary was happy about the news too and they both made a joke about Jessica because she always believed she wouldn't be having two babies because of the stress of raising them.
