Chapter 62: Chapter 62
On Monday morning, Edwin woke up early to prepare for work. He hasn't tried to call Jessica since the last time he visited her apartment and he saw Gary's car.
He felt cheated on because girls are always the ones begging for his attention and not the other way around.
He decided not to call her even though he knew he missed her so much, he couldn't stop thinking about her and he wondered why she would leave him waiting while she spent time with Gary in her apartment.
He left home and drove to work, got to the company's car park, Edwin walked to his office and looked at Jessica's seat, and he was not surprised she hadn't arrived because he arrived early.
Edwin was busy working on some documents that needed quick attention and he was so engrossed in work that he forgot to check if Jessica was around.
Around 10 am, Edwin sent some documents to Jessica to work on and he continued working on his laptop typing on the laptop.
After a few minutes, Edwin checked his email to see if she had sent the document for him to review but he was shocked to his bone when he noticed no new message from her.
With a furrowed brow, Edwin stood up from his seat immediately and walked to Jessica's office but to his surprise, she wasn't in her office.
Edwin walked to her seat and checked her cabinet if anything was missing, but to his surprise, nothing was missing.
Pacing up and down in the office, Edwin couldn't believe what was happening and he thought of what might have happened to her to behave in such a way.
"Why will Jessica behave this way? Did she decide to work for Gary because he offered her higher pay?" Edwin thought to himself with a sly smile on his face.
He walked back to his office to continue his work but Edwin couldn't concentrate on the document he was working on.
Rubbing his hand through his hair, Edwin's hand ran through the laptop, trying to do something meaningful but his thought kept going to Jessica.
He remembered the first time they had sex, and how they told each other they wished they continued like this.
" Why will she let me disvirgin her when she knows she will leave me so soon?"
" Maybe she's not feeling fine, am I getting angry over nothing? Did Gary help her?"
Edwin continued asking himself a series of questions he couldn't answer.
" Should I call her? I think I will talk it out and settle the misunderstanding, or maybe I should go to her apartment," Edwin thought to himself with a furrowed brow.
" Yes! That's the best thing I can do right now, I need to let go of my ego," Edwin said as he stood up from his seat and walked out of his office toward the elevator, he pressed the last floor button and the elevator chimed open, he entered the elevator and it closed.
On getting to the last floor, Edwin walked toward the car park, some workers sighted him and they wondered why their boss was getting off early today.
Edwin noticed Jessica's parking space had been occupied and he had a full smile on his face, thinking Jessica must be on the company premises.
He walked toward the car happily. He bent down a little and checked inside the car, looking through the car window, but he noticed there was a little change in the interior of the car.
He picked out his phone to dial Jessica's number and it went to voicemail, he tried it again and again and his call kept going to voicemail.
He walked toward the security guard who was sitting at his duty post with a long face wondering why he was playing hide and seek with him.
On sighting his boss, the guard stood up immediately and walked toward Edwin.
"Good afternoon sir," The man greeted Edwin, as he bent down a little to show a sign of respect in a calm voice.
" Good afternoon James, do you see Jessica when she comes in with the car?" Edwin asked with narrowed eyes, pointing to Jessica's car.
" It wasn't Miss. Jessica that brought it, it was Gary Anderson's assistant that brought the car," James explained looking directly into Edwin's eyes.
" Gary Anderson assistant?" Edwin said with wide eyes.
" Yes sir, he brought it during lunch," James responded in a low voice, looking at his boss, wondering if anything was wrong.
Edwin couldn't process what he just heard and he wondered what Gary and Jessica were up to.
He walked toward his car and drove out of the company and he held onto Jessica's apartment.
In less than fifteen minutes, he got to her apartment, he got out of his car. He walked toward the apartment and his eyes caught the signpost at the entrance of the apartment.
" For rent!!!" Edwin read them aloud, darting his eyes at the entrance.
" What is Jessica up to? If she's going to break up with me, can't she do it in an honorable way?" Edwin thought, tilting his head with a furrowed brow.
He picks up his phone and dialed the number on the signpost to know what happened to Jessica.
He was heartbroken after he learned she left the state already. He asked the receiver if he had the idea which state she was in then he couldn't answer his question.
Looking at the apartment for the last time, Edwin entered his car and drove away, he dialed Roy's number and drove toward the bar house as he thought about Jessica.
" Where exactly is Jessica? "
