Chapter 59: Chapter 59

It's been a month since Jessica and Edwin started dating, and their relationship is getting stronger. Jessica has been conferring about introducing him to her parents one of these days.

She was in the office working on some documents assigned to her by Edwin, and it was almost closing time.

Hearing footsteps towards her, she raised her head to see Edwin, who had prepared to go home early because he was going to his family villa tonight to talk things out with her mum, who insisted he must date the girl she introduced to him.

" Babe, I want to be on my way right now, are you going to see me tonight?" Edwin said as he checked his wristwatch.

" No, I want to make sure to finish this document, you know tomorrow is Roy's birthday, and I will have to do some shopping," Jessica said with a smile.

" Can't you order online?"

" Not after my last experience, I will have to go myself, then from there, get my hair done at the salon," Jessica explained.

" Alright, I have a business meeting too, you will come yourself then from there, we are going to my place together," Edwin said with a sly smile, sounding happy.

" Hmm, that means I won't be coming with my car, just share me the location then I will join you tomorrow," Jessica said.

"Alright love, see you tomorrow," Edwin said, as he bent down to kiss her before he walked out of the office.

After Edwin left, Jessica continued working on her laptop. She touched her head to feel her temperature. She has been having some symptoms these days and she hasn't had time to take care of herself, with working and spending time with Edwin.

She decided to use tomorrow to do all her outstanding work and part of it now but she couldn't do anything before she started feeling sleepy all over again.

" Umm, have been lazy these days, I should be able to finish this document before going to bed," she thought to herself, yawning.

After thirty minutes of dozing and walking up between work, she was able to complete the document and she sent it to Edwin immediately for review.

" Finally done with this week's tasks," Jessica said, as she stood up, stretching her body.

She went to the kitchen to prepare herself dinner, after she finished eating, she walked to her room and lay on her bed without changing into her nightwear.

The following day, Jessica woke up around 10:30 am. She stood up and walked out of her bed then to the bathroom to brush her teeth, then decided to do some laundry before going out.

Around 1:30 pm, she was done with her laundry then she picked up her phone to call the doctor she booked an appointment with to know if the appointment is still valid, and luckily for her, it was.

She left the house and drove to the salon to get her hair down then went shopping for her dress. After getting dressed, she drove to the hospital, which is close to her current location.

Jessica packed her car and picked up her phone, she decided to check if she had any message that needed her attention, unlocking the phone, she saw Edwin's message attached with the location of Roy's birthday party, she replied to him with a smile.

She got down from her car and walked inside the hospital. Getting inside, she walked to the nurse's desk and one of them directed her to the doctor's office.

Walking down the wards, Jessica stopped at a particular door and knocked lightly, and a voice ushered her inside.

" Good evening Dr. Robinson," Jessica said with a smile.

" Miss Graves, please have your seat,"

Jessica sat down on the vacant chair across from the doctor and leaned her back.

" Miss. Graves, with the symptoms you explain to me on phone, I will need to ask you some questions," The Doctor said, looking at Jessica with a smile

"Okay, am listening please,"

" When was your last period? Do you notice you missed a day or you didn't track it?" The doctor asked in a calm voice, maintaining eye contact with her.

" Have been busy lately, but I will check it now," Jessica said, as she brought her phone out, clicking on her period tracker app.

Jessica rubbed her eyes, seeing the number of days the app already missed on the app.

" Doctor, I am over ten days late, do you think I'm pregnant?" Jessica said, with her heart beating rapidly.

" Then we will need to confirm that first," The doctor said, standing up from her seat in a wooden cabinet in the office, she brought a pregnancy kit and handed it over to Jessica.

" Do you know how to use it? " The doctor asked with a smile.

" No, can you please explain?" Jessica said with shaking hands.

The doctor explained the procedure to her, Jessica stood up and went to the bathroom, with a droopy body. After a few minutes, when she came out, the doctor collected the kit from her, checking out the result.

" Miss. Graves, you are pregnant,"

"Pregnant!!!" Jessica exclaimed.

" Yes, you are," the doctor affirmed.

" Okay, can I go now?" Jessica asked as her breathing increased.

" Yes, and if you need to discuss anything with me, I will be right here, just make sure you make the right decision," The doctor explained, seeing her behavior.

" Thank you doctor Robinson, I will surely contact you if I need to discuss anything with you,"

" Alright, enjoyed the rest of you say,"

Jessica walked out of the hospital, thinking of what to do, how to break the news to Edwin, she remembered Edwin telling her how much he loves kids and he will love to get married soon, thinking of this made her nerves calm down a little and she wished he should keep to his words.

Jessica entered her car and drove to her apartment, she walked inside and walked straight to her room and she dropped her shopping bag on the bed.

Jessica brought her phone out to check the time she dropped it seeing it was already getting late

" I have just twenty minutes to dress up," she thought to herself.

She quickly entered the bathroom and had her shower and she walked out after five minutes, she started dressing up. She applied a little makeup and picked up her phone to order a taxi as she put on her heels. The driver called her to inform her of his arrival and she walked out of the apartment with her small purse that matched her emerald shoe.

After twenty minutes of driving, they arrived at the location and she got out of the car, it was already getting dark. She brought her phone out to dial Edwin's number but before she did, a waitress walked in her direction and asked if she was there for the birthday party, and she nodded her head, affirming her statement.

" Please follow me, ma'am," the waitress said.

Jessica followed her and they entered the elevator, going to the fourth floor, they both walked out and walked toward a room that was already filled with people. The room has a dim disco light, which makes it difficult for Jessica to see Edwin.

She walked into the room, glancing through the room to locate him, she picked up her phone to call him but didn't pick up the call. Looking left and right, Jessica sighted Edwin, Roy, and another guy in a corner and with a smile, she walked toward them. She stopped immediately when she heard Roy mentioning her name, and she hid so she could eavesdrop on their conversation.

" What does Roy mean by that?"

" Edwin, what's your plan with your little secretary," Roy said with a smile.

" You've won the bet, guy, you slept with her within three months, I bet she would take you seriously," Rick said with a sly smile.

Rick was also Edwin's friend but he's a model and he just arrived in the city for Roy's birthday, he was the third friend that was there when the three friends placed a bet on Jessica.

" Guys stop talking, " Edwin said with a smile.

In the corner, where she was hiding, Jessica allowed the tears to continue flowing without trying to hold them or control herself despite being in a public place.

" Edwin placed a bet on me?" Jessica said in her head, as she walked out of the room and headed to the elevator.
