Edwin moved his lip towards her and Jessica found herself holding Edwin by his neck. Her lips were pouting and her gaze was fixed on Edwin's face too. She was eagerly waiting for him to kiss her.

Edwin was about to take initiative and their lips almost touched each other. But just that moment, the two were disturbed by the ringing of Edwin's phone.

"Fuck!" Edwin swore inwardly.

Jessica quickly took a step back with her hand on her chest. She wondered what she was about to do just now. If not that Edwin's phone rang just in time, would she have had her first kiss with this pervert?

"Damn! He was a hot pervert!" Jessica said in her mind as she tried to compose her emotions.

She looked down to see the picture frame on the ground. She felt sorry that she had broken it due to her inquisitiveness. If only she just left the office right away. She bent down to pick up the glass but Edwin stopped her, holding her hand.

“Don't worry I will get the janitor to do it,” Edwin said in a calm tone, as he raised her back to her feet.

“Okay sir,” Jessica said, nodding her head but she could hardly look at his face.

She can't believe they almost kissed!

“I am sorry for entering your office when you are not there. I am done with all the work assigned to me. I wanted to check if there was anything I could do,” Jessica said, avoiding eye contact with Edwin.

“It's okay. You are my assistant, not some outsiders. I will send some documents to your email for a review then you can work on it,” Edwin explained.

“ Okay, sir, “ Jessica said as she walked out of the office.

Getting to her seat, Jessica couldn't stop thinking of what happened between her and Edwin. She touched her lips with her hand smiling.

“ Hmm, Angie is very right. I think I am falling in love with my boss," Jessica thought to herself with her heart beating rapidly.

There was a beep sound on her computer. It must be the work her boss wanted her to work on. Checking her email, she saw that it was indeed the document sent to her by him. She downloaded it and started working on them right away.

After an hour of working, Jessica's intercom rang and she picked up, thinking it was her boss who was calling. Was there another work?

“ Hello sir, “ Jessica said in a low tone, darting her eyes.

“Hello Miss Graves, please your attention is needed in the HR department,” The voice said, startling her.

That wasn't Edwin. It was the HR department and they needed her attention? It wasn't yet time for payment. Why would they send it to her?

“ Okay, sir. I will be right there," Jessica said, thinking about what the issue might be.

After dropping the call, Jessica was lost in her thoughts. “ Why will HR want to see me?" She thought to herself.

Standing up from her seat, Jessica walked out of her office to her boss's office. She needed to take an excuse from him. Knocking on the door, Edwin told her to come inside.

"Sir, I think I need to go over to the HR department. I just received a call that I should come over," Jessica said, biting her lips. She was still feeling embarrassed about what she almost did some few minutes ago.

"You can go," Edwin simply said, busy with his computer.

Jessica quickly turned around to leave for the HR department. Pushing the iron door with transparent glass, she was met with the shock of her life when the people in the HR stood up and started clapping for her.

Jessica tilted her head with narrowed eyes as she tried to get what was happening. Walking inside the office, she saw the chubby looking Manager with glasses on his eyes. He was smiling broadly at her.

The manager stood up to hand over a small box to her as he congratulated her.

"The company wants to thank you for what you did. Through your swift action, we were able to secure the project worth two billion dollars and to show a little appreciation, the higher ups have decided to thank you immensely," the manager said, eloquently.

Jessica thought she must be hearing things. She stood there with wide eyes, trying to process what was happening. Were they telling her that she was being rewarded for the good job she did by helping her boss during their business trip in New york?

She swallowed out to clear her anxiety. She collected the box from the manager and opened it slowly. One glance at what was inside, got her heart pounding. It was too good to be true! She covered her mouth with her hands, controlling her happiness.

"That's to tell you a big thank you. Jessica Graves, the Turner Group would forever be grateful," the manager continued. Then he added," This is also to tell everyone that the management is watching all its workers and appropriate rewards would always be rendered to those deserving."

After saying all that, the manager led her to the car pack to show her the gift. Jeesica started jumping up and down after sighting the car decorated with a ribbon.

Standing before Jessica was a red BMW M6 Cabrio. She had always admired the car since the day she saw the advert. But wasn't this too much for a gift?

Jessica ran to the car and opened the door. She started the engine and ran out again. She was very happy.

"I can't believe I finally have a car! I finally have my favorite car!" Jessica was saying as she ran her hands on the car. She fought back the tears that were about to fall.

Not long, the other workers all came out to congratulate her. The news had spread around all the departments. Misha and James were not left out as they also came to congratulate her after hearing the news of her getting a gift from the company.

"Congratulations sweetheart," Misha beamed, drawing her close for an embrace.

"Thanks, Misha!" Jessica said, smiling at her friend.

James also congratulated her and earned an embrace from her too. After much celebration, it was almost time for lunch, so the three friends went for their lunch.

Jessica was filled with intense joy.
