Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Edwin came out almost immediately, his eyes on Jessica who was sitting on her couch with her leg crossed. The gown was looking so exquisite on her body and it looked as if it was made just for her. His eyes roamed over to her slightly parted red lips and he gulped down his saliva.

" She always looks hot in any dress," Edwin thought to himself, tearing his eyes away from her.

He walked up to her and with a smile, indicated that he was ready. She smiled back at him and he could feel her scorching gaze on him too. He was happy that she took notice of him, at least.

" We can go now, " Edwin said, as he walked out of the suite, feeling happy.

Jessica stood up and followed him out too. She was scolding herself for looking at her boss like that. Why was she being a pervert? How could she look at him like that?

The two entered the elevator and Edwin pressed the button to the down floor. With a ding, they got to the reception floor and they both walked out of the hotel.

Unknown to them, there was a pair of eyes glued to them. It was actually glued to Jessica. Gary Anderson was smitten by Jessica's look. He couldn't take his eyes off her and he followed them stealthily without letting them know.

The two people walked towards the entrance of the hotel where a driver was already waiting for them. Immediately the driver saw them, he quickly came down to open the door for them.

" Thank you," Jessica said, as the man held the car door for her.

Gary couldn't take his eyes off Jessica and her elegance. He had been thinking about her and he knew she was disappointed with the way she looked at him after the meeting. He never expected such a delicate woman to be a computer genius. He wondered if she was a hacker or probably she was just so good at computers.

" Why is she so attracted to me? Why her, of all the women I have seen?" Gary fumed, turning around to go back to his room. He needed to do something about this feeling.

He hated having to share something with Edwin.

After some minutes, Edwin and Jessica arrived at their location. A waiter had been waiting outside for their arrival and he ushered them in.

He led them to the VIP section of the restaurant. After taking their seat, the waiter brought out the menu and he took their orders. He brought a fruit wine for them to take while they waited for their meal to arrive.

Still waiting for their food, Jessica decided to message Angie to let her know that she was shortlisted for the first round. Angie was happy to hear the news and also hoped she changed her mind to come over to work with her.

After speaking with Angie, she dropped her phone while she admired the environment. It was indeed a lot different over the years. She just couldn't stop admiring the scenario as they drove here.

A few minutes later, her phone started ringing with a video call request from Misha, her colleague, and friend at work. She quickly picks up the call with a smile.

" Hello Misha," Jessica said with a smile on her face. She didn't come along with her earplugs so she had to answer on loudspeaker.

" You didn't call me at all! Are they busy over there?" Misha ranted, with a raised brow.

Jessica decided to change the camera so that Misha would know she was with her boss to avoid bad-mouthing him.

" I'm sorry. I am a little busy, I'm coming back tomorrow," Jessica said with a smile on her face.

" Yeah. I can see, after all you are with the big boss! He looks so handsome. And you look so beautiful. James, come and see Jessica!" Misha ranted again, drawing James to the video.

" Hi, Jessica. You look gorgeous!" James said, waving at her.

" Thanks, James. Misha, we will see on Monday,'' Jessica replied and she said goodbye.

Edwin who was typing on his phone was wondering who makes her happy like that. Immediately he heard the other party mention 'James', his expression changed to sour.

" You do have a lot of friends at work," Edwin said with a fake smile.

" Yes, I met Misha the day I came to submit my resume," she explained.

" That's good, but don't trust people easily, sometimes they have their motives," Edwin suggested.

" Hmm, okay. Thanks for the advice," Jessica responded.

Their food arrived and they both started eating. Jessica makes sure to taste every bite of the food, and she wishes to treat her family to this kind of food again.

After eating, Edwin suggested they go to a nearby park before going back to the hotel. That way their food would be digested easily.

Getting to the park, the place was filled with children and adults. Taking her seat on the chair, Jessica looked around the park and smiled.

She remembered how her dad took her to the park with her siblings every weekend despite his busy schedule. All the memories of the park started flowing in her head, starting from when she was little.

" I missed this," Jessica murmured, unaware of her surroundings. She had forgotten she was with her boss.

" Then you should visit regularly if you miss it," Edwin said while taking his seat beside her.

Jessica, who just realized that her boss was with her, smiled faintly.

After sitting for some time, Edwin dragged her along with him and they went to where other people were playing. Kids were running and playing football on the field, yelling at one another to pass. You could taste the dust in your mouth. Walking straight down was a playing ground with small children on the slides and roundabouts.

The wooded area surrounding the park has a mystifying feel with the sun setting and the strange odor of a dank basement coming from its small pond. The air feels sticky and warm this time of the year and the trees blocking the breeze make it even more muggy than usual.

After walking in the park for over an hour, the sun began to set, and Edwin suggested they go back to the hotel.

"I will surely go to the park with my family as soon as I get back. That should be during the weekend," Jessica promised herself.

She had missed the quality time she spent with her family, especially the twins. She was going to try and make up for that.
