Chapter 24: Chapter 24

After a few minutes, the waitress brought their food. Jessica's eyes traveled all over the food as she salivated. The hunger brewing inside her could not be hidden anymore.

She quickly delved into the food, not minding that Edwin was sitting with her too. She was just too famished to think of anything else. She ate the food very fast yet very neatly.

Watching her eating, Edwin blames himself for doing that to her all day. But he was also curious how she was able to maintain her eating etiquette even when she was so hungry. She looked like a well-bred upper-class girl. Someone with a high social status that had been trained.

Edwin quickly dispelled that thought. How could she come from a wealthy family and still work at a cafe? She doesn't even have money to buy clothes for herself! Instead, Edwin focused on his food so she could be satisfied. He was also hungry.

He only took a cup of coffee and he had to work all through the day besides getting laid by Janet. He guessed that must be the main reason he was hungry.

After thirty minutes, they both finished their food. Edwin was busy replying to some messages on his phone while Jessica was checking her watch from time to time.

It was past the time she usually gets home. She knew her family must be expecting her. She doesn't want her family to be worried about her.

Edwin noticed this and was taken aback again. Why would a grown woman be so afraid of her family? He decided to ask her.

"You are a grown woman, why are you still afraid of your family?" He asked, staring at her.

Jessica stopped looking at the watch but focused on him instead.

"Afraid? What gives you the impression that I am afraid of my family?" Jessica asked, furrowing her brows.

" First, you had to take permission from your family before going on a business trip and now you can't even sit comfortably because it's way past your time of getting home. If that isn't being afraid, tell me what it is," Edwin said, resting his back.

" It's called respect and giving honor to your parents. No matter if you are an adult, you are still under the obligation to listen to your parents as long as you still live with them," She said.

" So does that mean you will be free as long as you are no longer under your father's roof? Then can I just give you an apartment? That should solve the issue," Edwin simply said.

Jessica was surprised at his suggestion. Why would he say such a thing? She wondered if he ever had the love of his parents.

" Even if I have my apartment doesn't mean I will stop listening to them or seeking their advice," Jessica said.

Edwin wanted to argue with her more but he decided to let go. It's better not to get her annoyed so he suggested they should start going. He settled the bill and they both walked out of the restaurant.

" Thanks for the dinner, sir," Jessica said, bowing her head a little to greet Edwin.

"You don't need to thank me. It's my apology to you for making you so busy and famished," Edwin said, smiling faintly.

" Thanks for everything. We will see tomorrow, " She said and was about to walk away but Edwin stopped her.

" Where do you live, let me drop you," Edwin said, looking at Jessica who was eager to go home.

" Don't let me stress you, sir, you've done enough for me today! " Jessica explained.

" Did I complain? " Edwin said, opening the car door for her to enter.

Jessica quickly entered the car. Edwin told her to enter her home address and Edwin started driving. After twenty minutes of driving, they were already at Jessica's house.

" Thank you for today, sir," Jessica said, carrying her bag to come down from the car.

" You don't need to come to the office tomorrow, just get yourself prepared and my driver will pick you up by 2 pm," Edwin explained, looking at Jessica.

" Okay, sir, " She replied, trying her best not to look at him.

Jessica came down and waited till Edwin's car left the premises, then she headed into the house.

Jessica was welcomed by her mother at the door and she quickly hugged her. She looked at Jessica for a few minutes.

"What took you so long, sweetheart?" Her mother asked.

"I had to work overtime because I will be traveling with my boss tomorrow," Jessica lied. She didn't want her parents to ask too many questions.

After a few minutes of changing her clothes, she comes down to meet her parents so she can explain to them the business trip which was scheduled for the next day.

" Mum, dad," Jessica called.

.

" We are here princess," Her father answered.

Jessica quickly moves to her father and hugs him before taking her seat on the couch.

" Where are the twins?" She asked, looking around the living room.

" They are busy with their assignments in their room." Jessica's dad answered.

"Who dropped you today?" Jessica's mum asked, making eye contact with her.

"He was my boss. We were so busy at the office today and I couldn't eat my lunch, so I had a migraine. He insisted he feed me dinner before coming home," Jessica explained, having been caught by her mother.

" You shouldn't skip lunch, you know what happens when you don't eat on time!" Her father exclaimed.

" I won't do that again dad, I will make sure to take snacks at least. We are just busy because of the business trip," Jessica explained

" You said the trip is tomorrow. We need to start packing your bag," Jessica's mum said, already standing up from her seat.

" Mum, my boss said I should be bothered coming to work tomorrow, He will send a driver to pick me up by 2 pm, which means we can pack in the morning," Jessica explained.

" I am happy your boss is like you," Her father said, smiling.

" Mum, I also have a friend at work, she loves your food," Jessica giggles.

" Then you should bring her over during the weekend," Her mum said.

" Okay mum, I am going to bed. I am so tired today walking up and down the departments," Jessica said.

" Goodnight mum, goodnight dad, " Jessica yawned loudly.

" Good night Princess," Her mum said, looking at her as she walked away.

"She has grown up," Mrs. Graves said, smiling.

***In a Club House***

Edwin and his friends were having a nice time in a club with different ladies surrounding them.

" Edwin, how is it going with your little secretary? You should give up already." Roy said, sipping his wine.

" Why should I give up? When I am interested in fucking her little mouth she used to call me a pervert!" Edwin growled.

" Hmm, are you doing this because of the bet? You know I can forget it," Roy explained.

" Roy, do you like my secretary? You've been acting strange when it comes to her, " Edwin questioned his friend. He was already getting irritated.

" Nooo, maybe I don't want you to hurt her," Roy explained.

" I have to go home, I have a business trip this weekend and am sure it will be stressful," Edwin said, standing up to walk out of the club.

" Alright, see you next week." Roy greeted.

Edwin drives away from the club while thinking of how to make Jesica closer to him during the business trip.
