Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Edwin was still in Jessica's office sitting calmly, while Jessica rested her head on the table smiling inwardly.
She couldn't believe Edwin would be worried about her after making her do all that work all day. Why would he make her work so hard if he was going to be worried?
" But the fact is that he remains a pervert! But I guess he still has a little humanity left in his mind," Jessica thought in her head.
"He can bring in different ladies but complains about flirting with men on the company's premises," Jessica continues to murmur to herself.
Edwin, who was pressing his phone, heard Jessica talking to herself. He wondered what she was mumbling about. Could it be that she was still feeling sick? He stood up from his seat and walked toward Jessica's desk.
" Are you sure you don't need to go to the sick bay?" Edwin asked, drawing closer to her.
" There is no need, sir. I…" Jessica tried to say but was feeling uncomfortable at the close range between them.
" Are you feeling better?" Edwin asked, leaning forward to touch Jessica's front head, to confirm the temperature.
" I am feeling better-er sir," Jessica replied, quickly backing her head away from Edwin. What the hell was he trying to do? She still remembers he was a pervert and nothing was going to change that.
"And when are you planning to eat?" Edwin asked, moving back to his seat. He saw that she was feeling uncomfortable.
" I will eat when I get home," Jessica answered, bringing out her phone to check the time.
"So you are not going to eat till you get home? Do you want to faint or kill yourself in my office?" Edwin asked, a little angered.
Jessica couldn't say anything as she looked at the floor. Was it now her fault? Didn't he think about that before telling her to work nonstop?
"Why don't you take lunch when you know you will feel this way if you missed your lunch?" Edwin asked again, trying to look into her eyes.
" I was busy with the file, sir," Jessica explained, avoiding his eyes. It wasn't her fault!
How was she supposed to eat while preparing a four-hour file for just two hours, not only that she had to go print them out too?
Edwin felt bad for making her do all the work, he was only trying to make her suffer but he never thought she would be affected this way. He quickly walked to his office to pick up his car key and he was back to Jessica's office.
" Follow me, I will like to treat you to dinner," Edwin announced, with his eyes on Jessica. Maybe he could make up for it, after all, she deserves it.
" Sir, you don't need to worry, I will soon get home and eat, " Jessica explained. She wasn't ready to stay with him after work. She would rather eat when she gets home.
" You don't even have a car, I am sure it will take longer before you get home. Just follow me and hope you didn't forget the business trip. We are going tomorrow and I don't want you to go looking sick. You should be healthy." Edwin ranted, as he walked towards the door, to avoid Jessica's rejection again.
Seeing him walking out, Jessica quickly packed her bag and ran towards the door. He wouldn't want to offend her boss. Besides, she was famished!

Edwin was already in the car, waiting for Jessica to come around. He leans back and finds himself smiling.
" Why am I happy because I am taking her out for dinner? I should be feeling this way because I am already halfway to winning her heart. There is no way a lady would not have a change of heart toward a man that cares for her. That's part of my plan, to make her fall in love with me within three months," Edwin said, a smirk on his face.
Jessica walked into the company garage and looked around. She sighted Edwin's car not too far away from her. She walked towards it and had her seat.
Edwin started the car and drove out of the garage and headed to his favorite restaurant.
On getting to the restaurant, Jessica couldn't believe she would visit this kind of restaurant again in her life. The last time she came here was three years ago before her family business went bankrupt.
She quickly came down from the car and saw Edwin opening the car door. She didn't want him to open hers for her after all, they were just bosses and employees.
The two of them walked into the restaurant and were welcomed by a calm voice.
" Welcome to the Drink and Dive kitchen! " The voice greeted.
The two walk in and they both look for a vacant seat. Someone quickly walked in their direction after sighting Edwin with a full smile on his face.
" Welcome Mr. Turner, this way please," The man said, directing them to the VIP section of the restaurant.
They sat down and a waitress came out to take their order and also asked what drink they would like to take while their order was in progress.
Jessica requested Apple juice while Edwin requested wine. The two started having their drinks in silence before Edwin decided to start a conversation.
" Is this your time working as a secretary?" Edwin asked, looking at Jessica.
" Yes sir, this is the first time. I have worked at the coffee shop since I finished my university education," Jessica stammered as she remembered their encounter at the coffee shop.
Edwin smiled inwardly, happy that she still remembered what happened between them.
" I won't ask you, I will make you give me voluntarily," Edwin thought to himself.
" But you are so good at what you do, I mean the office work," Edwin complimented her, smiling.
" Thank you, sir," Jessica simply said, as she played with the hem of her skirt.
Why was her boss sounding so sweet all of a sudden he was also looking so dashing too. She shook her head to dispel those scary thoughts from her mind.
She just has to answer his questions and concentrate on her food!
