Chapter 111: Chapter 111

The business news was in a frenzy. Everyone had gone crazy with the news. One of the most respectable families in the country was into the illegal importation of arms and ammunition.

No one who watched the news had heard of it. Even Jessica had seen the news. She wondered what was going on. Was it Edwin? Did he want to help her take her revenge? She grinned. Even she never found this out about the Reid family.

The news had spread far and wide across the country and even across the continents.

Mr. Reid was busy with his work when his secretary ran into his office with the telephone in hand.

"Sir, there is a big problem!"

"What's the matter?!" Mr. Reid asked in shock.

"Sir.. sir… there.. the investors are pulling out. Everyone has taken out their shares from the company."

"Again?!" Mr. Reid demanded, springing up from his seat. "What's going on? What's on the news?!"

"Sir… I don't know how this is possible but, we can't access the internet! No system in the company can access the internet."

Mr. Reid turned around frantically. He grabbed his phone and began making contact. He called all the private investigators he knew. He wanted the situation arrested and as soon as possible.

He came out of the company only to find a swarm of reporters closing in on him, firing different questions at him. He listened closely to the questions being asked.

"Is it true that your family uses illegal means to boost your wealth?"

"Sir, sir! Is it true that you import arms and ammunition in secret?"

"OMG! Just in guys! The Reid family is also into the importation of hard drugs!"

They all began to speak at once and the man paled instantly. Quickly, he ran back into the company. He made sure to lock all the doors, allowing no one in or out.

Hannah was sweating furiously despite the use of an air conditioner and a ceiling fan. She was in a fit of cold sweats.

How could she lose her internet connection at such a critical moment? Ninety eight percent loaded and the internet was seized? No internet access anywhere at all!

Not even in the company. She could hear some noise outside. Peeking through her curtain, she found a bunch of reporters, gathered around her gate.

What was going on? If the news had been updated, why were they here and not at the Turners' Mansion?

After a long wait, the internet was finally restored. Hannah quickly grabbed her phone and logged into social media. Her page was blown up with so much hate speech and messages. Scowling, she scrolled through her news feed.

What she saw caused her eyes to grow wide. Not only had Edwin managed to save himself, but he also managed to destroy her family's reputation.

She began to pace. What would her father do?!

She called him immediately.

"Father, father. What's going on?" She cried. "Why's the family name all over social media?"

"Do you have the internet?" Mr. Reid asked in surprise.

"Yes dad, it just returned."

"Oh. Let me see for myself. We have been locked in the company since. Reporters have gathered around the company, demanding for answers to what I know nothing about."

"Oh, dad! They're here too!" Hannah exclaimed. "What are we going to do?"

"I have no idea. I have called a private investigator to help us find out the source of the news. Someone is really trying to destroy us." He said.

Hannah nodded. As much as she wanted to say it was Edwin, she also didn't want it to seem like she had any ideas as to what was going on. Her father's anger was even worse than her own and she hated being at the receiving end of it.

Once she dropped the call, she began to plan her next course of action. Even if her father confronted Edwin about it, he would surely refer back to what she had tried to do!

What could she do to ensure that Edwin did what she wanted?

She thought again. Recalling their conversation, she remembered how Jessica had told Edwin of what her schedule as a single parent was. She mentioned the name of the children's school. Edwin does have children!

Smirking, she grabbed her purse and phone and ran out of the house through the escape door. That way she bypassed the media and went straight to her safe house where she stayed quiet.

Mr. Reid had just been able to salvage the situation. Of course, his business was ruined completely but all he wanted was to find whoever was responsible for the attack on his company. He was going to make them pay with their blood.

"What's taking so long?!" He yelled. The investigator apologized. Everyone was under pressure. Even he was pressured. He wanted to know who was behind it.

How did his family's secret come to light? Now he was under close watch by the government. He had called his men and ordered them to make no movement or communication whatsoever. He didn't want anything to be found by the government, otherwise, he was totally finished. He would be jailed!

After a while, the computer dinged. The man tapped the link to show the address of the culprit.

"Sir, I've found the address." He said. "And.. it's your house."

Mr. Reid became even angrier. Was the man messing with him? His house? How could it be his house? No one was at home except for…

"Hannah!" He shouted. Grabbing his phone, he dialed her number. It didn't go through. He dialed it over and over again but it declined. "This girl will not kill me!"

His workers had to go through the back gate to escape. Even he himself had to leave through the back gate. He couldn't return home, reporters also crowded his home.
