Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Fathia hesitated for a moment, contemplating how much she could share with Jesslyn. After all, they had just met, and her past was a complicated one. She decided to reveal just a little bit.
"He's a close friend of the family, someone my uncle trusts to look out for me," Fathia explained, leaving out the details of her past.
Jesslyn raised an eyebrow, curiosity gleaming in her eyes. "Sounds like a pretty dedicated friend to act as your bodyguard."
Fathia chuckled, trying to downplay the situation. "Yes, well, my uncle can be quite overprotective at times."
As they continued to chat and enjoy their meal, Fathia found herself opening up to Jesslyn in a way she hadn't expected. Perhaps it was Jesslyn's easygoing nature and genuine interest in getting to know her that made Fathia feel comfortable.
"So, Fathia, what's your major here?" Jesslyn asked between bites of her pasta.
"I'm majoring in business management," Fathia replied. "I have dreams of running my own business one day."
Jesslyn's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "That's amazing! You know, I started my bakery business while I was still in college. It's been quite a journey, but I love every moment of it."
Fathia was intrigued. "You own a bakery? That's impressive."
Jesslyn nodded. "Yes, it's called Amore'. I'm actually planning to open a new branch soon. If you ever want to visit, I'd love to have you as my guest."
Fathia smiled warmly. "I'd love to visit your bakery, Jess. It sounds wonderful."
Their conversation flowed effortlessly, and before they knew it, the café's closing time was approaching. Jesslyn insisted on covering the bill for their meal, despite Fathia's protests.
"I had a great time, Fathia. We should hang out more often," Jesslyn suggested.
Fathia felt a warmth in her heart at the thought of having a new friend. "I'd like that, Jess. Thank you for today."
As they left the café, Fathia couldn't help but reflect on how unexpected but delightful her encounter with Jesslyn had been. She had made a new friend on campus, and it felt like the start of something special.
Over the following weeks, Fathia and Jesslyn spent more time together, both on and off campus. They explored new restaurants, attended campus events, and even collaborated on a few class projects. Fathia found herself enjoying the camaraderie and laughter they shared.
One day, as they were studying together in the library, Jesslyn brought up the topic of Fathia's bodyguard again.
"So, Fathia, you never told me the full story about your bodyguard. Is he as mysterious as he sounds?"
Fathia sighed, unsure of how much she could reveal. She had grown to trust Jesslyn, but some secrets were too sensitive to share.
"He's a private person," Fathia replied carefully. "He prefers to keep a low profile."
Jesslyn leaned in closer, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Come on, Fathia, you can tell me. I promise I won't spread any gossip."
Fathia hesitated for a moment before deciding to share a bit more. "His name is Sebastian, and he's been a close friend of my family for years. He's here to ensure my safety after a past incident."
Jesslyn's eyes widened with intrigue. "Wow, that sounds like something out of a movie! You must have an interesting life, Fathia."
Fathia chuckled, relieved that Jesslyn didn't pry further. "It has its moments, that's for sure."
As their friendship deepened, Fathia couldn't help but feel grateful for Jesslyn's presence in her life. She had found a true friend who accepted her without judgment and brought joy to her college experience.
Little did Fathia know that their friendship would play a significant role in the challenges and adventures that lay ahead, as their bond would be tested in ways they could never have imagined.

As the weeks turned into months, Fathia and Jesslyn's friendship continued to blossom. They shared laughter, secrets, and even the occasional late-night study session. Their bond became a source of strength and support in the midst of the challenges they faced in college.
One sunny afternoon, as they sat together in the campus courtyard, Fathia couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. She had never imagined that college life could be so enjoyable, thanks to Jesslyn.
"You know, Jess," Fathia began, "I'm really grateful to have met you. College wouldn't be the same without you."
Jesslyn smiled warmly. "I feel the same way, Fathia. You've made my college experience so much better too. It's like we were meant to be friends."
Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of Fathia's phone ringing. She glanced at the caller ID and saw that it was Sebastian. Excusing herself, she answered the call.
"Sebastian, is everything okay?" Fathia asked, a hint of concern in her voice.
"Everything's fine, Fathia," Sebastian replied calmly. "I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing."
Fathia appreciated Sebastian's thoughtfulness but couldn't help feeling a twinge of guilt. She had yet to tell him about her blossoming friendship with Jesslyn. She had kept it a secret, fearing that Sebastian might be overprotective or worried about her safety.
"I'm doing well, Sebastian," Fathia replied. "I've been busy with classes and spending time with a friend."
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, and Fathia could almost sense Sebastian's curiosity. "A friend? That's good to hear. What's your friend's name?"
Fathia hesitated for a moment before deciding to share the truth. "Her name is Jesslyn. We met on campus, and she's been a wonderful friend to me."
Sebastian's tone remained composed. "I'm glad to hear that, Fathia. It's important to have friends you can trust. Just remember to stay safe and vigilant."
Fathia felt a mixture of relief and guilt. She knew Sebastian cared deeply for her, and she didn't want to hide things from him. "I promise, Sebastian. I'll always be cautious."
After ending the call with Sebastian, Fathia returned to Jesslyn, who had been waiting patiently. Jesslyn raised an eyebrow, clearly curious about the phone conversation.
"Everything okay?" Jesslyn asked.
Fathia nodded. "Yeah, just a check-in call from Sebastian. I told him about our friendship."
Jesslyn grinned. "That's great, Fathia! I'm looking forward to meeting him someday. He sounds like a caring person."
As their college days continued, Fathia introduced Jesslyn to Sebastian during a casual meetup. To her relief, the two of them got along well, and Fathia's fears about their interactions were put to rest.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and painted the sky in shades of orange and pink, Fathia, Jesslyn, and Sebastian sat on the campus lawn, sharing stories and laughter. Fathia couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for the two most important people in her life.
As the days turned into years, their friendship endured the challenges and triumphs that life threw their way. Fathia's bond with Sebastian remained unbreakable, while her friendship with Jesslyn continued to flourish.
Little did they know that their intertwined destinies would lead them on a journey filled with unexpected twists, heartwarming moments, and tests of courage. Together, they would face the trials of the future, holding onto the love and friendship that had become their foundation.
And so, as the sun set on another day, Fathia, Jesslyn, and Sebastian looked towards the horizon with hope and anticipation, ready to embrace whatever adventures lay ahead, united by the unbreakable bonds of friendship and love.
