The nurse brought my baby to me, she was so beautiful and small. She had Jade's white skin colour but took my black eyes and hair color. I held her to my chest, my beautiful baby, I said in my mind. Jade hugged the baby and I, "thank you for much UK for giving me such a beautiful baby." Jade said and gave me a peck. The nurse took the baby to get her cleaned up, "you okay?" Jade asked

"yeah, everything seems to be like a dream, just three years ago I came to New York with the sole aim of preparing for my scholarship examination and now, I didn't only get the scholarship, I became a popular actress and model in New York, a popular baker and a mother. I feel like I have accomplished everything I could imagine, I have done the things nobody in my family has ever accomplished. I feel fulfilled Jade, I have the perfect life," I said smiling.

He wrapped his arms around me, "I'm sure there are other things you haven't accomplished yet and trust me when you do, the feeling would be nothing compared to this," he said

I know that Jade, I'm just feeling impatient about it, I said in my mind.

Minutes later the nurse brought my crying baby, "you need to feed her, she seems to be hungry," the nurse said.

Jade helped me sit upright as I got my baby, I took out my breast and put the nipples in her mouth, the crying ceased immediately and she sucked and sucked, stopping only once to breathe.

"wow… you gave birth to a mini UK, I can understand why you ate a lot during pregnancy. this little person here is a foodie," Jade said and I laughed.

"she looks so angry and less concerned about anything other than her food," I said

"I'm telling you, the only thing this baby has gotten from me is her skin colour, everything else belongs to you." Jade said "Have you thought of a name for her?"

"yes. Her name is Nadia, it means hope. hope that because of her, wonderful things will come our way, hope that she would be the source of harmony in this family," I said. Hope that Jade and I will live a happily ever after life very soon.

"Nadia… that's a lovely name. do you know what will sound better? " he asked

" no, I don't know. tell me, what will sound better than the name I just chose for my daughter? " I asked pouting

" Nadia Jaden kale. that sounds much better. " he said

"you are silly," I said chuckling.

After feeding Nadia and she fell asleep, I laid her on the side of the bed and laid down beside her, wrapping my arms around her small body.

"I feel really weak and exhausted, I need to take a nap. please don't go anywhere," I said to him.

"sure thing darling," he said and kissed Nadia and I and took a seat beside the bed.

I was jolted awake to Nadia's wailing, I turned immediately to where I kept her beside me but she wasn't there, I turned around to see Jade rocking her in his arms. the room was flowers and "congratulations" cards.

"sorry I didn't want to disturb you, I thought I could make her stop crying," he said, he looked as if he wanted to cry.

"no problem," I said getting Nadia from him "who sent all these?" I asked pointing at the flowers

"they are from Nadia's godmothers," he replied

"say wha!"

"they were waiting outside since you were asleep, let me go call them in," he said and went out. Nadia had stopped crying the moment my nipples got into her mouth.

The door bursted open and in came my daughter's so-called godmothers, Ariel, Xiao Ling, Natalie and Tiffany. "UK!" they shrieked and engulfed me in a big hug

"guys! you are squeezing my daughter!" I said

"she's not even complaining, all she cares about is the nipple in her mouth," Tiffany said

"like mother like daughter," Natalie added

"wait a minute, where is Juliet?" I asked them

"she went out with Hannah," Jade answered

"what did she say when she saw Nadia?" I asked

"she was happy to have a baby sister, she said and I quote, 'I can't wait to teach her everything about being a girl, we'd have so much fun together'," Jade said mimicking Juliet's high pitched voice

"I definitely don't talk like that," Juliet said coming into the room with Hannah

"yes you do," everybody in the room chorused.

"whatever, right now I'm only interested in Mommy UK and my baby sister," she said coming to me. "Mommy, what is my sister's name?" she asked

"her name is Nadia." I answered

"I love it, I love the name, I love her beautiful face, I love everything about her. thank you so much daddy, thank you Mommy, for making me a big sister. I love you both," she said and hugged me from behind. Jade came and joined the hug, we were one big family, at least I wished we were.

oh God please grant me this last wish, I promise not to ask for anything else.

Three days later, Max took Natalie, Nadia and I home. Jade had left earlier in the morning to attend a meeting promising to come pick us up but after waiting for a long time and he didn't show up, I called to know if we should still wait or we could go home. According to him, the meeting will take a while and so he said we could go home without waiting for him.

"welcome home Nadia and UK!" everyone chorused as well we got into the house.

"oh my God guys, I can't believe you threw a party for my baby and I," I said. I was really surprised to see all my friends, even Jade's mother was present too. "Is this the important meeting you had to attend?" I asked Jade as he came over to hug me.

"kinda. Where's Nadia?" he asked

"with Natalie, she's sleeping in her baby carrier," I said

"ok, I have a special gift for you," he said

"come on honey, you didn't have to. I've received tons of gifts this past days that it seems I own a gift shop, no I don't want another one." I said

"you sure you don't want this gift?" he asked

"no,"

"alright if you don't want the gift for yourself then you can get it for Nadia, please," he begged holding my hands.

"urgh!! Alright, what is the gift?"

"close your eyes first" he said

"I really don't..." he covered my eyes with his hands before I could say anything else.

"you ready to get your gift?" he asked

"oh please, just give me already, your making me anxious," I said

slowly he took his hands off my eyes and I opened them, everyone had moved aside and right there at the center of our living room was...

"Ma?" I called in shock "mother!!" I called again and ran into her arms.

"oh my darling daughter, you have no idea how happy I am to see you right now," she said

"I can't believe I'm actually seeing you, right here in my living room, in America. How... When... God I have so many questions," I said

"everything happened because of this amazing person right here," my mother said walking up to Jade

"of course, Jade had a hand in this. but I want to know, how did it all happen? last we spoke you said you just saw father off at the airport where he was going for Jerusalem pilgrimage and now you are here," I said

"come honey, sit down let me tell you everything," Jade said. "you see, I overheard your conversation with mother and then later that day, I called her. she was sad that she'd always been taking care of women who gave birth and their babies for years and now that her daughter had given birth, she couldn't take care of them. And so I decided to make a quick arrangement for her to come over."

"oh Jade, you are the best," I said hugging him.

"so where is the little angel?" my mother asked

"here she is," I said taking Nadia out of her carrier and giving her to my mother.

"look how adorable she is, she has your nose Ukpono. look at her, so peaceful," my mother said

"Nadia? peaceful? wait until she is awake and her food is not ready, that is when you'll realize that the word 'peaceful' is not one of Nadia's attributes," I said

"and who do you think she got that from?" my mother asked

"so you were a foodie right from birth, I was right when I said the only thing my daughter got from me is her skin colour," Jade said.
