Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Vad’s Point of View
I haven’t seen Kylo for 8 hours. My gut tells me they’re in trouble. Before Luxferre raised his head to enter the library, the wall opened, and I saw them. I saw Kylo and Niah hopped in a huge cabinet and it sank under the ground.
I don’t know what’s going on. This place has a lot of twists and turns. Sometimes, the walls shake and a path reveals itself.
I found Vitton sewing dresses with her bare hands. She’s a blond girl with deep blue eyes. Vitton looks innocent and harmless among others. She glanced at the window of her room where I was peeping and smiled.
I opened the door and entered her room. Her shelf was filled with old books, almost worn out. An ancient lamp serves as light as she sews the dresses of the demis. Everything around her was dull, even the ornaments. She’s the only one that glows with purity.
“What can I do for you?” she asked.
“Do I have to apologize for the disturbance?”
“Not really. You seem bothered about something. I’m all ears.”
Vitton placed the dresses and the sewing kit inside the drawers of her table. She clasped her fingers and looked at me.
“Is this what you do all the time?” I asked.
“You mean sewing?”
“I mean adoring each fabric as you slid the needle into each pattern.”
A lopsided smile formed from her lips.
“You’re observant,” she said.
“You enjoy sewing because it calms your mind and improves your focus. Even though you’re alone in this tiny room, you’re at peace.”
She looked straight into my eyes.
“Do you want to grab a drink?” she asked.
She opened another drawer under the table and grabbed a bottle from it with two glasses. She placed one glass in front of me and poured the black wine in it. I smelled the glass of wine and drank it. It tastes like a mixture of strawberry and beer that burns inside my esophagus, but it smells like cocaine and garlic.
“I’m surprised that you were not hesitant to drink it, even if it may contain poison. Do you trust me that much?”
She smirked.
“I trust no one but my senses. I know the smell of poison and the taste of death, so don’t feel proud.”
I poured her a glass of wine. She sipped an ample amount of it and stared blankly at my face.
“Do you know what I’m thinking at this moment?” she asked.
I frowned and crossed my arms.
“Hmm. I’ve aroused your interest due to my sharp sense of discernment and impressive apprehension.”
She narrowed her eyes.
“Are humans like you?”
I laughed sarcastically before I flashed a straight face.
“If humans were like me, the sky would only flare the shades of black in rainbows,” I said and drank a glass of wine.
She has consumed ten glasses of wine, and her cheeks turned red. Her eyes were drowsy.
“Why? Why do you look sad?” she asked.
“What made you so certain about that? The lack of colors in my life doesn’t mean I’m lonely. It implies that I’m well aware of what it takes to be happy, and I don’t have the courage to be. I may not be happy, but I’m okay.”
Some people claim that they’re happy, but in reality, they are not okay with it. Because happiness comes before and after pain. I’m not happy and in pain. My life is perfectly in vain, and that’s how I made it alive alone.
Vitton rested her head on the table. I remembered why I was looking for her.
“By the way, do you know a passage under the ground? I haven’t explored this whole place yet,” I said.
“There’s a room where not everyone knows about. It’s hidden underneath.”
“How can I get there?”
“I don’t know. That’s why it’s a secret.”
She chuckled.
I stormed out of her room and went out for fresh air. She wasted my time, and I got nothing from her; I thought she knew something. She does, but it’s not enough. I stopped walking in front of the fountain. The liquid gold flowed smoothly as it sparkled.
I walked back and forth, thinking of what to do to find Kylo. The sound of footsteps made me pause. I saw Sojin enter the garden. The jerk has been following me. All I could think of was to hide from him. I have no choice but to jump into the fountain of gold.
I must have lost my mind for a second. Who could have survived?
The cold liquid enveloped my body, slowly suffocating me. I’ve chosen a fancy death—to be submerged in a sea of gold. I found an excellent way to vanish with reputation.
Is this how it feels to swim in the ocean of gold? It still feels like water.
I opened my eyes and was surprised. I was actually sinking under the water. How could this be? Everything was a mere illusion. It’s not gold, but pure saltwater.
There was a tunnel under the fountain, which I followed and swam until I reached the surface. My body emerged in a cave. There was no diamond and emerald inside it. The sound of dripping water echoed in my ears. The cold water was raging as it slapped every rock on its path.
The hair on my entire body stood up without an apparent reason. I could sense the sound of danger and the terrifying ambiance of darkness. My feet refused to move, but I had to push through. The mystery is yet to be unveiled.
I tiptoed to the ground as I tried not to slip through the sharp edges of rocks shimmering with moisture. My heart pounded rigidly as I came closer to an enormous door made of marbles and stones. It was cracked. It made me want to witness something illegal.
I grabbed the chance to sneak through it. My eyes almost dropped to the ground and my brows formed a straight line. My chest bounced in panic. I have never imagined such a fear. I clenched my fist as my blood raised to the highest level. I was about to go inside, but someone covered my mouth and grabbed me at the corner.
It was Sojin. He strengthened his arms as I violently tried to push him away. I pierced my deathly stare at him.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I said in a low tone.
“I’m trying to protect you.”
“That’s bullshit. Let go of me before I tore your limbs apart,” I said with conviction.
“What are you going to do? Attack them? Come to your senses. You’re outnumbered. You’ll end up dead in front of Kylo. I guess you want that.”
I greeted my teeth in anger. No words can explain the wrath inside of me and my overflowing desire to cut their heads. My hands are itching to kill each one of them.
What I saw inside the room was disgustingly terrible. There were skeletons scattered on the ground. The Animies were there… devouring the body of Niah. They were aggressively munching her flesh like they have never eaten for years. She looked helpless and in tears. Kylo was missing. They must not let me see her dead body unless they want to face the demon I’ve been hiding.
