Chapter 231: Chapter 231: If This Is Real, I’m Switching to Herding

Everyone nodded in agreement with Edwin’s warning.

When dealing with the Eternal Night Dome—a place that had vanished from the world for over three thousand years, taking countless legendary magicians with it—they couldn’t help but feel nervous.

The whole vibe in the livestream started getting tense as they went deeper and deeper.

But when that sky full of jellyfish appeared, the Starweaver’s face showed nothing but disdain. "So it’s just this boring trick!"

A flash of light, and boom—everything around them changed completely. The sky full of jellyfish vanished instantly. Those things that looked like they could move and attack? Turns out they were just regular objects sitting there, covered in years of dust, dead leaves, and spiderwebs, like they hadn’t moved in thousands of years.

The scene was totally different from what they’d seen outside. Even those glowing runes on the massive tower suddenly got way dimmer.

"For a legendary magician, this is basically just a prank," the Starweaver said casually, noticing everyone staring at him. "Most illusions mess with your mind to make your senses go haywire, creating hallucinations. But there’s this rare type of illusion magic that bends light itself, making what you see different from what’s actually there."

"You probably figured it out—if it works by manipulating light, it won’t work in bright areas. That’s why this magic’s pretty much unknown. I mean, who’d set it up in a dark room just to mess with themselves? But here in the Eternal Night Dome’s range, where it’s always dark, it actually becomes pretty useful."

"You guys didn’t actually think those fortune-telling jellyfish in the sky were real, did you? If they were real, I’d quit exploring and just start herding jellyfish here!"

Fortune-telling jellyfish—super rare floating magical creatures. Their tentacles can show star patterns, making them the perfect pets for stargazers. Whenever one shows up, stargazers go absolutely nuts. One even sold at auction for the insane price of 800,000 gold coins!

Hearing the Starweaver’s explanation, everyone in the livestream was kind of stunned.

"I’ve lived three hundred years and never heard of this kind of illusion!"

"I seriously didn’t think of that at all!"

"Well duh, who would? Getting hit with an illusion through the Magic Net? If someone could pull that off, why wouldn’t they just become the supreme ruler of humanity?"

"Are stargazers really that intense? They’ve got tricks like this?"

"But wow, the streamer must feel pretty dumb—scared by a bunch of shadows earlier!"

"I thought this place looked brand new at first. Turns out it was an illusion. Now that it’s gone, this really does look like ancient ruins."

"Lord Starweaver is seriously impressive! Makes me want to go join Eternal Night City!"

The sudden change got the whole livestream buzzing with excitement.

If just one person had been fooled by this magic, they’d probably feel embarrassed. But when everyone got fooled, it became something to talk about. Especially since it was broken by the Starweaver himself—the strongest among stargazers, a legendary magician. That made it even more special.

These were some of the most powerful people in the entire world!

"I see, thank you for clearing that up, Lord Starweaver." Edwin and the others learned quite a bit from the Starweaver’s explanation.

Sure, they probably wouldn’t run into this situation often, but hey, knowledge is always good to have. Maybe someday they or their friends or students would need it.

With the illusion broken, their path forward got a lot easier. Everything went smoothly all the way to the tower.

They’d expected traps, steps that might trigger something—but nothing happened. There were even these weirdly helpful reminders telling them not to take two steps at once or they might break a bone, and to watch out for slippery spots if it snowed.

It was pretty bizarre. Edwin and the others almost thought this was some kind of rules-based horror thing, but it turned out to be just normal warnings.

"How do we get in? We walked all the way around and didn’t see a door."

Everyone turned to look at Lord Starweaver. Sure, there were plenty of legendary magicians here, but not one of them had the knowledge to match the Starweaver—the king among stargazers.

"The door’s right there."

After a moment of silence, the Starweaver suddenly pointed at a huge wall nearby, his tone completely certain.

He didn’t even wait for the others to react—just started walking straight toward it.

Ten meters.

Five meters.

Three meters.

One meter.

The Starweaver walked faster and faster. Just when everyone thought he was going to crash into the wall, he passed right through it, like it was never there at all.

Everyone gasped, then rushed over.

BANG—

BANG—

BANG—

A series of collision sounds. All those magicians charged forward, trying to follow the Starweaver’s method and pass through. But only one person made it. Everyone else smacked straight into the walls around them. Heads bonking into walls, and some of the faster ones even bounced back and fell to the ground.

Edwin, who’d been hanging back at the rear, twitched at the corner of his mouth. He almost burst out laughing but managed to hold it in. Still, the Magic Net in his hands kept bouncing up and down. The viewers in the livestream totally knew—this guy was dying to laugh but didn’t dare.

Double the fun!

The audience was cracking up even more.

"Um... seniors, maybe you could feel around and find the actual door before going in? That person who just went in and Lord Starweaver both entered through the same spot..." Edwin stopped there.

He figured if he kept talking, he’d definitely get a punch to the face.

The atmosphere got kind of awkward.

But remembering that Edwin was holding the Magic Net—meaning tens of thousands of magicians were watching—they all took deep breaths and headed inside. Edwin followed at the back.

A strange wave passed through, and the livestream suddenly got all distorted into colored blocks. But it only lasted two seconds before disappearing completely. The scene in front of them had changed dramatically.

"Whoa—this is inside the Eternal Night Dome?"

"This is crazy! What the hell did the magicians back then do here?"

"Why does it feel like the space inside is way bigger than it looked from outside? Is it spatial magic?"

"Probably just an illusion, right? Or maybe another light illusion thing. I’ve never heard of any mortal creating spatial magic on this scale!"

"I think even the Starweaver’s shocked right now. Otherwise why aren’t they moving?"
