Chapter 83: Chapter 83
The next second, the silver kitten under Lucian’s hand vanished, leaving behind the warmth of her body.
Lucian calmly stared at the few cat furs with a glint in his eyes. Taking out a small polythene bag and dropping the cat furs inside it.
He called Hector and handed over the polythene bag to him. "Run a test and check if it matches any of the citizens of Xila City. If necessary, reach out to Conard and ask for DNAs from him."
Hector schooled his expression into a neutral one; however, in his heart, he wondered if his boss was losing his mind.
First, he overlooked the matter of a cat appearing suddenly; next, he cared for the cat like... it was his fiancée; and then he even asked for a DNA comparison with a human!
"Also, are you planning to visit Miss Lana tonight or tomorrow?" Hector asked in a neutral voice.
From Lucian’s perspective, he was able to see the curious glint in Hector’s eyes and chuckled, "Five days later."
Hector understood Lucian’s intentions.
Recently, the company was busy with the bidding for the Nixis land, and the negotiation was constantly leading to futile results.
The matter has plagued the company, creating a gloomy atmosphere, and even Lucian was so busy to the point he didn’t have time to have proper meals.
From Lucian’s target, the matter should be dealt with in 5 days.
’So he wants to spend a good time with his wifey, huh? Lucian is truly... I have never seen others chase their wife in such a manner. Now his wifey was obediently getting fed in his mansion, unaware of the wolfish ambition this man has!’
Then he thought about Lucy’s report and wondered if he should tell Lucian about Lana’s disappearance.
’Forget it... what if it is a false alarm? If she doesn’t return even after dawn, I will inform.’
With that he stated softly, "That’s all for now."
Lana returned to her room in Lucian’s mansion. Her body shifted, and the sound of bone cracking echoed in the room.
After transforming back into human form, Lana wasn’t thrilled; her face was blank.
"You thank God you returned!" Mr. Crow’s excited voice attracted her attention.
Lana blinked before inhaling a deep breath and consoled herself, "Don’t think it. Even if it’s just pity that he feels for you... exploit it to your benefit... Gain as much as you can... and you won’t have any regret left!’
It was as if a switch was pressed, and the next second Lana’s cheerful mask returned.
"What the heck... Why are you naked? Go and wear clothes!" Mr. Crow fumbled and looked away, guilty, his black feather hiding the faint blush on his cheeks.
"Alright! Alright! Why are you so grumpy, Mr. Crow? My clothes don’t shrink in size when I do. And what’s with your reaction as if you had seen an ugly toad eating a swan?" Lana snatched her clothes from her bed and started to get dressed.
Hearing the rustling sound of the clothes made Mr. Crow close his beady eyes before he replied, "I just... I just..."
"Alright... Alright! I understand... hey! I think I have reached Stage 1 of Black Rank!" Lana murmured in astonishment. There were some tangible ways to check cultivation.
One of the crude ways was sensing it. Many fail at it due to how intangible it is, but Lana could feel those changes.
"You are a lucky one!" Mr. Crow downplayed her achievement; he couldn’t let her get complacent; otherwise, with her personality, she might slack off. "But since you did put in some effort, I will reward you by reducing the number of earthworms you needed to pick."
The next second, he was enveloped by a warm yet fragrant hand, followed by repeated wet pecks.
"Aw! My Mr. Crow is proud; however, he couldn’t bear to praise me and hence used such a method to motivate me! I am touched." Lana’s melodious voice echoed in the empty silence.
"Hey! Stop! Stop kissing me! You woman! Don’t you know boundaries?" Mr. Crow struggled, but he couldn’t win against her and showed a helpless expression.
The question was... why didn’t he use his psychic energy just to push Lana away? And the answer... well... it lay in his empty attempts.
"Boundaries? My foot boundaries! You are my best buddy, Mr. Crow. When your small, ugly chicks are born, I will change their diapers!" Lana was truly thrilled. Thıs content belongs to novel fire.net
Though she never thanked Mr. Crow for his favor, she knows about his silent contribution.
From helping her cleanse her meridians to aiding in her cultivation. He looked after her like she was his baby chick!
Sigh! Anyhow... whatever achievement she has and whatever achievement she will have in the future... the credit for part of it... will always belong to Mr. Crow.
Such was the depth of Lana’s gratitude.
"You should think about yourself! With your worry-inducing activities, I will count my lucky stars if my black feather doesn’t turn white because of worrying about you." Mr. Crow grumbled.
"Yeah! Yeah! You are concerned about my well-being! I understand." Lana chuckled as a wave of drowsiness started to wash over her.
"And that Lucy dropped by earlier. Show her your face later, she..." Mr. Crow paused midway when he felt Lana’s hand loosening.
With slight struggle, he turned and looked at Lana, whose eyes were closed, and shook his head in dismay, "And she says she will care about my babies... Sigh! What a troublesome girl!"
Using his psychic power, Mr. Crow placed Lana on her bed and covered her with the blankets again.
Lying beside her, he sighed before closing his eyes. Unconsciously in his sleep, his wing touched Lana’s hand, and the slight frown on his face vanished.
As if... Lana was the haven he subconsciously sought, while Lana too smiled in her sleep.
"Miss Lana, have you returned? Your breakfast is ready." Lucy’s voice, laced with slight anxiety, echoed.
