Seeing Athan appeared in the ward, Jack's expression turned surprised, but calmed down quickly.

I turned to look at Athan Buffay and asked, "Athan? What are you doing here?"

Athan Buffay smiled at me: "Remember I told you that I was going to check my body and get ready for the surgery?," he turned to look at Jack, “but I didn’t expect that the person who os receiving my donation have a prejudice against me.”

The atmosphere in the room changed, Jack put away his warm smile, he frowned and stared at Athan, looking a little angry, "Mr. Buffay, my apologies, but shouldn’t you knock on the door first?”

The weird atmosphere made me feel extremely embarrassed, I took Athan Buffay's wrist and walked to Jack to the bed，put on a smile and said: “it’s nice that you finally meet, let me introduce, Athan, Jack.” Honesty I wish I could just walk away, so I didn’t have to bear with the weird vibe.

Both Jack and Athan kept silence for a few seconds, they stared at each other with tension. I felt a little anxious, I was worried that Athan would hurt Jack. So I took Athan's arm and said, "Jack needs a some rest, let's go and we can come back visit him another day."

But Athan Buffay didn’t move at all, he didn't want to leave with me. Then Jack turned his head and smiled at me: “Katherine, it’s okay. I have something to say to Mr. Buffay myself anyways. Can you go get me some water? My bottle is empty.”

Athan Buffay turned to me and nodded: “he is right, you should go get some water for him.”

I was speechless, these two obviously wanted me to leave the room!

“Fine, but behave, both of you.” I gritted my teeth and said to them, “talk like grown-ups.”

I tried to eavesdrop on the door, but I didn't hear anything, so I had to walk away. It didn't take me long to get the water, but when I walked back to the door of the ward, I saw Athan was already standing outside in the hallway.

"Are you done talking? That was fast." I walked up to him and asked.

Athan nodded and said nothing. He looked at the water bottle in my hand and said to me, "Go and give him the water first, I'll wait for you outside." I was a little confused about his attitude, but I went into the ward anyway. Jack smiled and took the water glass I handed him, patted the edge of the bed and motioned for me to sit down.

“What did you talk about?”I sat down and asked.

“Nothing much, ” he yawned and said, “I’m tired…”

I got up and tucked the quilt for him, but just when I was about to leave, Jack quickly grabbed my arm and pulled in his arms. He held me tight, but just after two seconds, he let go of me and laid down.

“Jack…” I wanted to say something, but he waved his hand and closed his eyes.

I was surprised by Jack’s action, part of me always knew that Jack had feelings for me, and I thought I like him too. But that was until I met Athan, after I experienced so much with him, I realized that my feelings toward him is so special and pure, I care about him, I want to have a future with him. that’s something I had never felt before.

After I left Jack’s ward, I went home with Athan.

20 minutes ago. At Jack’s ward.

Athan made sure that Katherine had left, and he turned back to face Jack: “what did you want to say to me?”

Jack was silent for a while, he stared at Athan for a few seconds and said: “Are you a wolf, too?”

Athan raised his eyebrows, and he spoke with a smile: “I’m impressed, how did you find out? ”

Jack shrugged his shoulders, he knew all alone. He had seen several times when Katherine’s eyes changed color, but for some reason she never realized it. He did lots of researches on werewolves and concluded that she is one. But he didn’t want to reveal her identity, he was willing to wait for her to tell him herself.

“Life had been hard for her, Athan,” he sighed, “I always wish that I could do more for her, and I never cared if she’s a wolf or human. To me, she’s the woman I love, it’s that simple.” He took out the files he hid under his pillow and passed it to Athan: “this is my will.”

Athan took a look at the papers, and he had surprised look on his face: “you are leaving all your assets to Katherine?”

Jack nodded, “my parents passed away when I was little, and my uncle had moved abroad after he transferred the company under my name. Katherine and the kids are my only family left in this world, so I don’t want you to take them away from me.”

Athan put away the document and looked at Jack suspiciously, "What do you mean?"

“I mean,” Jack said, “I will not take your bone marrow, but before I die, I need to make sure that you leave Katherine and her kids alone.”
