Chapter 69: Chapter 69
The three left the restaurant back to Finn's media since Daisy had to get her car from where she parked it.
After bidding Cindy goodbye, Ellen drove Daisy out of the place and back to the hospital. Even on their way back, Daisy was beginning to feel moody.
'Going back to that ward again just feels like something I don't want to ever do again in my life. Can't wait to be discharged,' she sighed.
She will be discharged soon anyway.
Back at Finn's Media, after greeting a few staff and co-actors, Cindy left the place to take a drive around town. She needed to think, and then clear her head.
With her hands on her steering wheel, she articulately maneuvered her vehicle through the roads and streets.
"If I'm going to gain the favour of the Lady from the Coasters, then I'll have to stop being bitchy towards Ellen. Ellen seems to be of greater importance as it is right now," Cindy muttered, talking to herself as she drove around aimlessly.
"I'll gradually become friends with her then and I mean it this time around when I say I'm going to work hard and smart."
Cindy sighed.
Not really understand why she is this clouded by hate, but Cindy has always been one who hates getting beaten and humiliated.
"Then there is Edward too," she suddenly sneered immediately gripping tightly onto her steering.
"That one, I really would deal with him later. I don't mind going through Dave."
Thinking of that, her eyes darkened and she suddenly had a mysterious gaze.
"I'll seduce Dave and get him to disrupt Edward in the Music cycle. I don't mind setting him up and putting him in some sort of deep mess or even trouble. As long as he falls to the ground, then I'll be satisfied," she stated hatefully.
"He will regret ever messing with me."
Ha! She has so many enemies now. Daisy, Edward and Ellen.
...
Wesley's opulent office exuded an aura of power and authority as he sat regally behind his expansive mahogany desk. Then there was Andrew, his PA, perched nearby.
They seemed to be super ready for whatever, which seemed like a really serious business. They've been on this investigation and now, a Croxxed X member has been invited to deliver his latest findings.
"Now go on with what you found out about Cindy Auston," Wesley started, casting the man to report an authoritative gaze.
The Croxxed X agent leaned in, his voice low and confident, like a newscaster ready to broadcast the latest news.
"Boss, we've been tracking this foreign account funnelling significant sums of money to Cindy at precise intervals. Remember, we last talked about some sort of private number that has been in contact with Cindy, hounding her for months."
Wesley's brows furrowed slightly.
"A foreign account fuelling some amount of money to Cindy?" He asked while casting a glance at Abdrew on the side who also seemed super interested in what this reporting would unfold.
"Yes," the man replied. "A foreign account."
"Okay, go on," Wesley muttered.
"So this foreign account is a kind of well-hidden international account. And it turns out it's a company's account." the reporter added.
"What company?" Wesley asked.
"Neptune Enterprises is the name of the company."
"Oh..." Andrew raised a brow.
"And like how much are we talking about? I mean how much is this company paying her or how much do they pay her when they do?" Wesley asked.
"About half a million Australian dollars," the man replied and Wesley raised his brows more.
"She definitely has got to be doing something for this company for them to be paying her that amount," Andrew thought out loud.
Wesley leaned back, steepling his fingers. "What else can you tell me about this mysterious Neptune Enterprises and these occasional payments to Cindy Auston? Somehow, I feel all these are embroidered with the facts we need regarding this Masks and Coasters nonsense," Wesley muttered with a scoff."
"So, I need all the facts."
The reporter didn't miss a beat.
"The company's name is Neptune Enterprises, and they're involved in an array of activities. Most notably, they share an unsettling similarity with Glassware, the very company the prime minister is trying to wrest control of. These Neptune Enterprises are literally like a complementary company to Glassware. While Glassware deals with agricultural machinery, these company deals with the same and also some other agricultural equipment."
"Don't really get the deal about their interest and investment in agriculture but Neptune Enterprises is a new company, but way bigger than Glassware which is an old company. Actually, they have no dealings together but they have too many similarities and I just thought I should point that out since we're also investigating Glassware."
Silence eluded the office when the reporter ended his speech.
It seemed like this party was really schemed and sketchy. It seemed like a surprise and warning that they were not to underestimate this investigation. This party had obviously been planning their moves long before they started to strike.
"I did underestimate Glassware," Wesley said with a smirk. "But yeah, it's funny how it's the same set of people. The whole stuff about my set-up, and then the entertainment cycle interwoven. Quite impressive and probably coincidental."
"So what is the reason for these occasional payments to Cindy Auston from Neptune Enterprises?" Wesley asked with his brows raised.
Then it suddenly seemed like Wesley realised something so he sat up.
"First off, does the name, Neptune Enterprises not seem a little weird for what the company actually deals in?" Wesley asked softly.
When he asked this, it caused the other two, Andrew and the reporter to plunge into silence. They realised it too.
"Well, same as Glassware," the reporter shrugged in response. "There's absolutely no form of correlation there too. Glassware and agricultural machinery."
"These two companies really are very similar," Andrew nodded positively.
Now there was no arguing that even if they don't interact or do anything with each other to the public, they have some sort of underground and hidden connections, interactions and networkings or they are both owned by the same person or group of persons.
"This Neptune Enterprises has been paying Cindy Auston that amount of money for months now. What are they paying for? Is there some sort of work she carries out for them?" Andrew threw this question back at the Croxxed X in the office.
"I made my investigations but found nothing. Normally, every one of Cindy's connections and partnerships she is affiliated with or in business with are public. That is, it is quite easy to estimate her net worth. But this is the only affiliation the team found out during our investigation that has been kept hidden from the public's eyes," he began to give a detailed reply.
"I ran a background check on Cindy which I just emailed to you," the reporter pointed at his phone and Wesley nodded in response, urging him to go on.
"Of all her interests and all the things she has been involved in, throughout the decades of her life till now, Cindy isn't one interested in Agriculture. She has done nothing regarding that aspect. Our investigation was thorough and we found out Cindy isn't working for this company."
"Now the last thing, Rose Johnson is the owner of Glassware," the reporter dropped another news causing the two men to raise their brows.
"That is why the prime minister has been into the company lately," Wesley scoffed. "But why does he want to take over the company, since it's his daughter's?"
"Well, that, we don't know yet," he replied. "but I feel it's just some sort of strategy that is still not clear to us."
"Well, that answers some questions..." Wesley furrowed his brows.
"Rose is the owner of Neptune Enterprises. The company is paying Cindy cause Rose is the masked lady from that night and is paying Cindy for working with her against Daisy Louis."
When Andrew heard all those from Wesley, his headshot to the right to stare at his boss while his eyes widened like soccers.
"How do you just speculate that? That's just total error," Andrew was shocked anyone would just come up with such a theory.
"The day before yesterday night when that masked lady was spotted at the lougue again with Richard, Rose was at the hospital receiving treatment. Not to talk of Cindy who was at Edward's place. So the masked Lady is not Rose. You yourself already confirmed through that DNA that Rose Johnson really is the prime minister's illegitimate daughter."
Wesley huffed.
"But you once complained that you find Rose Johnson suspicious," they said to Andrew.
"Yes," Andrew replied. "And that's cause I suspected that she's affiliated with someone evil or some sort of evil society. I never even knew Cindy Auston to also be involved in something like this."
"In my own speculations, I'll say these ladies are working for this masked Lady. Yes. The masked Lady definitely can't be anybody ordinary, especially looking at the events and occurrences surrounding it. So we need to look for this person and stop focusing on the wrong people. Or we just get Sarah out and forget about them."
Andrew stared at Wesley when he finished speaking as if waiting for the latter to digest what he just said.
"If this person is really that powerful as you claim, then just taking out Sarah would be similar to passing a cow through the eye of a needle," Wesley gave him a sidelong gaze and Andrew drew out a sharp breath realising that.
Following that, he returned his gaze to the reporter.
"I'll check out the info you sent regarding Cindy Auston. Keep on investigating this. I'll send a message to the team."
"Investigate Rose Johnson too, Neptune Enterprises especially. We need to know who owns that place. And for now, since I was planning to teach the prime minister a lesson and it looks like Glassware might not work cause of these complications surrounding it, I need you guys to thoroughly dig out dirt about him that we can use to smear his name in the public. We can push out the news of his illegitimate daughter too, maybe we will find out something if there's a case of impersonation.
I need you to keep investigating."
Wesley passed his orders.
"We will do just as you have commanded," he replied with a slight bow.
"One more thing. You should check out the situation of things at the cabin and it's eviron from the last time since you left infiltrator Cameras there," Wesley stated.
"We've been checking boss and we will keep checking," he replied.
Following that, with a wave of his hand, Wesley dismissed the Croxxed X member.
