Chapter 59: Chapter 59

In the ward, Daisy stared into empty space pondering on all Wesley had told her over the phone.

She wondered why he did not want her to tell anyone about anything if they were going to work together. But after giving it much thought, she concluded he has his reasons for saying that.

Not like she trusted him now, but then, she really wanted to see things for herself now and not wait for others to do things for her.

She did not have total trust in him. He could be up to anything, who knows but regardless, she would meet with him and find out what exactly.

As for her friends, she decided she won't tell them a thing. Not cause she did not trust them but cause she felt it was high time she tries things on her own and besides, she had disturbed them enough.

While sitting up with her phone in hand, she stared at the blank screen with a series of thoughts running through her mind.

Just then, she heard footsteps approaching and Daisy raised up her head to see Edward walking towards her. She had not heard him open the door to come in cause she was lost in thoughts.

Seeing him come towards her, a smile involuntarily appeared on her lips. Even her whole face brightened up. Oh, how she loves this guy!

Edward flashed her a smile too as he drew nearer. But then, Daisy was too giddy and cautious to realise that smile wasn't what he used to give her.

This time, his smile was guilt-stricken!

What's more, she felt grateful Edward still wants to be by her side despite everything.

She loves him too much.

"Hey babe," Edward called out still with a smile as he got to her. Then he lowered himself to sit beside her on the bed.

Daisy smiled sheepishly when he leaned in and gave her a peck.

"I'm doing good now," she beamed. He chuckled and raised his hand to her face still smiling, using his fingers to trace her cheek.

Daisy blushed till her ears turned pink and feeling giddy, she hugged him while blushing like a kid.

Unknown to her that the certain someone she was so happy being with and blushing all around had his face all stiffened up as she hugged him and even the initial smile on his face had varnished immediately.

He was finding it really difficult to keep up with his pretence, deceit and unfaithfulness.

He just could not understand why he finds it difficult to resist Cindy all the time, talk more of finding a way to get out of the web of blackmail Cindy has tied him in.

Daisy shut her eyes as she listened to his heartbeat that had now quickened which in truth is actually racing due to guilt.

"Thank you so much, Edward," Daisy murmured hugging him tighter and smuggling her face more into his chest.

"For?" She heard Edward ask, his voice sounding over her head.

She looked up to see him looking down at her, his face expressionless.

Slowly, she let out a shy smile. "For staying with me," she said.

Edward did not say anything for a while. He did not know the right thing to say at that moment.

In the end, he exhaled and slowly withdrew from the hug. Then still holding onto her arms, he said, "Daisy, I love you and that's what matters."

She felt touched. She felt more convinced and reassured.

'Edward still loves me!'

Her eyes began to water and with now glossy eyes, she looked at him. "I love you so much, babe. I love you, Edward."

Edward pulled her back into his arms, enveloping her in a tighter and warm embrace.

They remained in that position till Violet and Ellen decided to ruin the couple's moment by choosing that time to walk in.

They withdrew the hug with Daisy chuckling and blushing like a kid. Her whole face was now tainted with red and pink.

Violet rolled her eyes at them and then chuckled. She had a board in her left hand as she walked further into the ward with Ellen.

"I am not leaving for you both, huh?" She uttered playfully while the rest of the people in the ward, Edward, Daisy and even Ellen laughed at that.

"Guess what everyone," Violet suddenly started out raising the board in her hand.

"I got this. Let's play ludo!" She announced.

Ellen smiled lightly like she already knew about this. It seemed they both planned to get a game so they all can play.

Daisy smiled brightly. Knowing her sister was trying to make things more lively.

She couldn't be less grateful.

"This is what Ellen and I could get," Violet beamed as she placed the ball on the bed in front of Daisy before bringing out the cup that contained the dice and the rest of its compartment from her pants' pocket.

Edward and Daisy had withdrawn their hug even though Edward still had one of his arms across her shoulders. And just like that, they all adjusted, sitting around her as they began playing the game, except for Edward who sat there solely committing malpractice by helping his girlfriend out.

It still was fun afterwards.

During the game, Daisy thought about her other two friends Rose and Cindy. It's been a really long time since they all played together.

'How I wish they are here,' she thought but didn't voice that out. She did not want to ruin the moment.

Then she thought of Rose who is also at the hospital due to the accident. There and then, she made up her mind to go over to see her friends tomorrow.

She has missed them way too much not to see them any further than this.

She was going to start thinking of her dad but then she decided to just immerse herself in the game and forget about everything that's currently on her mind.

It's been a while since she's been this happy. She would worry about everything again later.

Wesley sat in his living room leisurely watching a program on his plasma television. It's been a while since he decided to sit in front of his television to relax. But even as that, his mind was not on the various stuff shown on the television.

His men had returned a while ago but even still, his mind was still clouded by various thoughts. It was evening already and even the sky was getting darker

Wesley then remembered on his way back this afternoon, his subordinate had called saying they had news about the Lady, Masks and the Coasters. But since he was upset and had made up his mind not to have anything to do with Daisy any longer, he had asked them to skip and go straight to Sarah's case.

He also remembered he had asked his men to find out where Cindy Auston was at a particular time yesterday evening when that masked lady had shown up with Richard at that time in that dark league.

Remembering all of that, Wesley brought out his phone and called his subordinate.

He had changed his mind regarding Daisy's case and now he wants to find out the details of everything. Tomorrow, he'd find a way to tell Andrew about his change of mind towards Daisy, or not tell him about it at all since it's not his girlfriend's case.

Soon, the subordinate picked up the call.

"Where was Cindy Auston, yesterday evening, the same time that lady showed up at the lounge?" Wesley asked first. "Any news or findings?"

The subordinate was a bit surprised Wesley was asking that as it had suddenly seemed Wesley was no longer interested in her case. But since he asked now, he gave his honest and loyal reply.

"She was at Mark Edward's residence. The surveillance showed she only left there 10:30 am this morning."

When Wesley heard this, he was bewildered.

'Isn't Edward Daisy's boyfriend and Cindy her best friend? How is she at his place all through the night?'

Somehow, he could not help but smirk.

'This is the person she's in love with, isn't it?'

Anyways, he cleared his throat and put that aside.

"So what is the news you got about this Lady?" He asked.

"Not exactly the Lady," the man on the other end of the phone answered and Wesley's brows furrowed slightly.

"Due to these findings, we tracked Cindy's phone while she was with Rose at the hospital and found a series of phone calls from a private number. Nothing more, but we're hoping to find more. Cindy isn't the lady but it seems she is working with her against Daisy Louis."

Hearing all these, Wesley raised his brows in astonishment. He was beyond flabbergasted.

Not like he was not ready to suspect all these but then, they are best friends. Fucking best friends!

'Just wow.'

"Also, there's a weird nurse in the hospital Rose currently is, monitoring every of Cindy and Rose's activities. I doubt Cindy is even aware of this...," The man added.

With his other free hand, Wesley's rubbed the space between his brows.

"Okay," he harrumphed. "What of Richard? Got him or his hideout?" He asked.

"We lost him," the man stared cautiously but Wesley's face contorted in a slight frown.

"We are really sorry sir," the man immediately added. "We were on his tail but he so happened to be smarter than we thought. It seemed he found out we were trailing him."

"We apologize for that sir."

"You lost that lady and then Richard. Can I still boast of your competence?" Wesley was upset.

But anyways, he did not stay upset for long. He too had initially shunned their findings and they probably thought he was no longer interested and then they probably slacked cause of that.

"But we were able to trace him till outskirt of South Yarra," the man suddenly said.

Wesley raised his brows when he heard that.

'Outskirts of South Yarra?'

Everything was leading to the outskirts of town. Their investigation, Sarah's abduction, Richard. Then Wesley suddenly remembered Rose had taken Daisy's outskirts at the start of the incident.

That rang a bell.

His main suspect has always been Rose but it seems that girl is really really smart and manipulative.

'That lady has got to be Rose!'

But then, Rose is currently in the hospital. The lady was at the lounge last night. He had carried out a DNA test and confirmed Rose is really the prime minister's legitimate daughter.

Why is his investigation still revolving around that girl?

"I need you to send me a clip of that lady walking out of that restaurant and then any random clip of Rose Johnson, the celebrity actress," Wesley suddenly said on the phone.

"She passed the underground parking lot. The place was quite dark and with my speculations, the lady has some sort of connections with the owner of that restaurant, so it might be difficult getting a clear clip," the man said.

"The ones we've been getting is cause we were able to hack a part of the surveillance system."

"Just a clip. Figure it out and get me a clip, clear or not," Wesley stated.

'Having some sort of relationship with the owner of the restaurant?' he thought.

"Also get me a clip of Rose in that hospital," Wesley ordered.

Then after some thought, he asked, "You have the location of the last place you tracked Richard before you lost him, right?"

"Yes boss," the man answered.

"Okay good, I need the location's address," Wesley said.

"I'll send it to you!"

He had just thought of asking Daisy the location of where Rose had taken her the following day after the incident. There have got to be some connections if Rose is the lady from the coasters.

"One last thing," Wesley said. "Contact the owner of that restaurant. I'm buying that place."

The man on the phone was stunned to hear that from Wesley.

'Just what is about that actress that he wants to buy the restaurant because of her?' he wondered. 'My boss does not possibly like her, right?'

Wesley had also thought of buying that place.

'Let's see if the lady will still come there freely for her hideous activities,' he thought.

"You have to be as confidential as possible. Don't even mention my name. You are the one buying it and for the owner, contact the owner and let whoever it is know he or she can't inform anyone yet that he or she has sold his or her restaurant."

"The owner is a female," the man said trying not to laugh at his boss's statement.

Hearing that, Wesley breathed out a sigh.

She being a female could be that they are both devils from the same hell and buying the restaurant might not be effective or even make any difference.

If buying it won't work, he'll just get his men to confiscate her phone or phones and kidnap her for a while.

Maybe this latter would be a better option.
