Chapter 58: Chapter 58

"I'm waiting for you to state the purpose of this call," Wesley stated coldly and rudely and Daisy was slightly taken aback.

She wasn't expecting such a reaction from him, neither was she expecting him to still be that mad. Yeah, she really did mess up but then, is he still supposed to be this upset?

Daisy would be discharged from the hospital in a few days and she would be out to face the outside world once again. Even though things were cleared now, she still have to find out some things and get things right and straight to prevent what had happened to her from happening to her again.

Now she wanted to find out and cut off whoever this person is.

On the other end, right in his home office, Wesley tapped his long slender fingers impatiently on the table, waiting for her to just spill out whatever she had called to spill. He really still felt upset but the truth is, deep down, he felt glad she called.

'Okay I think I'm the one who is going insane now,' Wesley sighed inwardly.

Daisy had been stunned and unknowingly remained silent and seeing she wouldn't say anything further, Wesley hung up the call directly.

This time, Daisy was even more shocked when she heard the termination beeping sound she was in a daze when she brought down her phone to look at the blank screen.

Wesley had hanged up on her!

"Is he really still this upset?" Daisy could not help but voice out to the empty ward she was in.

Violet had stepped out with Ellen. The two had bonded really fast and Daisy thought it wasn't bad if her sister tried to have fun even though she felt jealous about the two of them deep down. Anyways, that was that.

Edward had gone out to pick up a call and now that she was all alone, she decided to call Wesley only for him to hang up on her.

"I guess I really did anger him," Daisy breathed out with a sigh.

Seeing a call didn't work, Daisy decided to drop a text message instead. She would try to call him again afterwards and if he really wouldn't listen, then she would leave it as it is. That is all her best.

Wesley felt restless after he had rashly ended the call. He thought he had gone too far!

Now he so badly wanted to talk to her, to call her back. But pride, his ego won't let him.

Wesley sighed.

He hated the fact that he was this way. That she bothered him so much. He hated this feeling and he really was upset.

But then, he could not get angry and fight it.

'Why do I feel this way?' Wesley sighed inwardly.

Just then, his phone beeped with a text message. Somehow he had picked it up immediately to check out what it was. Wesley nearly cursed himself realising just how he actually rushed to check it out wanting it to be Daisy Louis.

"God damnit. Damn you Daisy!" Wesley cursed through gritted teeth. He had his eyes shut as he seethed and he had not even checked what the message was yet.

Finally, Wesley's checked his phone for what the beeping sound was about and just as he presumed, it was from her. He then went ahead to open the text which read, "I'm sorry Wesley. Really sorry."

Somehow, Wesley felt his heart melt when he read that. Maybe cause he wasn't expecting her to apologise or do it that way.

Breathing out a sigh, Wesley decided to text back. So he typed, "It's okay. It's fine."

With a huff, he sent the message. Then he shut his eyes and began to wonder.

'This is no longer funny. Why do I care so much about her? Why do I worry so much? Why do I feel this way?'

"I can't possibly like that actress, right?" Wesley could not help but scoff out loud.

Soon, he heard his phone ringing and seeing the now familiar number displayed on his phone screen, he shut his eyes and exhaled.

'She still wanna apologize or what?'

Anyways, he picked up the call regardless.

"Good evening Mr Maxwell," Daisy's voice rang out once he placed the phone against his ear.

"Honestly I'm sorry for my outburst this afternoon. I did not mean it. I was just overstressed and all."

"It's okay Daisy," Wesley said and sighed.

He thought about the fact that she really is still underway with her mental issue. That might have been the reason for her sudden unreasonable outburst.

"I'm honestly sorry, it's just..."

Following that, she went silent not knowing what else to say. She hoped he really had put that behind her.

The two were silent for a while and just when she thought she should just terminate the call since they had nothing else to say, Wesley cleared his throat.

"You meeting me at the hospital wasn't just some kind of coincidence. Found out some things about the case from that night. And since I couldn't reach you since you blocked me, I thought I should come to meet you to talk to you about them, but you just said all that."

By the time Wesley was done speaking, he shut his eyes tightly and exhaled sharply.

Like he had just said all that, told her all that, about him coming to see her. Oh, how his ego hurt!

'This isn't just concern for her. How am I like this?' Wesley scoffed inwardly.

Daisy was stunned by what she just heard and she didn't know how to react immediately.

'Oh, he has been investigating this whole shit all along. All these while I was laying playing victim and being carried around, he was trying to find out things. But I acted rashly in the end!'

"Honestly, I'm so sorry. I.. I actually. It's just, I..." She stammered and went quiet seeing she was now finding it difficult to come up with a proper sentence.

"Please let's meet. You tell me your free time and I'll stick with that. I just.." Daisy said then sighed. "I will come to you"

Now she badly wanted a meeting with him. They needed to discuss.

All she wants is to find out who did that to her on her anniversary night and make them pay.

"Alright, I'll get back to you on that later," Wesley casually replied and Daisy couldn't be less grateful. Now she was smiling widely and all of that. She felt happy maybe her victory is way sooner after all.

"But on one condition," Wesley suddenly added causing the smile on her face to slowly fade away.

"Oh... Oh, what's is..., what is it about?" She asked with a stammer.

"It's simple," Wesley said and slowly leaned into his seat.

"You aren't telling a thing about us working together with anyone. Now isn't the time to trust people. I'm not asking you to trust me myself but you've got to be cautious and more mature. You're twenty-eight years old if I'm not mistaken so you should do better."

"And trust me, if you want us to work together, even your friends, Rose and Cindy can't know anything about these."

Daisy sent silent when she heard all that.

'Why?' she could not help but wonder.

"They've pretty much been helping me, ran around investigating and...," she tried to protest but Wesley cut in. "And what did they find?"

"Nothing..."

"Nothing?" Wesley scoffed. "So yeah, leave it as that, okay?"

"You keep ours confidential if you want us to work together."

'Well, this shouldn't be hard, right?' Daisy thought out loudly.

"Alright," she exhaled. "That's nothing difficult. I will keep this confidential."

"Good girl," Wesley said with a sly smile.

Even after the call ended, Wesley could not help but scoff at himself.

Had he not just promised himself not to have anything to do with this actress again? He had told himself he was done with her.

And now, he is on the way to scheduling a meeting with her.

It isn't even up to twenty-four hours yet.

Wait, twenty-four? It's not even up to four hours yet.

'This is ridiculous,' Wesley sighed.
