Chapter 54: Chapter 54

"I won't delete it if I don't want to," Wesley muttered with a smirk. Daisy stared at his face for a long time finding him and his attitude annoying. But then, she could not deny the fact that this guy is so handsome.

She could swear he is one of the most handsome guys she has ever met.

Suddenly realising her thoughts, her eyes widened slightly.

'Am I really thinking about all these? How? No no, Edward is the most handsome man in the world!'

Wesley did not know the reason for her sudden expression but he did not say nor ask anything about it.

"We should talk," Wesley said, looking down at her before looking at the space beside her on the stairs like he was contemplating sitting down there with her.

But after giving it much thought, he decided against it.

'We should talk?' Daisy repeated the question in her head, suddenly looking lost and confused.

"About what?" She asked him.

"About this whole shit," Wesley scoffed, pointing at his phone in his pant pocket as if referring to the video.

'Her mental issue is really something...' he thought.

"The video, the internet backlash, sudden mental issues from strange toxins..."

As he said all those, her eyes widened. 'Toxins in my body? How did he know all that?'

Daisy looked at him in shock. But then something suddenly crossed her mind that caused her to gasp. With her eyes widening more, Daisy sprang to her feet, her expression giving away her shock and bewilderment.

Wesley did not know why she was looking at him that way, and even though he was exasperated deep down, he simply remained calm, maintaining that clear facade. Even he remained expressionless.

Somehow, he thought the mental issue she has was the one suddenly affecting her.

But then, Daisy said something that caused him to stare at her in awe.

"You know so much about me! The Masks and the Coasters? The toxins in my body???"

"No please start explaining how you don't have a hand in all these or even behind everything all along?" She asked through gritted teeth, suddenly glaring harshly at him.

Wesley was amazed and even his expression was now that of awe and surprise as he looked at her.

Then he chuckled bitterly.

He could not believe he had come here in a bid to help her out of all these mess, leaving his work and the most important things only for him to be accused wrongly. He felt wrong.

'Like for real?'

"It's not funny!" Daisy spat looking at him with daggers in her eyes, not understanding why he was chuckling.

'Like just what exactly is making him chuckle?'

"You set me up, right? No, I'm not even asking. Everything was you. You all along! I mean just seeing that video alone, it's so obvious you made whoever shoot the video not show your rotten face at all! Or you placed the camera on the ceiling yourself!"

After yelling, Daisy stood in front of him panting heavily from anger. Her sudden realisation made her so enraged and she was now staring at Wesley who was standing in front of him like he is the enemy of her soul.

Wesley could not believe his ears. Now, he deeply regretted coming over.

He should have left her to die in the hands of whoever wanted to kill her. But then he did not know what kept on pushing and compelling him till he found himself in this place.

Wesley chuckled darkly as he scoffed and stared ahead, trying as much as possible not to burst out in anger. And when his gaze returned to her, his eyes were as glaring as thunder. His gaze was extremely cold that even Daisy shuddered lightly from the sudden change.

'Have I made a mistake by my sudden outburst just now?' she thought.

"Really?" Wesley scoffed with a cold glare.

"Yes really!" She still answered. She was bent on facing and fighting this sudden enemy of hers head-on.

Chuckling again, he stared at her darkly.

"Make sure you get me arrested then. Okay? Just be sure you have enough evidence against me, if not, you wouldn't like my move on you," he stated coldly, glared at her once more then made to leave.

Daisy watched his retreating figure as he disappeared along the corridor after stepping down the stairs.

For some reason, she began to feel guilty for saying all that.

'What if he knows nothing? What if this has nothing to do with him and I have just accused him wrongly?

Cause why will he show himself to me if he is the one? To confuse me? What if he actually wanted to help...?'

So many 'what iffss' began running through her head leaving her in a state of dilemma.

In the end, she only felt perplexed.

With a sigh, she sat down back on the stairs and leaned back her head on the railings.

A few moments later, she heard footsteps approaching. She did not know what made her think it was Wesley returning and therefore she turned her head immediately, in expectation only to see the nurse from earlier approaching.

Feeling slightly disappointed, she huffed and just leaned back her head.

'Why am I even disappointed?' she sighed. 'There's still every possibility that he truly has a hand in all these, so...?'

Looking back at the nurse, Daisy remembered she had been following from afar all along.

'Did she hear our conversations and then my outburst?'

Now she was slightly curious to know what she thought.

"Miss Louis, I think we should head back now," the nurse lowly stated, stopping in front of Daisy.

Daisy simply raised her head and stared at her, scrutinizing her with her gaze.

"You heard everything from earlier, right?"

Suddenly being asked such, the nurse was a bit perplexed. She wasn't all that expecting that question from Daisy.

"I did not mean to eavesdrop," she sighed in response. "I was innocently just trying to see to you being fine. I know you needed the walk but I also can not just leave you all alone and not keep an eye on you. I'm truly sorry for eavesdropping. I did not mean it."

Daisy exhaled when the nurse said all that.

"I wasn't even planning to scold you," she sighed. "You heard everything, right? I mean everything we said, my outburst and all..."

"Well..." The nurse huffed then answered truthfully, "Yes, I heard everything."

When Daisy heard that, she let out a small tired sigh.

"I need us to talk then," she stated, patting the space beside her.

"Please," she added.

With a shrug, she lowered herself to sit beside Daisy.

Following that, silence engulfed them till the nurse decided to break it. She turned to Daisy and staring at her, she asked, "Can I talk to you freely?"

Daisy took in her question and immediately nodded. "Sure, please. That is just what I want."

Hearing that, she went on and began to probe.

"That young handsome man from earlier was the man you got set up with that night, right?"

"Yes," Daisy answered, nodding slightly, wondering why she had to add 'handsome' while describing him. "It really was a set-up," she added.

"Yes I know it was," the nurse replied.

"Edward's post asides. Most people don't truly believe which is why I'm telling you. I really was set up and till now, I don't know who or why," Daisy muttered while staring straight at the nurse.

The nurse stared at Daisy and could not help feeling sorry for her, just seeing the way Daisy was trying so hard to portray her innocence through her eyes.

The nurse, breathing out a sigh placed her right hand on Daisy's shoulder.

"I believe you, Daisy. Even when I saw the video that time, I knew something was wrong. That isn't what I know you as and I refused to believe that video till now," she stated.

What the nurse said moved Daisy to tears. Feeling water pulling up in her eyes, she immediately looked ahead and blinked back the tears.

"Thank you so much," she breathed out gratefully. "Thank you. This means a lot to me," she said glancing at the nurse.

Then Daisy asked, "Please, what is your name?"

Using her hand to rub her back slightly in a bid to soothe her, she replied, "I'm Ellen."

"Thank you so much, Ellen," Daisy said once again. She was really grateful.

"You're welcome, Daisy," Ellen replied, removing her hand and placing it over Daisy's.

They remained that way again in silence before Ellen broke the silence again.

"I honestly feel you accused that young man wrongly," she started then turned to look at Daisy.

Daisy turned to look at her too, sadly. Their eyes met and letting what Ellen said sink in, she only felt really horrible.

"Just apologize to him and it'll be fine, okay," Ellen said and with a nod, Daisy smiled lightly and again, she said, "Thank you so much, Ellen. I really appreciate you."
