Chapter 46: Chapter 46
It was evening already when Mr Louis called the station and there still was no news about his missing friend.
Since Daisy was now stable as even the doctor had confirmed she would definitely regain consciousness the following day, it was now beginning to dawn on him. His friend going missing for almost twenty-four hours now is definitely a lot!
Ha! How he needs to get to the station?
'What exactly is going on?'
He would contact the hospital his friend works in on his way to the station, even though his wife already told him she did already and even the police station already did. In fact, a few of his friends have been invited to come over to the station to write statements.
"Please take care of Daisy and don't leave her," Mr Louis said to Edward before returning his gaze to his younger daughter.
"Don't leave your sister," he instructed too, his eyes red and heavy.
The teenager nodded sadly and watched her dad leave in a hurry.
There was also a nurse in there whom Mr Louis had also requested and she had been appointed to look after Daisy.
Violet would not leave her sister, and even if anything happens and she has to, she would rather leave her with the nurse than with Edward.
Cause right now, she trusts nobody that much anymore.
In the dimly lit secret basement, the lady of the coasters and Richard were engaged in a conversation over the phone. The lady, crouching in front of the coffin containing the cyborg, just stared on emptily.
Since she had found out it was a cyborg, it had taken her hours to come to terms with her realisation.
She had even passed her aggression on poor Sarah, hitting the girl and inflicting pain on her to cool down.
Now, Sarah's whole body was filled with bruises and her eyes were swollen.
Even if Sarah gets out of her sorry situation, she already has way too many scars for a young girl. Her back was filled with scars and now, the lady had decided to deal with her face.
Even still, this whole turn of events had piqued her curiosity and she isn't giving up or backing down anytime soon. Instead, she would set up as many people as possible to mislead her opponent.
She would take down whoever this opponent is and make them regret ever coming for her.
Naa, they would regret it in hell cause that's where she sends everyone who works against her!
"The cyborg might have a tracking censor," Richard stated through the phone.
Thinking deeply at what he said, the lady instantly rose to her feet, her eyes gleaming dangerously.
Knowing if there was truly something like that, under its skin would be the censor hidden somewhere within its synthetic frame.
Turning and taking a few steps away, she retrieved a screwdriver somewhere close to where Sarah lay who had felt so much fear with her approaching footsteps.
After getting a screwdriver, she walked back to the coffin and began circling the cyborg, her gaze assessing its anatomy, searching for the optimal access point.
There, there was an almost invisible concealed junction, on the skin of the chest area.
Lowering back before the coffin, the lady positioned the tip of the screwdriver against the artificial skin, applying just enough pressure to create a minute breach. The outer layer gave way as she tore open the skin, revealing the intricate machinery beneath where she identified the telltale seam that guards the censor.
With the usual mask covering her face, it is difficult to notice how hard and stone-cold her expression was but anyways, her eyes were looking extremely dangerous now and even the room was now filled with the hushed sound of her steady and heavy breaths.
She then proceeded to loosen the screws that hold the layers in place. Her movements are fluid as she skillfully exposed the inner workings of the cyborg.
Reaching into the exposed cavity, her fingers danced delicately among the wires and components and swiftly, she retrieved the censor, cradling it in her gloved hand.
It was sleek and small.
But after carefully observing the small machine in her hand, she noticed it was rather inactive.
"The censor seems inactive," she muttered to Richard since she was still on the phone with him.
"I think it's best we keep it that way for now," he replied.
The lady nodded but then Richard added, "What if they've already found out where we are? What if our opponents already got the location of the basement? We can't tell when it became inactive and what's more, this could be their handwork to throw us off guard."
The lady stiffened slightly upon hearing that. Everything happening kept on going on and on, not giving her enough room to strike.
But then, her gaze fell upon Sarah, lying weakly on the nearby table and she let out an evil smile.
"We'll use Sarah as the scapegoat then," she stated coldly and mercilessly. Then she added, "If they come for us, they'll only find her. I have my ways of turning things in a way that it'll seem like it's been here all along."
Sarah, helpless and listening to their conversation, felt a pang of fear.
Ha! Her situation was terrible.
What would Andrew do when he is made to believe she is an evil person?
She had suddenly broken up with him without mercy and left. Isn't that enough reason for him to think she is no longer the Sarah he thinks he knows?
As Sarah lay on the table, her body weak and vulnerable, she drifted into a sea of thoughts.
How had she ended up here that she can't even escape?
She thought about her once blissful love with Andrew, their dreams of a future together and her heart ached badly as memories of their past flooded her mind. She recalled the laughter they shared, the intimate moments, and the promises they made to each other. They were inseparable, a couple deeply in love. Their dreams and everything they shared, memories and thoughts had all been shattered by just that chance encounter with a certain someone on that fateful day which had taken her life on a dark turn.
It had marked the beginning of a downward spiral for Sarah and she had been drawn and enslaved into the lady's web of manipulation. Her life had swiftly transformed from one of joy to one filled with danger and uncertainty.
Sarah's eyes fluttered closed as she tried to push away the haunting memories.
How they had met? She did not want to think about it.
She did not want to think about how it all started.
Just then, she heard the lady instruct Richard over the phone with a sense of urgency.
"Assemble the men. I believe we have a mole among us. We won't be using them for now."
Cause how had they managed to carry back a cyborg and not known it was a cyborg all along? A censored tracking one as that.
"I'll do that," Richard replied over the phone.
But then, before the call ended the lady said to Richard with a scoff, "I don't trust you either."
Instead, Richard chuckled and said sarcastically, "You shouldn't."
The call finally came to an end leaving the enigmatic and evil lady to her thoughts.
She knows Richard would not betray her. Asides that, she has a bug on him that monitors his every move and everything he does and even he isn't aware of it.
Anyways, Richard had never done anything or tried to betray her.
Now, the only thing on her mind was how she would devise a plan to set Sarah up and make her the scapegoat.
The lady paced back and forth, glancing at Sarah from time to time, who lay weakly on the table.
She would manipulate the whole situation in a way that it would seem like Sarah has been the one behind everything after all.
And if she had to do that, she would have to take care of Sarah for a few days.
She believes her scars too would also make her look like a villain.
