Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Andrew chuckled and looked Edward straight in the eye. "I'm not here to judge you," he said quietly. "And I also don't mend in affairs of unfaithful people except if I've got to get something out of it."
"You feel guilty or not, you and I know I can use this info to mess with you. And believe me when I said I've been recording right from the start."
When Edward heard this, he shut his eyes in frustration, then reopening his bloodshot eyes, he looked straight at Andrew.
"What the fuck do you want?"
Andrew simply chuckled.
"Why did you leave Daisy to suffer from all that criticism when you yourself have your own skeleton in your cupboard? Why are you making yourself seem so righteous when you're not?"
Edward was baffled before asking with a surprised expression, his eyes widening in shock, "What are you to Daisy? She doesn't know about this right?"
"We don't know each other," Andrew answered straightforwardly and only then could Edward breathe out a relieved sigh.
"So here is what I want you to do," Andrew started and Edward immediately drew closer, in an attempt to listen attentively.
"I want you to make a post early tomorrow morning, explaining how Daisy was set up on your anniversary night. Come up with a really sad story and hold yourself responsible for not being able to protect your woman. Tell them investigations are currently going on regarding the issue to fish out the bad people who did that to her."
When Edward heard all that, he was rendered speechless for a while.
"Make sure you have it published in every news article. I want every issue regarding Daisy down before nightfall tomorrow. If you can, hire internet ghostwriters too," Andrew added and made to get up while Edward watched him with his jaws dropped.
For a moment, he was at a loss for what to say.
"And you say you don't know each other? You're obviously trying to help her," Edward muttered when he finally found his voice and he could not help the pang of jealousy in his eyes. It was even a bit evident as he looked up at Andrew who already rose to his feet.
"I'm not trying to help her," Andrew simply said.
'I'm only trying to mess up someone's plots and get back my woman.'
Of course, he did not say that to Edward as he thought it was of no use to him.
"Just do what I asked you to do if you don't want me to do it my way," Andrew glanced at Edward before leaving him and walking away.
Edward sat rooted in the spot, obviously still shocked. And then he muttered, "Just that? I'll do it. I guess it's the smallest thing I can do to redeem myself. I'm really an asshole."
He was beginning to feel guilty.
Andrew left the coffee shop, leaving Edward to ponder and reminisce on so many things. He glanced at the door and seeing the stranger had left, smiled dryly. "I'll just do it and forget about whatever happened today. As for Thelma, I'll forget her forever and I really do hope she's not being a nuisance."
Edward was sitting behind his desk as he busied himself with paper works. Unknown to him, his handsome face looked hardened as if the world has offended him.
Hearing footsteps walking towards him, he lifted his head to see his secretary standing in front of him with a piece of paper
"Here is the phone number you requested," she muttered as she stretched the paper towards him.
Edward stretched out his hand, took the paper and
his expression which was initially hard gradually softened unknown to him.
When the secretary saw this, she was stunned and as she walked out of the office, age could not help but wonder, 'Did I actually see that or was I just hallucinating?'
"Did I just see Mr Maxwell soften because of that actress' phone number? How?" She could not help but mutter in awe.
"That actress who cheated on her boyfriend and everyone is against her? What is with my boss and that actress? I hope something has not mistakenly gotten into my boss's head..."
Wesley stared at the crumpled piece of paper in his hand, smiling unknowingly. It was Daisy's phone number, scrawled in his secretary's handwriting.
He then typed the number and dialled it, but unfortunately, the call rang for a while and went unanswered.
With his brows furrowed, he dialled the number again which again went unanswered.
He could not help but wonder if something bad had happened to her.
'Had something happened to her due to the current situation she's going through?'
'is she fine?' several questions ran through his mind which all went unanswered.
Meanwhile, at the Louis residence, Mr Louis had just seen the doctor off and was on his way back to his daughter's room to check on her. She was yet to open her eyes after shutting them back at Rose's place showing how critical her condition was which was also making Mr Louis worried.
Even though their family doctor had assured him that she was fine and simply needed therapy, he still found it weird she had become this weak and lifeless because of some incident and internet backlash.
Anyways, as he drew near her room, he began hearing the faint ringtone coming from her room. He walked into the room and the ringing had become louder.
Since his daughter was still unconscious, he walked up to the phone on the stool by the bed before picking it up. But before he could swipe the answer button, the call dropped.
Something compelled Louis to check her call logs and he was surprised to see this person had called thrice. Apparently, Daisy had missed Wesley's call four times in a row.
Mr Louis squinted his eyes seeing it was an unknown number. In fact, the fact that it was an unknown number had earlier made him reluctant to answer the call immediately.
"Well," with a light shrug, Louis made to drop the phone back to its place when it suddenly rang out again. Same unknown number.
Mr Louis frowned before swiping the answer button and placing the phone against his ear.
"Hello, Mr Louis speaking. Who is this?"
Wesley, who was beginning to get pissed that his calls were continuously ignored suddenly had his eyes lit up but they soon dimed almost immediately.
A man answered her call?' he was a little bit shocked and surprised she was already with another man despite what was on the ground.
"I'm Wesley, Daisy's friend and I actually called to talk to Daisy "
"And I'm her dad," Mr Louis answered making Wesley's brows which were initially furrowed loosened, revealing a calm handsome face.
He himself had yet to realise just how he was reacting because of that Actress.
Anyways, for some reason, he was relieved it was her dad.
"I'm so sorry, Daisy is in no position to answer any calls right now," Mr Louis immediately added to which Wesley replied, "It's fine sir. I'll reach out to her later. I just wanted to check in with her."
"Alright, t..." But Mr Louis did not finish saying what he wanted to say when he suddenly shouted, "Daisy, Daisy,"
Following that, Wesley could hear footsteps and panting as he ran over to his daughter before the call dropped.
Apparently, Daisy was having another nightmare.
Wesley was stunned. He was so stunned that for seconds, he did not drop the phone from his ear.
'What just happened?'
When he finally did, he immediately dialled a number. This time, he did not call his secretary but one of his men. And then he ordered.
"I want every information about Daisy before nightfall. Also, find out everything she's been doing and what she's been up to. Also anywhere she's been to for the past three days."
