Chapter 23: Chapter 23

“Is she not your friend and Daisy’s?” the lady on the other end asked and Cindy nodded hastily like she would see her do that. “Yes, she is ma. But as it is, she’s closer to Daisy and would stop at nothing till Daisy is at least vindicated.”

“Think about this ma’am,” Cindy continued. “If the truth probably comes out that Daisy was set up and Rose is able to get evidence that Daisy was actually a victim that night, it would be bad. Not only would she get sympathy from the netizens but Finn’s media would pay for damages and she’ll perhaps become popular and loved again. All our efforts will be in vain.”

The other end went silent as Cindy waited for her to probably say her mind or dish out orders.

After a long pause, her reply finally came from the other end. “I’ll see to it. Just lay low for now and keep an eye on Daisy. Besides, you don’t have to show your displeasure and hatred for her out there so people won’t get suspicious of you.

“I don’t ma,” Cindy answered hastily. “I mean, she’s still my friend and she’s down the drain now. I pity her so much now,” Cindy let out a mocking laugh but the next question made her pause midair.

“Are you sure? Are you sure no one is starting to suspect you?”

Cindy did not know what to say when she heard that. Especially remembering how the doctor had looked at her last night.

Still, she shook her head and said, “no one. There’s no way anyone would suspect me.”

The lady didn’t answer immediately, but seconds later, she warned with a deep sigh, “be careful Cindy. Keep your expressions in check.”

Cindy shuddered at that and could not help but look around her as if to see who was with her in the room.

She could not help but wonder if this strange personality could see her or is probably around. She could help but think this person was someone not too far or probably close by.

Her heart thumped heavily against her ribcage.

“I will be careful ma’am,” she answered but the call had ended.

‘She probably has eyes everywhere,’ Cindy muttered as she dropped her hand holding her phone against her left ear. She heaved a deep sigh as she placed her hand on her chest while muttering, ‘I wonder what kind of a person she is. From her voice, she seems like a woman. Or she’s probably not even a woman…’

She then shook her head and decided not to think much about who the Lady from the Coasters is. She would just focus on doing whatever she instructs her to do and getting her huge wages.

Remembering she was assisting the doctor before the call, she spun on her heels and walked out of the bathroom, towards the room door before pulling it open.

She stepped out to see the doctor packing up his equipment into a bag and there was Daisy laying on the couch looking as pale as ever. Cindy froze seeing just how horrible and weak Daisy looked. Just yesterday, Daisy was looking all radiant and sexy.

She could not help but look at the doctor wondering what the hell he is doing to her. But on second thought, she did not really care. It would be good if he even has evil plans against Daisy.

Just then something flashed through her mind that made her eyes widen in disbelief.

‘Could the doctor be from the Lady from the Coasters?’

The thought of that alone made her shudder and there she concluded this personality is really no ordinary individual. It would be good if her insinuation was right so if anything happens to Daisy, she could look for a way to make it seem like Rose was the mastermind and knows about the doctor.

Cindy drew nearer and when the doctor heard footsteps approaching, he turned to her.

“Take me to a room. I need to move her to a room. She’s fallen asleep,” he said. Cindy nodded and stepped closer.

She picked up Daisy’s phone and the thick blanket that had been used to cover her up through the night. And while the doctor made ready to carry Daisy in his arms, Cindy suddenly stopped him and dropped the blanket. She then stepped in front of Daisy and bent down with her back against her.

“You assist me in putting her at my back. Let me carry her,” Cindy said, looking up at the doctor. The doctor stared down at her for while before shaking his head negatively.

“No don’t worry. That would be stressful. I’ll pick her up myself,” and with that, he effortlessly picked her up in his arms, bridal style and began walking towards the stairs.

“Rose said to put her in her room upstairs,” he said to which Cindy nodded while she picked back up the phone and blanket. She then followed closely behind him as they went up the stairs.

Getting to the first and topmost floor, Cindy could not help but gawk at the place in awe. The interior and all were top-notch. She began to feel Rose is a little too strange.

They’ve been friends for years now and neither she nor Daisy ever knew Rose has a place like this. Asides from the fact that this isn’t on the internet whatsoever, everyone has private affairs, but what about them, her friends?

Cindy would never have known or come to this place if she had not looked for them and had no choice but to track their numbers. Thinking of that, Cindy’s eyes flashed in confusion remembering Rose had not even asked up till now how she got to know this place.

She made a mental note to inform the Lady from the Coasters about her new findings and suggest Rose is investigated. The girl really is strange and suspicious.

They entered the second room by the right and Cindy kept looking round and gawking at the place. It looked like this was the main bedroom so she stepped forward and dropped Daisy’s phone on a stool. She dropped hers too followed by the blanket before going towards the bed and neatly arranging the sheets.

She dusted it too as Rose had not used this room last night. They had used the guest rooms downstairs.

When it was all ready, the doctor carefully dropped Daisy on the bed while Cindy went over to grab the blanket before putting it over her and tucking her in.

Just then, Cindy heard her phone ring and her heart skipped a bit, thinking it was the Lady from the Coasters. She really did not want this doctor to start suspecting her especially if she keeps on taking secret calls. She went for her phone but, seeing it was Rose calling, she breathed out a sigh of relief.

But next, she could not help but raise her brows wondering what Rose was calling for. She picked up before the call would drop and placing it against her ear, she called out, “hey Rose?”

“I’m going to see Edward,” Rose immediately said from the other end.

“Director Carlson wouldn’t listen to me and hell, he is messing with me. Right now, Edward is the only one that can turn things around, at least to some extent. I’ll have to plead with him and convince him that Daisy really was set up. And once Edward can testify to that, the netizens would see things differently and stop criticizing her.”

As Cindy listened, a lump formed in her throat and she swallowed hard.

'Rose really won’t stop now,' she sighed inwardly as a bitter feeling welled within her. Cause truly, Edward could turn the tides. He just needs to tell the people that his girlfriend was set up.

She felt really bitter and upset. Like why won’t Rose just stay in her lane?

She then began to wish and hope the Lady from the Coasters gives her a call soon so she would report Rose and probably make her meet with an accident. Anything to stop her from seeing Edward.

She never must meet with Edward.

On another thought, if she doesn’t get the call in the next ten minutes, then she would arrange for Rose to meet with an accident. At least that would put her in one spot since she doesn’t want to stay in her lane.
