Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Keeping her promise, Helena visited Aaron's office this afternoon with a large bag containing their lunch. She made it, of course. She was still experimenting with a Mexican cuisine that she hoped would suit her husband's taste.

She stepped excitedly. She didn't know why she was so happy. Her brain did not stop playing a pleasant rhythm that often turned into a slight hum on her lips. Even, for now, that tune was still there and made her cheeks raise, holding back her smile.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Houston," said one of the security officers, who stood close to the escalator.

"Good afternoon," Helena replied with a friendly smile.

"Want to meet Mr. Houston, ma'am?"

She nodded. The question reminded her of her first visit to this place. They knew and could guess the purpose of her arrival. How could Beatrice not realize that? "Yes. I have an appointment with my husband." She put her tote bag down beside her and began to dig into her sling bag. "And I have to leave my ID here," she added, more to herself.

"No need, ma'am. Mr. Houston had told us that you can go up immediately if you come here at any time," explained the security officer.

Instantly, Helena stopped her search. "Is that true?"

"Yes, ma'am. Here." Another security guard answered while holding out a visitor's card to her.

"Thank You." She received the card and then remembered something. She bent down to pick something up and back with two white boxes in her hands. "These were for you." She handed the boxes to the two men in front of her.

"What were these, ma'am?"

"Lunch for both of you. I was stopping by the restaurant downstairs."

"Thank you, ma'am." The two officers said their thanks in unison, to which Helena replied with a big smile. Sharing was, indeed, fun.

"Enjoy. I'll go up," Helena said goodbye before leaving the area to head for Aaron's office. Suddenly, she thought about buying lunch for all the employees here. Perhaps, later after her cafe was done, she could occasionally invite them to a free lunch there. And giving a discount wasn't bad, was it?

Actually, there was still one more box in her bag that she planned to give to someone special. It was so special that she even thought about putting poison in it.

Oh, that was too extreme. The laxative seemed to be enough to satisfy Helena.

"Good afternoon, Beatrice," she greeted as she arrived in front of her husband's office. Saying hello to Beatrice was an obligation. She wanted to show the woman that Beatrice's existence didn't bother her. In fact, she could barely sleep while holding back her emotions. However, it was a secret that only she, Aaron, and Sophie knew.

"Good afternoon, ma'am." Beatrice looked reluctant to stand up and return the greeting. Unfortunately, she had no other choice because Helena had already greeted her. It was also impossible for her to pretend that she didn't hear it because Helena did it right in front of her desk.

Helena could say she won this time and be happy about it.

"I brought you a lunch because I thought you must be busy with work and have little time to rest." Without further ado, Helena started to carry out her goal: to give the last white box in her bag to this particular person, who was none other than Beatrice. "Here," she continued by placing it onto her table.

Beatrice's face turned confused. Presumably, she had not expected this situation. She was still digesting everything with her gaze fixed on the closed box when another sentence was heard from Helena.

"Oh, can I ask you to make a drink for us? I forgot to buy it earlier."

Beatrice turned only to find Helena had moved right in front of the door to Aaron's room and held the handle, getting to open it. And Helena's request clearly hurt her pride again. Look how irritated that snort left her lips. Also, the stomping of feet could be heard from her.

"Orange juice with ice, please." Helena was not satisfied if she had not put all her cards out. She would take revenge on Beatrice elegantly.

Oh, she really wanted to laugh once Beatrice's back left her. But, showing it directly in front of that woman would only degrade her image. So, she would save it later to share with her best friend.

"You come." It was a comment made by Aaron after seeing the figure of his beloved wife emerge from behind the door. And he couldn't help but put on a bright face and a big smile. Helena was in his office. Again.

Helena was silent for a moment in her place. Her gaze was fixed in one direction. Her husband and his desk.

However, a sweet smile tugged at her lips to reply to his welcome before long. She soon walked over to him. Of course, after closing the door behind her. Not tight, but deliberately leaving a narrow gap there.

"You know that I'm a person who keeps my promises," she responded by walking towards a definite destination. Aaron.

Aaron was a little surprised to see how sure she came to him and, in the blink of an eye, she was already in front of him. No less surprising was his wife, who suddenly sat on his lap. He was even at a loss for words when Helena's hands rested on his shoulders.

What was this?

"Are you not feeling well?" The question just came out of his mouth. Sure. Helena had never been this brave before.

Her lips pursed once she heard that. After Helena had mustered up her confidence to do this and his reaction was to question her condition. She couldn't be here if she was sick. He would not let her out of their house.

Honestly, she wanted to get out of her husband's lap quickly to free herself from the embarrassment that she was trying to ignore. But for the smooth running of her plan, she had to endure it. Even though he might laugh loudly at her behavior after this.

"I'm fine," She replied somewhat sulkily.

Wait. Why was Helena like this? This was not her style.

But, it was already started. Helena would continue it while her shame was gone. "I just want to be near you." She continued, still in the same tone.

Aaron was still confused. As a result, a deep frown brought his eyebrows together. Really, what happened to his wife?

"Did I do something wrong?" If it wasn't her, he must have made a mistake unknowingly. And the punishment was the strange behavior of his woman.

Helena gave a soft shake in response. There were no guilty parties here because this was purely part of her plan. "I told you I wanted to be close to you-" She reiterated her answer one more time, "-and did this." She began to bring her face closer to his face and cut the distance between them until nothing was left.

Yes, Helena kissed him. And it wasn't merely a quick peck like she dared to do the other times. It was a deep and long kiss that Helena often got from Aaron. The difference was, this time, she was the one who started it.

They continued to enjoy the taste of each other's lips until Aaron's surprise ruined it.

No. It wasn't because of Helena's kiss or her rare aggressiveness. The surprise appeared when his eyes found the office door open with Beatrice's figure there.

Suddenly, he released their link as a reflex form of his body after getting caught doing something inappropriate in the office, even with his legal wife.

Helena followed his gaze and found that the person she had been waiting for had arrived. "Oh, sorry, Beatrice, you have to see us like this."
