Chapter 32: Chapter 32

Divorce papers.

Yesterday, he would've laughed at that stupid ambitions of her boyfriend.

He was certain Tatiana wouldn't do this, that he'd choose her. After all, they were married and reconciled.

Funny how you'll never know how it hurts until the pain is served right infront of you.

Is this what you really want?" He asked her, for the first time in his life he felt all his strength being drained away from his body.  He wanted to break down in that corner of his office and curl into a ball, cry ... jump out of the building. Or laugh. He can feel himself losing his mind.

"Jerome was spitting mad at me, he knew he was jusy trying to calm down because he was so angry. I followed him inside the house, and explained. I told him everything, Jacob. He cursed me and He have the right to. Because it was my fault." Her voice was choking and shaky, as if there was a lump in her throat. "I've never seen him that angry with me before."

"But then a few hours later, he came to me, crying and saying sorry. He didn't have to do that because I deserved it. But that's Jerome, he wouldn't do something that would hurt me. He still tried to understand. Jake, he asked me to marry him. And I said yes." He watched her tears fall. Tatiana's face started to blur infront of him. He couldn't think straight, couldn't stop his tears, too.

"When he forgave me," she started again. P. "I realized that it was the love I needed. A love that forgives and accepts, he accepted me even if I hurt him horrobly. That's how I know I'd never find a man greater than his love could offer. Seven years, Jake. That's how I know him. In those years he never hurt me. He was the man whose always there. He was the ideal guy.”

"Stop this, Tatiana." He begged.

"That's why I said yes." She sobbed. "Because he loves me so much. I love you, Jacob Shaw. I do. And I don't think I will ever be capable of loving someone this much again. In those nine years without you, I have always loved you.” she went closer to him and held his cheel.

"But I need to do this, for myself because I need assurance. I don't want to get hurt again, Jake. Not by you because the next time, I don't think I could still recover. It took me years to stop waiting for you to return. I was depressed, and traumatized about being left. And Jerome, he offers me security. I know he will never leave me, Jake. No matter what happens.”

"I love you, Jacob. But I love myself more..." and our son. "That's why I'm doing this. I want you to let me go now, Jake. I want you to let me be happy."

He raked fingers into his hair and punched his crystal desk. He felt an extreme pain on his knuckles , and the blood. “Bullshit! You're telling me you love me, but you want to leave me. Tatiana! How will you ever be happy that way? Huh? Can you imagine a life without me again, because me, I can't.  I cannot. ” He shook his head. "I still love you. Those years, i never stopped searching for you.  You're still the only woman I want to come home to, I want you to be mother of my children and no one else." He kissed her forehead, and then looked down at her. "Stop this, stop hurting me, Tati. Please.”

Tatiana took her hands away from his cheek. Tatiana stepped back. "Maybe it's about time we accept that we aren't meant to be together, Jake. Sometimes love isn't enough for people to stay together.”

It's true. They loved so much before, but they were still separated.

"What else do you need? Tell me baby, you want my loyalty? I stopped seeing anybody when you came back. You want my whole love? It's yours the first day I met you. Or is it my time? Huh, baby? Is it? Because I'll leave everything behind for you."

What could all his fame and achievements and success means without her?

"Jake, enough!" . She pushed him away. "Please don't make this hard for me.  I can't leave him.  I'm the only one he has.”

All he ever did was take care of her and Julian. This is the only way she could repay him

Maybe, she'll be happy again with Jerome. Maybe someday, she could accept the fact that Jacob and her weren't really meant to be.

That they were meant to cross paths, but they belonged to someone else.

He harshly grabbed a pen and sign the damn papers without even reading it. Actually, Tatiana has finished signing everything.

The love he knew wouldn't be like this. It doesn't give up, if fights for what it wants. He knew about the selfish love. And Tatiana is doing the latter.

He shoved the papers to her. He didn't care anymore.  All he want now is for Tatiana to get out of his office and get lost. He couldn't stand looking at her without having her.

"There you have it. Your freedom. I'm giving it to you. I wish you happiness.” he said.

"You love him, Tatiana. " He convinced her. "You wouldn't be asking me this if you don't. I'm still happy, even in the shortest time I got to be with you again. I saw you again. I heard your voice. I thought this would only happen in my dreams.

I'm sorry for all the pain I caused you.

I never meant to hurt you. I never thought about keaving you because I loved you more than my own life.”

“And because I love you, I will give you what you want. If you're happy with this then I accept it. I lost... you again.

M

y lawyer will discuss the matters of anulment with you. If you need anything, contact my secretary. I also terminate your services to Strike Bankings. If you wish to leave me, I want this to be the last time we ever talk.”

He saw her nod. Her tears threatening to fall again. He will never understand her decision. He will never understand what her tears meant.

"Goodbye, Jake." She said and started to walk away. Away from him, away from his life. Jacob could only nod, he felt so numb.

Before she can walk out of the door. He called out. "The moment you step out of this place and leave me, Tatiana, I will never forgive you." His voice cracked at the end.

She stopped for a while before she turned. She memorized everything about him. It could be the last time she'll be looking at him again.

Maybe this is the last time they see each other.

It flashed back to her everything. When they were teenagers in the island. When they met again, when they made up. When they were so happy together she forgot about everything else and the only thing that ever made sense was him.

Goodbye, my love.

"I'm sorry, Jacob."
