Chapter 54: Chapter 54
TOBY.
I felt so guilty as Ruby marched out of the toilet after saying congratulations to Yasmin and me. Yasmin followed right after but not before throwing a look of disdain my way.
"Some birthday I'm having," I said to myself. Time to get drunk. I rejoined everyone just in time, it was time for the toast so I grabbed a glass of Red wine for a start.
"To my son, Toby for making this father proud," my father said, raising his glass and everyone mimicked his actions. The clinking of glasses reverberated throughout the room. He wouldn't feel so proud if he heard the news, would he? I tipped my glass toward him at the opposite end of the table. Ruby seemed to have the same idea as me, we both drank glass after glass of wine and left my parent's house tipsy before the main party began.
"I can't picture Yasmin with a baby," Ruby said breaking the silence, "the crazy ones make the best mamas though. This same thing happened to my mother. You know, it's crazy, right? The only difference is I don't have a baby unless I'm pregnant right now. I'm kinda jealous you know," her drunk self rambled on. My eyes widened at the thought of her being pregnant, one pregnancy was enough to give me a heart attack.
"There's nothing to be jealous about love, having a baby with a man like me is not so fabulous."
When the car cruised in front of our building she jumped out before it could come fully to a stop. She stumbled a little but regained her balance quickly and went running into the building. She was drunk. To further prove her drunkenness she went up and came back dressed in a mini black leather skirt and a corset top, something sober Ruby would never be caught dead in. Who knew she had such clothes? I was pouring drinks at the kitchen island, almost all the guests had arrived, just a few of my closest friends with Yasmin notably absent and the DJ was rocking hard when Ruby walked in like she owned the place, Sapphire trailing behind her. I missed the cup I was about to fill up and just poured the drink onto the table for a few seconds, nobody seemed to notice because all eyes were on her. A girl cleared her throat bringing us all back from our trance, she must have been jealous the attention was not on her.
"Shit!"
"You can thank me later," Sapphire whispered into my ear when they came closer. Ruby pulled herself up to a seat on the island just beside where I was cleaning the spilt drink, her skirt riding up exposing more of her creamy thighs and catching my attention, "like what you see?" She asked when she saw the direction my eyes had strayed and I licked my lips appreciatively, taking her all in.
"You look great Ruby," Aiden said, breaking our little moment up and annoying the hell out of me.
"Thank you," Ruby said. She gave him a peck, causing me to see red.
"It's game time," Sapphire said, dropping a bottle of vodka and a couple of shot glasses on the table, the music going low as if on cue. The group of about fifteen people gather around the table. Aiden seats down and pulls Ruby into his lap, she giggles and settles into him. It takes everything in me to not lurch across the table and lunge for his throat. I clench and unclench my fist in an attempt to play it cool.
"Never have I ever played siblings," Sapphire starts and the majority of the room drinks.
Another girl goes," Never have I ever cheated on a partner." A majority of the room drinks again. It goes around until most people are drunk out of their minds. At some point, the game switches to truth or dare but I've blocked out the noise till I hear Sapphire say," I dare Ruby to give Toby a lap dance."
"Sapphire," she exclaimed, " I'll drink right now, Toby and I can get dirty later in private," she said, sending a wink my way causing excitement to course through me. Most people in the room oohed and ahhed at her statement.
Much later in the night some people were passed out or wrenching their guts out in the guest toilet, a few stragglers remained on the dance floor but I just sat and observed. I had switched to water at some point so I wasn't as drunk and the whole scene wasn't as fun. I noticed Aiden leading an almost passed out Ruby up the stairs so I stepped in.
"Thanks, bro but I'll take her up to her room," I said to him and he reluctantly handed her over. We stumbled up the steps making slow progress as she leaned her weight against mine. I pushed the door of her room with one hand and led her in. She smashed her lips against mine once the door to her room closed and I knew I should stop her because she was drunk out of her mind and she would probably regret it like the last time but I'm too selfish to pull away. I kiss her back passionately, she tastes like wine, vodka and something entirely her. In no time we are making out on her bed with half our clothes gone.
Shock encompasses me as I'm yanked off her by a firm pair of hands and then it turns to anger, I take a swing at his face before I even see him.
"What the hell man?" Aiden yells, he cradled his chin where I landed a solid punch on him, good.
"I should be asking you that."
"She's drunk, how can you take advantage of her like that?"
"How is anything I do with my wife any of your business or did you hear her complain?" I asked,, even though I knew he was right and was kind of grateful that he stopped me before I hurt Ruby further. Aiden rushed toward me after I asked that question, and we both hurtled toward the ground landing with a solid thud. He landed a few punches on me but I quickly wrestled with him till I was on top and landed a few punches of my own.
"Both of you stop this madness immediately," she cried but we both ignored her. She must have left the room at some point because Ant pulled us apart while Sapphire held Ruby who was half naked as she sobbed into her shoulder.
"What the fuck? I told you I wanted her, what did you say? You said I could have her. You promised you didn't want her but now here you are running behind my back to snatch her." He yelled, struggling with Ant as he pushed him out of the room.
