Chapter 33: Chapter 33

RUBY.

When Toby left with Yasmin, I was so mad that it was not even rational any more. When I heard them walk away, I scream at the door, stomped towards the bedroom and flopped on the bed. I heard my phone ringing so I spent the next few seconds searching for it.

"Hello, Aiden." I said after picking up his call, a small smile spread across my face even though I knew he could not see me.

"Hi Ruby, I just landed in Hawaii for some business a few minutes ago and then I heard you were here with Toby."

"Oh, really," I said, perking up as a plan began to form in my head.

"It would be nice to see you two before I leave, maybe have dinner. How is Toby doing?"

"Oh I don't know but he should be fine since he is out with his little girl." I said wincing at the ice in my voice.

"I'm so sorry Ruby."

"No need for that, it's okay. You know the situation so….. it's only normal."

"I'm still sorry you have to go through this."

"Are you free this evening?"

"Yes." He answered without missing a beat.

"Great! Let's go for dinner then."

"Okay just send me the details then."

I say I'll send him the details, we said our goodbye and I hung up the call with a sigh. This was better than sitting around and sulking while Toby and Yasmin had all the fun. They even probably planned to use our reservation, well Aiden and I would be crashing their plans.

I looked through my clothes and thankfully I found a dress worthy for this moment. It was a black sequence dress with an open back. It was not quite fitted but it was not shapeless either, the fabric clung to my curves in a way that I thought was nice. I paired the dress with a pair of black strappy high-heel sandals. I put my hair into a high ponytail and for my makeup, I went for a simple look, the only look I could recreate any time of day without any assistance. It was just a simple mascara and red lip look that made my eyes and skin-pop.

There was a knock at the door just as I put some finishing touches on my makeup. I opened the door to reveal Aiden looking classically handsome in a black tux. The way he was looking at me had me blushing even before he opened his mouth.

"Wow…wow, you look just wow." He says making my face turn red right to the roots of my hair.

"Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself." I manage to say

"You look nothing short of amazing."

"Thank you, you can come in, let me just get my purse and shoes and then we can leave," I said walking back inside. He followed right behind me, not taking his eyes off me even as I walk in and took my seat on one of the couch in the room just so I could properly slip my heels on. I was having trouble strapping my heels on so Aiden swooped in and did them for me, his fingers brushing my ankle and felt a little but too intimate. After strapping them on for me, his hands lingered on me for a little too long before he straightened and pulls me up with him. I let out a little yelp because it was the last thing I was expecting.

"Sorry." He said, letting out a little chuckle as he grabbedmy purse for me. He put a hand on the small of my exposed back sending tingles down my spine as he guide me out the door and into the elevator where I press the button for rooftop according to the directions I had been given earlier. On arriving at the private restaurant I am in awe of everything, the decor is simple leaving room for the real masterpiece to shine through. Nature at its finest, you can see the shoreline from all sides and the canopy of stars shining above us. The lighting is minimal with just a few fairy lamps scattered about leaving the stars above us to do their thing. The lights catch the sequence on my dress giving it an ethereal feel.

I only notice the other occupants of the restaurant when we are seated at the table where we are led. Toby and Ruby are seated at a table far away from us. I catch Toby staring so I give him a little wave, Aiden turned and did the same too. Yasmin had her back to us but she looks back when she noticed something behind her had Toby's attention. When she spotted me, I could see her scowl clearly from where I was seated before she then turned back and they continued their discussion.

"You are so beautiful," Aiden said, causing me to blush. I lift my head from the menu I was studying and then bring it up to cover my huge smile. I was cheesing so hard, I don't know how I did not melt on the spot and still managed to say a small, "thank you," to him.

"Excuse me sir and madame, the gentleman at the other table would love if you could both dine together." A waiter who had come up to our table said pointing us to a larger table for four that was between where we sat and where they sat.

"Sure," Aiden said before I can say a big fat no, I tried to communicate my displeasure to him in a look but I still took his proffered hand and allowed him to lead me towards the table. On approaching the table, Toby and Yasmin are seated before we reach, Toby kept glaring daggers at Aiden's hand on my exposed back and Yasmin just looked displeased that we crashed their quiet night.

"What a surprise to see you both here. What business do you have in Hawaii, Aiden?" Toby said coldly after the waiter retreated leaving our respective dishes in front of us.

"He is here to keep me company on our trip," I said quickly before Aiden can reply.

"Isn't that great baby," Yasmin says, sounding very pleased with herself. "Now the witch won't disturb us."

"Toby will be spending the night with me for the rest of the trip." She says smiling widely.

"I'll be spending all my nights with Aiden," I say suggestively, sliding my hand up Aiden's thigh, shocking everyone on the table including myself.

"No such thing will happen." Toby was seething and i enjoyed it. Why was he even concerned, had he forgotten our agreement and what was with the double standards?

"Who are you to say that?" I said.

"Your husband." He replied.

"You have no such rights," I said with a chuckle.

"I have every right, Aiden leaves this island this very minute." He commanded.
