Chapter 28: Chapter 28

TOBY.

"That ass is going to kill me," I whispered as I watched her ass sway as she walked away.

"Baby, wait!" I heard myself yelling.

She stopped at her open car door, her back turned to me. I wrapped my arms around her, engulfing myself in her beautiful feminine smell, "How would I be able to keep living if you leave me?" I whispered into her ears and I could tell she was not going to be leaving by the way her body relaxed against mine.

"You better remember that next time." She said, fighting back a smile that was forming on her face.

I motioned for the guards to open the gate so we could drive in. As we drove in, I phoned the manager to have a room arranged for her on the VIP floor a safe distance away from my family on the presidential floor.

"Do you have to go?" Yasmin asked and I immediately knew that escorting her to her room was a bad idea.

"Yes babe, but I'll be back before you know it. This opening ceremony has to go without a hitch or my dad will have my head." She still seemed upset with a little pout on her lips so I pecked her.

"I get it babe but make sure you come back on time so I can give you a taste of what you've been missing." She said with a wink making my thoughts run wild. She reluctantly let me go so I hurried back to get to work. There were still a lot of arrangements to be made before my parents and our dignitaries arrived tomorrow.

RUBY.

I decided to spend my day in the garden because of how amazing it was. It had a pond, cute swing sits, hammocks and benches scattered around and blending perfectly into the scenery. I settled on a comfy swing seat to read a book on my phone. I read for hours getting lost completely in the storyline of the book until my stomach made a sound of protest. I find that it is almost dinner time as I make my way back inside. I had not eaten anything since breakfast so I impulsively found myself ordering a lot of food, more than I would probably be able to eat. Hopefully, Toby would eat the rest and it would not have to go to waste.

I eat as much as I could and then browsed through social media to pass time. I showered and performed my nightly routine but still, Toby was a no-show, "I would have been informed by now if anything fatal had happened to him," I thought.

I was half asleep when I heard the door to the room open and close.

"Who is there?" I mumbled as I came awake, sitting up in bed to see who the intruder was. It was none other than Toby and he did not even have the decency to answer my question.

"Where have you been?" I asked partly out of curiosity and partly because I deserve to know cause he had made me worry about his safety last night. I didn't exactly like him but I didn't want him dead either.

"My whereabouts are none of your business." Was his short reply as he goes about arranging his clothes for the day.

"Oh, it is my business. The two of us are the only guests at this resort and you go missing with no explanation, it's only human that I was worried."

"Well, I am glad to see that your worry did not rob you of any sleep."

"You overestimate your importance, why would I lose sleep over you?"

"You're lucky I'm in a great mood so the last thing I want is to argue with you."

"Who says I was trying to pick an argument?"

"Nobody. This conversation is a waste of time, our parents will be arriving this afternoon with a lot of important people, I need to get ready and I suggest you do the same."

Mr and Mrs Daniels were the first to be ushered into the well-decorated hall for the welcoming ceremony. We exchanged pleasantries and Clara was cold towards me as usual. Toby and I stood at the door alongside his parents as we welcomed guest after guest. Several congressmen, judges, top businessmen and celebrities were in attendance and even a representative of the President was sent. The large hall was almost full but we still stood at the door because a few more people were expected. It was a cocktail party setting so people could be seen indulging in light snacks and drinks. My throat was parched so I wandered away from the door to find a waiter who could fetch me a drink.

"Ruby!" I heard someone scream my name from where I was standing and even though I couldn't see the person who shouted my name yet, I immediately knew that it had be my sister because who else would shout so loudly in such a setting?

Before I could trace where the sound came from I am embraced in a warm hug from the back. "I missed you so much, sis, "Sapphire said, squeezing me tightly.

"I missed you too," I said, turning in her arms to face her.

"We have a lot of catching up to do." She said.

"I don't think we can leave yet." We were still at the welcome ceremony for the arrival of a special guest. Some guests were still yet to arrive, I was tired of greeting people but I didn't think I could leave yet.

"Nonsense," Sapphire says, "who would even notice our absence?". I let Sapphire influence me and so we snuck out like little girls, giggling along the way to my room.

As usual, my sister entertained me with tales of all her numerous adventures for hours on end. "Enough about me, how are things with your marriage?"

"Nothing new to tell here," I say with an eye roll. What did she expect to change?

"Are you sure? So he hasn't popped your cherry yet?"

"Nothing has happened yet." I repeated, rolling my eyes.

"Well, it's a good thing I bought you a little present to help the situation." She pulled out a box from her huge handbag and handed it over to me.

"Open it." She urged.

I opened it to reveal a flimsy piece of black lace sewn into some sort of underwear if you could call it that because it surely was not going to cover any part of me.

"There is absolutely no way this would fit me." That was the only thing I could manage to say.

"It's your size, try it on."

.

"I am not wearing that, I'm a sensible underwear type of girl."

"And that's why you're still a virgin."

"Oh, so you're the expert now."

"A lady never tells." She said with a wink causing me to laugh and she joined in too.

"Just try it." She pleaded, taking advantage of the lighter atmosphere.

"How does one even put on such a contraption?" I asked her lifting the one piece of material and stretching it in various directions at the same moment the bedroom door flew open and Toby walked into the room.
