Chapter 38: Chapter 38

I slowly walked inside towards them, still feeling stunned. Did Andrei plan all this?

"They asked for my help so they could meet you. You weren't replying to any texts." Right, because I discarded my phone when I was in the hospital. I haven't tried taking it from Mila. Guess I was too sad and angry at what happened.

The two brothers' eyes were that of puppies and I kinda felt bad even though it wasn't my fault. Caden and Mase gave me a small smile.

"I'll leave you guys here. I have business to take care of." We nodded altogether before Drei left us to talk.

"Kai, I'm sorry-" Dustin and Deo said and stood from their seat simultaneously. They stopped when they realized they were both doing the same thing.

I sighed heavily. "Dustin... you first." I sat down beside Caden who scooted closer to Mase and gave me the space immediately.

Dustin started his apologies and explained why he was mad and blamed me. He admitted he was wrong. He was just scared and mad for his brother's sake. It wasn't my fault but what Keelan did was still uncalled for. I agreed to that. Caden and Mase were there for him to remind him of that and convinced him to settle our differences.

I understood him and accepted his apology. Now that Dustin and I finally made up. I decided that I would come clean and tell them the truth and so I did. They were shocked at the information especially at the fact that for how many years I managed to hide it from them and also they were actually hanging out with an heiress.

After soaking everything in, I realized and I say that I'm proud of them that they didn't treat me differently even when the truth finally came out. They were still in a state of disbelief but all in all, they still acted like I was still the same Kyree or Kai they knew before.

Which reminded me though, I planned to tell them about the asshole Darren West. I told them what Darren's actual plan was and the fact that he came here to see me and convinced me about a different offer he had in mind. The guys were furious at what he did. We really felt betrayed since we did dream together as a band. I calmed them down when I told them that I refused his offer and told him to shove them down his throat. They were happy about my decision. I guess in our hearts and minds, we're always a package and no one gets left behind.

After our heart to heart talk, we all group-hugged with huge smiles on our faces. Deon was not included. He was still sulking on his seat. The three understood the atmosphere after our short reunion. They looked at each other and nodded understandingly. I guess we still have Deon and I’s issue to settle.

"We'll wait outside." Dustin suggested.

"Drinks will be waiting, Kai." Mase reminded chirpily while Caden was only shaking his head at out friend’s carefreeness.

I frowned in curiosity when I saw them suddenly stiffened just at the doorstep. I whirled around and saw Keelan who had his hand on the doorknob. He had just opened the door at the same time Caden reached for it.

"Ahh..." Mase reacted innocently. Caden grabbed Mase's arm and quickly dragged him outside. Dustin followed them, not missing the glare between him and Keelan.

Keelan shifted his attention to me and to the guy sitting on the sofa who has been silent the whole time. He shut the door and walked towards me. It was a long awkward and pain in the ass silence so I had to break it.

"Deon... if you're going to say something-"

"I'm not going to talk, Kai, when this asshole is here." Deon retorted coldly.

Keelan took a step towards him but I grabbed his arm to hold him back if any case he’ll pounce on him again. "Don't." I warned. He was scowling at Deon.

"Deon, I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure this guy isn't gonna leave so just talk... please."

"Fine." He stood from his seat. "I'm sorry, Kai. I'm sorry for being a dick... and for lying. I know I already apologized at the hospital but it felt like I wasn't forgiven when you walked out. I hope I'm forgiven now... cause I really really regretted it. I guess now I know you hate lying."

My face softened at his speech. I could truly feel the regret and guilt in his voice. "Oh, Deon, apology accepted. It’s only normal to be angry at someone who lied to you."

He nodded in understanding. "I hope our relationship won't change despite what happened."

I heard a grunt beside me. I rolled my eyes. "Behave, Keelan. I allowed you to be here not to look for a fight. If you don't like what you hear, you can always go outside. I know Deon is at fault but he is still my close friend." Keelan scowled even more but kept his silence. I sighed. "Don't worry, De. I was mad but I promise you, I won't take it to heart for a long time." He smiled softly.

"And... I'm also sorry, De, but I can't accept your feelings." The sadness grew in his face. It was painful to watch but it's better to tell him the truth. His eyes shifted to Keelan. There was a glare but it was hardly noticeable. "Keelan and I... are together.

"Will things play out differently if he wasn't here?" I was grateful that Keelan behaved well. I’m sure the question must have irked him.

"I don't know... but in all honesty, it's all up to you. Four years and you never made a move. How am I supposed to know you're in love with me?" I can feel Keelan stiffened beside me but didn't do anything and honored his promise.

"And if I did?" He asked back.

"That I don't know. There are a lot of paths to take and clearly we are here because we chose a different path." I gave him a sad smile. "I hope someday when you find a girl you like, tell her right away. No what ifs. No regrets."

He returned my smile and nodded. "I will... and I'm sorry again.
